Asser Yassin Joins Hend Sabry in "Dam ala Nahd" TV adaptation
Egyptian actor Asser Yassin will once again team up with Tunisian actress Hend Sabry in the upcoming TV adaptation of writer and journalist Ibrahim Eissa's latest novel 'Dam ala Nahd."
It marks the first collaboration between the two stars on the small screen and their second in 18 years after the 2007 film "'El Gezira."
Mariam Ahmadi is directing the series from a script being adapted by Mohamed Hesham Obeya.
"Dam ala Nahd" consists of 15 episodes and is produced by Sadek Al-Sabah.
The novel follows Mai El Gebali, who had no idea that her exclusive interview with the "butcher" before his execution would turn her life upside down.
With each meeting with the "butcher", he reveals secrets he never confessed before during the investigations.
Along the way, El Gebali begins to question everything she'd previously believed in, disrupts her relationships, and puts her life in danger.
Yassin was recently seen in the TV series "Alby We Moftaho" and Sabry in the hit Netflix TV series "Finding Ola" Season 2.
Yassin, born February 25, 1981, began his career on the stage at the American University in Cairo.
He was spotted by Director Khairy Beshara to play his first role in the 2006 TV series "Qalb Habiba", followed by the blockbuster "The Yacoubian Building" in 2007, and landed his first major role in a film "Zay El Naharda" in the following year.
In the same year, he got his big break playing a leading role in the film "El Waad" (The Promise), starring opposite legendary actor and superstar Mahmoud Yassin.
In 2010, Yassin played the leading role in Daoud Abdel Sayed's film "Messages from the Sea", which earned him the Best Actor award at the Carthage Film Festival and Malmö Arab Film Festival.

Korean Cultural Centre in Cairo launches folk painting workshop
The Korean Cultural Centre in Egypt on Sunday began a three-day workshop on traditional Korean folk painting, known as Minhwa, at its premises in Dokki. The workshop, which runs from Aug. 3 to 5, offers participants hands-on training in the traditional techniques, materials, and motifs of the art form. Led by distinguished Korean artists, the programme is designed for students of the Sejong Institute at the cultural centre, as well as local enthusiasts of Korean culture and art. Organised by the cultural centre and curated by the King Sejong Institute Foundation, the workshop is part of the Sejong Culture Academy, a global initiative that sends Korean culture experts worldwide to deliver immersive programmes. 'Through this workshop, we aim to share a living aspect of Korean heritage and inspire Egyptian artists to connect with it,' said Oh Sung-ho, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre. 'We hope this initiative strengthens cultural ties and promotes artistic dialogue between Korea and Egypt.' Participants will also gain insight into the historical, cultural, and philosophical dimensions of minhwa, which are renowned for their expressive style and rich symbolism, often depicting themes such as prosperity, longevity, and harmony. Popular motifs include the 'Four Gracious Plants' — the plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo — which represent the seasons and virtues in Korean philosophy, as well as everyday scenes, landscapes, and folkloric subjects. The workshop is part of the centre's broader mission to promote cultural exchange and deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of Korea and Egypt through the arts.

A sneak peek at Mohamed Ramadan's new film Assad - Screens - Arts & Culture
Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan shared a few photos from the shooting location of his highly anticipated film Assad (Lion), set for release this year, on his Instagram account. Over the past weeks, Ramadan has also released other photos and videos presenting different scenes from the film. In Assad, Ramadan portrays Ali ibn Muhammad, who led the Zanj Rebellion, a major revolt against the Abbasid Caliphate (from 869 to 883). The film is directed and co-written by Mohamed Diab, a filmmaker also known for writing and directing 678 (2010), Eshtebak (Clash, 2016), among other works. Diab also directed episodes one, three, five, and six of Marvel Studios' TV mini-series Moon Knight and was the co-executive producer of the whole series. Although the date of the film's release has not been announced yet, the audience expected cinemas to show it during Eid Al-Adha in June. However, it was postponed, with some media sources pointing to December this year. The film creators clarified that the grand production requires extensive work to ensure the best results in terms of picture, sound, music, locations, visual effects, and other factors. The film features 70 actors, including 12 major stars and special guests from Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, and Sudan. It also includes 50 supporting actors — some in single yet pivotal scenes.
