Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy heading to Delhi to push for early clearances of pending projects
During his visit, the Chief Minister is expected to pitch for speedy approval of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project. The detailed project report (DPR) has already been submitted to the Centre, and the State government is hopeful of receiving prompt clearance to kickstart expansion works. This is one of the key infrastructure projects that the Chief Minister is pushing for.
The Chief Minister may also meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for clearance of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project. With the Telangana government recently proposing to upgrade the RRR to a three-lane road on each side from the originally planned two-lane road, Mr. Reddy is expected to seek urgent Central approval and cooperation for this vital infrastructure initiative. The government has already declared that the area between the present Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) will be the new Hyderabad that promises to ease congestion and boost connectivity around the city.
Apart from project-related meetings, the Chief Minister is also likely to invite the Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for the public meeting planned on July 14 to launch the distribution of new ration cards. The meeting is being held at Tungaturthy in Suryapet district to give new ration cards extending food security benefits to more families.
Sources in the Chief Minister's Office said he may meet several other Union ministers though nothing has been finalised so far. The Chief Minister is scheduled to leave Hyderabad after participating in the Vana Mahotsavam programme on Monday. Only officials will accompany the Chief Minister and there is no confirmation on his Cabinet colleagues joining him.

Beijing fumes at presence of Union Minister Rijiju, Arunachal CM Khandu at Dalai Lama's birthday celebrations
New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) China today fumed at the presence of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu at the birthday festivities of the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, and protested against remarks made by some of them regarding the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama. The Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong, in a statement posted on his X handle, said the issue of the reincarnation and succession of the Dalai Lama 'is inherently an internal affair of China'. 'It has been noted that some Indian official recently made some remarks regarding the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama. 'Chinese government opposes any attempts by overseas organizations or individuals to interfere in or dictate the reincarnation process. 'Xizang is an inalienable part of China's territory. Tibetan Buddhism traces its origins to China's Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.' 'The primary regions where Tibetan Buddhism is practiced are within China. The lineage of the Dalai Lamas took shape and evolved within China's Tibet region. 'The conferment of their religious status and titles is the prerogative of the central government of China. 'The reincarnation and succession of the Dalai Lama is inherently an internal affair of China. The Chinese government upholds the principle of independence and self-governance in religious affairs and administers the reincarnation of Living Buddhas, including that of the Dalai Lama, in accordance with the law. 'No interference by any external forces will be allowed.' Earlier this week, China had protested against Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju's remarks that the decision on the incarnation of the Dalai Lama would be taken by the established institution and the leader of Tibetan Buddhists himself and no one else. Days ahead of his 90th birthday, the Dalai Lama had announced that the institution of the Dalai Lama will continue. Rijiju, in posts on X today, after attending the 90th birthday celebrations of the Dalai Lama, said: 'I feel privileged to attend 90th birth anniversary celebrations of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. It feels like a deeply personal journey of reverence and gratitude.' '90th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh - a deeply spiritual gathering graced by His Holiness, along with Head Lamas of all Tibetan Buddhist & Bon traditions.' Need religious bodies to preserve ancient wisdom: Historian Hindol Sengupta
Mysuru: Historian Hindol Sengupta advocated the need for the establishment of religious institutions in the country for preserving and disseminating ancient wisdom, and the spread of spirituality, religion, and tradition to a wider audience. He was speaking on the second day of the Mysuru Literary Festival on Sunday. "Such institutions will act as cultural hubs for the promotion of traditional arts and music, engage in charitable activities, community service, and educational initiatives, besides helping individuals on their path of realisation as well as contributing to the well-being of society," he said. However, such institutions must be non-political, maintaining distance from politics for the betterment of society, he added. Even today, India has emerged as a global leader in the spread of spirituality, he said. Former Union minister and senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar said that even though he is a Congressman and respects former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he opposes the Emergency, which was against people's wishes. It remained a black mark on Indira Gandhi, he said. He said even though Mysuru rulers did tremendous work, Muslim administrators like Mirza Ismail were overlooked.
