OIC, Gulf Research Center Hold Symposium on Occasion of Hajj Season
In the context of the OIC General Secretariat's cooperation and coordination with cultural institutions and bodies in Member States, and as part of its commitment to promoting and developing cultural content, the General Secretariat, in cooperation with the Gulf Research Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held a virtual cultural symposium on the occasion of the Hajj season, titled "Acculturation in Hajj".
This symposium aims to address the phenomenon of the Hajj ritual as one of the most prominent living examples of acculturation in human and Islamic history, where millions of Muslims from different continents, ethnicities, and sects gather in one place and at one time, each carrying their own language, heritage, and cultural experience.
This exceptional gathering creates dialogue and spiritual relationships, and weaves cognitive and human bonds, the effects of which are evident in language, dress, customs, traditions, and even in schools of jurisprudence and scholarly styles that are active during the Hajj season.

Egypt, U.S. FMs Discuss Strategic Partnership, Regional Crises in Washington
Nada Mustafa Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington to discuss ways of strengthening the close bilateral ties between Egypt and the United States (U.S.), as well as to exchange views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern. Durong their meeting, Abdelatty conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to President Donald Trump, affirming Egypt's pride in its longstanding strategic partnership with US. Moreover, he expressed Egypt's keenness to continue close coordination and cooperation with the U.S. administration under President Trump's leadership to deepen the partnership in political, security, military, and economic spheres, especially during this critical period for the Middle East. He also reiterated Egypt's interest in resuming the U.S.-Egypt Strategic Dialogue on a regular basis. Both ministers explored avenues to boost economic, trade, and investment cooperation. In this regard, Abdelatty praised the outcomes of the Egypt-U.S. Business Forum held in Cairo last May, which saw the participation of more than 50 American companies, including 12 firms entering the Egyptian market for the first time. This, he noted, reflects Egypt's commitment to attracting foreign investment and enhancing economic partnerships with the United States. Furthermore, the two ministers emphasized the importance of continuing coordination to convene a new round of meetings for the Joint Economic Commission and another edition of the Egypt-U.S. Business Forum to expand bilateral economic cooperation. The talks included extensive discussions on urgent regional developments, foremost among them the catastrophic situation in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, and ongoing challenges in Libya, Syria, Lebanon, and Africa, as well as concerns related to Egypt's water security. On the Palestinian issue, Abdelatty reiterated the necessity of reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of ending bloodshed and ensuring the sustained flow of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory, which is suffering from a deliberate Israeli starvation policy. He also called for urgent action to address the worsening humanitarian crisis and stressed the need to revive a political horizon for a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian cause. This includes restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. In addition, Abdelatty expressed hope for continued close collaboration with the U.S. administration to lay the foundation for comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East that serves all peoples of the region. Regarding Sudan, the two ministers discussed the importance of securing a ceasefire and facilitating humanitarian access. In the same context, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Sudanese state institutions, emphasizing respect for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. As for Egypt's water security, Abdelatty conveyed Egypt's concerns over the Nile River issue and reaffirmed Egypt's position that any agreement must comply with international law governing transboundary water resources. He stressed the urgent need to reach a legally binding agreement regulating the operation of the Ethiopian dam and rejected Ethiopia's unilateral actions, which violate international norms. OPEN// FM stresses need to maintain pressure on Israel to halt its aggression on Gaza
CAIRO, July 29 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted the urgent need to intensify international pressure on Israel to halt its brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip and its use of starvation tactics against civilians, actions that constitute a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law. These remarks came during Abdelatty's meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy on the sidelines of the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, held at the UN headquarters in New York. Abdelatty praised the recent positive momentum in Egyptian-British relations, noting that this progress will soon be formalized through the upgrading of bilateral ties to the level of a strategic partnership. He asserted Egypt's commitment to capitalizing on this momentum to deepen cooperation in various fields, particularly in economic, trade and investment sectors, in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries. During the meeting, the Egyptian foreign minister also briefed his British counterpart on the latest developments concerning ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. He outlined Egypt's ongoing preparations to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction, in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations. OPEN// Egypt airdrops humanitarian aid over Gaza as per President Sisi's directives
CAIRO, July 30 (MENA) - Egypt continues to intensify its relief efforts for the Gaza Strip in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Commander of the Armed Forces, to support the Palestinian people in overcoming their current humanitarian crisis. As part of these efforts, and in coordination with all relevant international and regional actors to help alleviate the deteriorating conditions in the territory, four Egyptian military transport aircraft have departed, carrying tons of food aid to be airdropped over areas in Gaza that remain inaccessible by land. This operation reflects Egypt's ongoing commitment to mitigating the severe humanitarian challenges facing Gaza's population, particularly in light of the acute shortages in essential supplies. It is being carried out in parallel with Egypt's continued overland aid deliveries. Since the outbreak of the crisis, Egypt has played a leading role in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance, coordinating with other nations to dispatch thousands of tons of aid, of which Egypt has contributed nearly 80% of the total volume sent to Gaza to date.
