Matt Willis begged wife Emma to leave him after admitting 'I messed up'

Daily Mirror24-04-2025
Matt and Emma Willis went through a rocky patch in their relationship in 2016 as the Busted star struggled with addiction.
Matt Willis has revealed there was a heart-wrenching moment in his life where he urged his wife Emma to leave him, admitting he worried he'd lost her trust for good after relapsing in his battle with addiction.
The Busted star, 41, spoke about Emma - who recently hailed her husband for staying by her side while undergoing heart surgery - after previously being open about his past struggles with substance abuse.

In a recent episode of his On The Mend podcast, he decided to share a personal story about the toll his relapse took on his 16-year marriage. Matt confessed that during one particularly raw conversation, he told Emma to "get out while she still could". He admitted: "I put my family through something I never wanted to."
"And that can eat you up if you want it to. That can derail you, you know — I'm not willing to let that [happen], so I put the work in. It all comes from action."
Matt has previously spoken about using up to 6g of cocaine a day during his 2016 relapse, and on the podcast, he didn't shy away from the guilt and shame that followed.

He shared: "I think the other option is standing up and going, 'Yeah, I f***** up, yeah I messed up and I'm sorry, I'm going to try harder and I'm going to try and be a better person.' And over time, that guilt and shame fades. And for me, it has."
Emma, 48, chose not to walk away when Matt was at his worst. Instead she offered him support, holding onto the belief that her husband could change.

Matt mused: "I never thought my wife would trust me again. And she does. She really does. And that's because I've shown her that I'm trustworthy. These things are earned, not given."
He went on to explain that it wasn't about "talking a good talk", but showing consistent change through his actions. The couple has faced their fair share of challenges over the years, including Matt's high-profile rehab stints and a brush with Scientology.
But through it all they've remained determined to grow together, and even committed to couple's therapy when they hit a rough patch in 2020. Now their relationship has entered a brand new phase on screen as the couple started their first joint presenting gig.
The Willises are currently co-hosting Love Is Blind: UK. The hit Netflix reality show places singles in "pods", where they date and get engaged without ever seeing each other face to face. They only meet in person once a proposal has taken place, before testing out their relationship in the real world.
Matt admitted he was "nervous" about working with Emma at first, but says the experience has brought them closer. He added: "Normally, we have to be separate and go to work away from each other, and now we get to do something together and spend more time together. It's great."

This cruise doc was crying out for a special Scottish someone

*** THERE'S a certain Netflix documentary doing the rounds that is so disgusting anyone would think its makers were out to ruin the cruise industry. In contrast, Supercruising: Life at Sea is ship shape and Bristol fashion, so much so you may feel obliged to greet its arrival with a salute. This is old-school documentary making, nothing fussy or snide. That it is on Channel 4 primetime shows how the channel, and the average age of its audience have changed. We are all sailing towards the sunset now. The eight-part series is set on the MS Neuw Statendam and its sister ship MS Rotterdam. Both are part of the Holland America Line, set to sail a full season for the first time in a decade - another sign of the boom times in the industry. The facts and stats arrive thick and fast, some more useful than others. Is it worth knowing that passengers get through 750 kilos of lobster in a typical fortnight? But then the most important part of the cruise, after the sun and the sea, is the grub. Read more Craving for fun facts satisfied, the producers set out to find those all-important 'characters' any self-respecting documentary needs. We met Claire and Graham from Nottingham, celebrating their 40th anniversary with a stay in one of the luxury cabins. I can't tell you how much they paid because no prices were given. Another couple, Pam and Barry from Lincoln, joked about spending the kids' inheritance. There was a lot of that going on. At least Thomas and Shauna from Kentucky, celebrating their 20th anniversary, had brought their son along. Crew singled out for attention included Rich Fontaine, who sounded like he ought to be part of the cabaret but was the ship's security officer. He'd been in the business 40 years, watching security change with the times. These days, passengers had to pass through scanners, the main purpose of which seemed to be to catch anyone sneaking a kettle on board. Better to seize them at the dock than risk a fire at sea, said Rich. We also met Captain Eric (Dutch) and executive chef Jundiel (Philippines). Most of the crew seemed to be from the Philippines. Cruise ships are often compared to small towns, but they are more like a floating United Nations with its rich and poor members, those who are served and those who do the serving. There was no talk of such things, nor was there any mention of cruising's impact on the environment. Perhaps that's for later in the series. Something else was missing, and at first I couldn't pin down what it was. Then it came to me: four foot nothing, Scottish, does bank adverts, never met a holiday she didn't love - Susan Calman, of course. It ought to be compulsory to hire Calman whenever a cruise documentary is made. Without her zipping around like an over-caffeinated whirlwind, jollying everything and everyone along, series like this can be a tad, well, boring. Got a cruise? Call for Calman!

