Costa Rica's Subdelegation of Bribri of the Judicial Investigation Agency challenged León's claim that the 'The Cosby Show' actor died trying to save his child, US Weekly reports.
'It appears that at one point, Mr. Warner was playing with his daughter at the shoreline,' the agency said. 'He later left her out of the water and supposedly entered the sea along with a friend. It was at that moment that the current pulled them in; the friend managed to get out, but unfortunately, Mr. Warner did not.'
The Costa Rican Red Cross spokesperson said a second individual was hospitalized following the incident.
The unidentified person was a 29-year-old man from Nicaragua, who was 'swept away by a current' as he was trying to save Warner, according to PEOPLE.

León told US Weekly that he was confused by OIJ's statement since they weren't 'present at the scene.'
'They interviewed Malcom's family, but they also weren't there at the time of the accident,' he said.
Warner died in Costa Rica on July 20 after getting caught in a current at Playa Cocles in Limon on the country's Caribbean coast, Costa Rican authorities confirmed. He was on a family vacation at the time, according to People.

Dramatic video shows rescuers aiding a hiker who fell approximately 25 feet onto rocks at a popular hiking spot. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon at Big Falls, located near Forest Falls in the San Bernardino Mountains. San Bernardino County Fire officials stated that emergency responders were alerted around 3:45 p.m. when someone heard cries for help coming from the area. Officials said the caller couldn't see the injured hiker but reported hearing cries for help coming from about halfway up the falls. Investigators said the hiker slipped while attempting to navigate a wet and slick section of the waterfall, causing him to fall approximately 25 feet into a rocky basin below. Rescue crews hiked to the location and found that the victim had sustained serious injuries. After assessing his condition, they requested a helicopter equipped with hoisting capabilities, determining it was the safest and fastest method to reach and evacuate him from the steep terrain. A paramedic was lowered from the helicopter and, with help from ground crews, secured the man in a stokes basket. He was then airlifted to a nearby trauma center, as seen in the dramatic video. His current medical status is unclear. No other injuries were reported. Several emergency units took part in the rescue, including a fire engine, rescue crew, battalion chief, a helicopter team and a public information officer. San Bernardino County Fire issued a reminder for hikers to remain on designated paths and be cautious near waterfalls. "We respond to incidents at this popular location often, where people are seriously injured, so please make smart choices and stay safe," the department wrote in a post on X. Man taken into custody following deadly hit-and-run in Coraopolis
A man is in custody in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in Coraopolis. Police say the victim was crossing Fourth Avenue at Main Street when he was struck by an SUV. The driver took off, but police found the driver and what they've learned about him and the man who died. The video shows the victim almost made it to the sidewalk here when an SUV hits him. Flowers now mark the spot where that tragedy happened. Carole Thompkins is the manager at the nearby Sunoco service station on Fourth Avenue. "It's heartbreaking. It really is," she said. When she learned who the victim was in the deadly hit-and-run that happened right in front of her store, she was devastated. While police have not yet publicly released the man's name, Thompkins says the word has quickly spread through the community. She says the man would greet her with a hello every morning as he stood by the front door waiting for his ride to work. When she didn't hear that warm greeting on Monday that she got so used to, it hit home. "He was an amazing person. He was like a big shot in Coraopolis because everybody loved him. There was not one bad word said about him. He was a great person," Thompkins said. Thompkins shared the gas station surveillance video with KDKA-TV. It shows the victim standing at the intersection of Fourth and Main waiting to cross the street. He looks both ways before crossing and almost makes it to the sidewalk when the SUV comes into focus. "It made me sick to my stomach. That was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life," Thompkins said. Coraopolis police tell KDKA-TV that they were able to locate the driver at his home in Ambridge through traffic light cameras and license plate readers on Route 65. KDKA-TV learned the driver is an undocumented immigrant and has been detained by ICE. In the meantime, people who knew the victim are honoring him by placing flowers at the scene. "I put the flowers out because he's done a lot for this community. So as a community, the least we can do is give him something to be remembered by," resident Julie Populo. Everyone who spoke with KDKA-TV had nothing but wonderful things to say about the victim, who was a landscaper. Many said they would see him watering flowers early in the morning for people he didn't even know, or working to create beautiful flower beds at the local PNC Bank. Residents say his legacy will live on. Police tell KDKA-TV that the suspect has not been charged yet as the investigation is ongoing.