Record-breaking Netflix movie with 103 million views gets sequel

Sophie-May Williams Published July 3, 2025 11:11am Link is copied Comments It's a big day for movie lovers, as Netflix has dropped the trailer for a highly anticipated sequel. Troll 2 is the follow-up to the wildly popular Troll - a 2022 Netflix movie which became the streaming service's most-watched non-English language movie ever with more than 100 million views to date. But for those who have yet to see Troll, let us give you some background (Picture: Francisco Munoz) Troll follows Nora Tidemann, a Norwegian palaeontologist whose father, Tobias, lost his professorship for his belief in the existence of mythical creatures. However, when a troll reawakens deep inside the mountain of Dovre, Norway, after being trapped for thousands of years, it begins to destroy everything in its path. Thus, proving that Tobias was right all along (Picture: Netflix) As the troll heads to Oslo, with Nora believing he is trying to return home, the government orders an evacuation of the capital. Once the residents have left, they plan to bomb the city to kill the troll. However, Nora convinces the military to rethink their plan after learning that trolls are vulnerable to direct sunlight. Instead of destroying Oslo, she plans to expose the creature to UV rays in a bid to save the city (Picture: Netflix) Following the troll's demise, Norway's population tries to regain some sense of normality. However, Nora is convinced that there are still other trolls out there who may seek revenge after they were wiped out by Christian settlers. During the closing scene, a deep roar is heard inside the Dovre mountain cave, meaning the country still isn't safe. The ending was also the perfect way to suggest that a sequel may be in the works. Three years later, fans will finally be able to find out what happened to Nora - and Norway (Picture: Netflix) As for the trailer for Troll 2, the suspense is real. It seems that Nora and her partner have proven that there are more trolls in existence, and they're seeking revenge. In the last 10 seconds of the footage, Nora is seen standing in snow-capped mountains, being confronted by an angry troll. As she raises a gun to it, another emerges from the snow behind her. Then, the screen fades to black (Picture: Netflix) The trailer has already been viewed more than 700,000 times, with many fans sharing their excitement. 'Nordic folklore is magical, we need more movies about it!' one person penned, as another predicted: 'They're going to eat her, and then they're going to eat the world. OH MY GOOOOOD.' Elsewhere, a third typed: 'Really enjoyed the last one! I'm getting a "let's fight fire with fire" vibe with this one!' while a fourth echoed: 'Absolutely loved Troll… So HYPED UP for Troll 2' (Picture: Netflix) We already know from the trailer that Ine Marie Wilmann, who plays Nora, is back for round two. Other returning characters include Kim Falck as Andreas and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen as army major Kristoffer. Roar Uthaug is also credited as the director once more (Picture: Netflix) At the end of the trailer, it's revealed that Troll 2 will be released on December 1, only on Netflix. Granted, it's not the cheeriest festive title. But given it's set in Norway, and that the trolls literally emerged from the snow, the setting couldn't be more apt (Picture: Francisco Munoz) Ahead of the trailer drop, director Roar Uthaug said: 'I am beyond proud of how audiences around the globe connected with the first Troll film far beyond what we imagined. With the sequel, we are aiming high - expanding the scope, deepening the story, and creating a troll-sized spectacle like you've never seen before. I cannot wait for fans to experience the adventure we have in store' (Picture: Netflix) As for Ine Marie Wilmann, she noted that 'diving into the Troll adventure was incredibly fun the first time around.' She also said she was 'amazed by its global success.' In terms of the sequel, she added: 'It is with great respect and excitement that I embarked on creating the sequel. I hope and believe that people will enjoy more of what they appreciated last time. We certainly had a fantastic time making Troll 2, and we are really looking forward to sharing it with the world.' Finally, producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud revealed what viewers could expect. They said: 'It's always daunting to do a sequel but we truly feel that this time, we've created an even better, bigger, funnier, and more adventurous film - if that's even possible!'

Kesha reveals regret over grisly lyric that got her canceled... after changing Diddy line

Kesha has expressed regret over yet another of her song lyrics - a little over a year after permanently changing a line about Sean 'Diddy' Combs in her 2009 debut single TikTok. This time, the 38-year-old pop star was referring to the lyric 'Be too sweet, and you'll be a goner (Yep) / I'll pull a Jeffrey Dahmer' from her 2010 song Cannibal. 'Oh my God, I got re-canceled for the Jeffrey Dahmer lyric. It was a controversial lyric,' Kesha (last name Sebert) admitted to People on Thursday. 'If some people aren't offended by what I'm doing, I'm probably not doing a very good job of being a pop star.' Between 1978 and 1991, the notorious serial killer raped, killed, and dismembered 17 boys and men - Steven Hicks (18), Steven Tuomi (28), James Doxtator (14), Richard Guerrero (25), Anthony Sears (24), Ricky Beeks (33), Eddie Smith (28), Ernest Miller (24), David Thomas (23), Curtis Straughter (18), Errol Lindsey (19), Anthony Hughes (31), Konerak Sinthasomphone (14), Matt Turner (20), Jeremiah Weinberger (23), Oliver Lacy (23), and Joseph Bradehoft (25). Jeffrey - otherwise known as the Milwaukee Monster or the Milwaukee Cannibal - had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and a psychotic disorder before he was beaten to death by a fellow Columbia Correctional Institution inmate in 1994. In 2022, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan released their dismally-reviewed Netflix crime thriller, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, starring Evan Peters, which depicted his unimaginable crimes and the victims desperate for justice. The two-time Grammy nominee previously altered her track TikTok from 'Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy' to 'Wake up in the morning like f*** P. Diddy' during Reneé Rapp's 2024 Coachella set. 'Yes, it will be [permanent]. The fans should learn it for my upcoming [shows]. I want to hear it louder than ever. I stand by that,' Kesha told TMZ at the time. 'I'm not the kind of person that shuts the f*** up. I know what I stand for, I know my integrity is rock-solid, so I speak the truth. The industry can kinda, like, suck my d***.' The LA native tweeted her support for Casandra 'Cassie' Ventura on Wednesday following the shocking split verdict at her disgraced 55-year-old ex's seven-week federal criminal trial. 'Cassie, I believe you,' Kesha - who boasts 43.1M social media followers - tweeted. 'I love you. Your strength is a beacon for every survivor.' Diddy was facing life in prison before a jury of eight men and four women found him not guilty of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. However, the rap mogul was found guilty on two counts of the Mann Act aka transportation for the purposes of prostitution for flying paid escorts around the country for his baby oil-drenched sex orgies dubbed 'freak offs.' Both Cassie and 'Jane Doe' - who testified at the trial - submitted letters to US District Judge Arun Subramanian requesting Diddy remain held at MDC Brooklyn's Special Housing Unit before his sentencing, which he granted Wednesday evening. Between 1978 and 1991, the notorious serial killer raped, killed, and dismembered 17 boys and men In 2022, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan released their dismally-reviewed Netflix crime thriller, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, starring Evan Peters (M), which depicted his unimaginable crimes and the victims desperate for justice Subramanian scheduled a remote hearing for next Tuesday at 2pm ET to address the detailed scheduling for sentencing, which happens October 3 at 10 a.m. ET. The three-time Grammy winner - who's already been incarcerated for 10 months - faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, but prosecutors hope the sentence is at least 51 months (4.25 years). But some legal experts are predicting Diddy will face far less time - as little as 18 and 24 months. The Harlem-born hip-hop star's legal battles are far from over as he still has over a hundred civil lawsuits from accusers including Joi Dickerson-Neal, Liza Gardner, Rodney 'Lil Rod' Jones, Crystal McKinney, April Lampros, Adria English, Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith, Dawn Richard, Thalia Graves, Ashley Parham, Bryana 'Bana' Bongolan, LaTroya Grayson, Phillip Pines, and Joseph Manzaroc. It's been two years since Kesha settled her nine-year legal battle against her former producer Dr. Luke - whom she accused of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse as well as workplace discrimination (all of which he denied). The Yippee-Ki-Yay singer also parted ways with the 51-year-old Grammy nominee's (born Łukasz Sebastian Gottwald) Kemosabe Label as well as RCA Records and Vector Management. Kesha proudly 'gained back legal rights over my own voice' and her sixth studio album Period - dropping this Friday - will officially mark the first from her very own label, Kesha Records. Kesha told TMZ: 'Yes, it will be [permanent]. The fans should learn it for my upcoming [shows]. I want to hear it louder than ever. I stand by that. I'm not the kind of person that shuts the f*** up. I know what I stand for, I know my integrity is rock-solid, so I speak the truth' 'Cassie, I believe you,' Kesha - who boasts 43.1M social media followers - tweeted. 'I love you. Your strength is a beacon for every survivor' Kesha and the Scissor Sisters will next bring their joint 26-date The T**s Out Tour to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA on Thursday night 'For this chapter I really wanted to capture the moments where I felt liberated, safe, happy, playful, hot, horny, but all of it was coming from a whole place. I feel very whole,' the Brentwood High School drop-out told People. 'Now all of my energy gets to focus back on my true purpose — helping people feel seen, loved, safe and f***ing entertained as hell. My power is all back in my hands, and I'm excited.' Kesha and the Scissor Sisters will next bring their joint 26-date The T**s Out Tour to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA on Thursday night.
