Sara Rivers From Diddy's ‘Making The Band' Sues Mogul For Sexual Harassment
The new court filings obtained by HipHopDX came just ahead of New York City's Gender Motivated Violence Act's 'lookback window' coming to an end on Friday (Feb. 28).
Rivers is demanding at least $60,000,000 in damages for 'extreme emotional distress impacting nearly every aspect of Plaintiff's life and personal relationships' which she claims occurred while she was filming the show in 2002.
Rivers' lawsuit claims she endured 'inhumane' treatment while filming, such as having her eating and sleeping schedules controlled, being forced to share a room with four men despite being married, doing unpaid manual labor and being ridiculed for her appearance. She also alleges that Diddy 'interfered' with her music career for years after her time on the show, including 'sabotaging' several record deals.
The suit also accuses the 55-year-old of allegedly 'using his left hand to adjust collar of her jacket and [running] his left hand across her breasts, while repeating the phrase 'if she needs anything to let him know.''
Diddy's legal team issued a statement to HipHopDX refuting Rivers' claims. 'This is yet another example of false claims being filed against Mr. Combs,' they stated. 'No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won't change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.'
'We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason,' they continued. 'With the deadline for New York's Gender-Motivated Violence Act expiring tomorrow, it's clear that opportunists are rushing to file last-minute, meritless claims. Mr. Combs remains confident he will prevail in court.'
Rivers is backed by attorney Ariel Mitchell, one of the individuals Diddy sued for defamation in a $50,000,000 lawsuit filed in January.

French appeals court clears two over first lady gender rumours
A French appeals court Thursday overturned convictions against two women accused of libel against French First Lady Brigitte Macron, after they spread false claims she used to be a man that reached the United States. Disinformation on Macron's gender has circulated on social media for years. She has also been attacked over the 24-year age difference with President Emmanuel Macron. The 72-year-old first lady, whose maiden name is Trogneux, has a brother called Jean-Michel. Brigitte Macron filed a libel complaint against two women after they posted a YouTube video in December 2021, alleging she had once been a man named Jean-Michel. In the video, defendant Amandine Roy, a self-proclaimed spiritual medium, interviewed Natacha Rey, a self-described independent journalist, for four hours on her YouTube channel. Rey spoke about the "state lie" and "scam" she claimed to have uncovered -- that a certain Jean-Michel Trogneux had changed gender to become Brigitte, then married the president. They discussed surgery she was supposed to have undergone, and revealed personal information about the first lady's brother. The claim went viral, including recently among conspiracy theorists in the United States. A lower court in September last year ordered the two women to pay 8,000 euros in damages to Brigitte Macron, and 5,000 euros ($5,500) to her brother. But the Paris Appeals Court on Thursday let them off, including over a false claim of "grooming a minor", arguing they had made the mistake in "good faith". The defendants will no longer have to pay the damages. The court did not provide further explanations. In a separate case, four men are to appear in court in October in Paris over allegations they harassed the first lady. Among the accused is Aurelien Poirson-Atlan, born in 1984, a publicist known on social media as "Zoe Sagan" often linked with conspiracy theory circles. Former US first lady Michelle Obama, ex-vice president Kamala Harris and New Zealand ex-premier Jacinda Ardern have also been the target of disinformation about their gender or sexuality. cbr/ah/jj

Last year, I wrote about the growing trend of people sharing the "microfeminisms" they practice daily — the small but redemptive, affirming, and powerful acts aimed at making the world just a little more equitable for women. (The trend began when creator Ashley Chaney coined the term in a viral video sharing how she confronts subtle misogyny at work with "microfeminist" acts, such as addressing women first in emails, even if less senior. Thereafter, thousands, and I really do mean thousands, joined in, and the term stuck. Personally, I think it should be added to Merriam-Webster now or something.) The trend has resurfaced on TikTok once again, but this time, a user prompted, "I wanna hear more. I'm not talking about 'Oh, I always address women first.' I'm talking unhinged behavior." The replies, of course, delivered, and were just too good not to share. D.L. Hughley Rips 'Morally Bankrupt' Fans For Celebrating Diddy Verdict

Schwartz / Getty The moment Sean 'Diddy' Combs was found not guilty on the most serious charges in his sex trafficking and racketeering trial, we all should have expected social media to become an annoying place. We should have known the 'Free Tory' segment of the Black manosphere , as well as the same Black people who are still caping for R. Kelly and Bill Cosby, would erupt in celebration over what they consider vindication for the disgraced Bad Boy mogul. (I'm looking at you, Ray J and Boosie Badazz.) This is why it's gratifying to hear at least one Black male celebrity speak out against celebrations of the Diddy verdict. During a recent sit-down with TMZ, comedian D.L. Hughley expressed that while he doesn't believe Combs was guilty of everything he was charged with, people should be celebrating justice — if they truly think justice is what happened here — not the verdict itself. Hughley appears to be of the opinion that Diddy was overcharged, but he also acknowledged that the trial revealed 'stuff that is amoral.' 'I think that it's clear that Puffy wasn't charged for the things he did. He was charged in this vague, amorphous…the judge even during the trial, you could see he was having a hard time buying it,' Hughley explained. 'I think it shows two things: money will buy a great defense. I think if he's charged and he has a public defender, he's convicted.' 'They didn't charge him for domestic abuse. They charged him for all of these terms that they just couldn't prove,' he continued. As for the people who are celebrating Diddy's victory in court, Hughley didn't bother mincing words in explaining, essentially, that those people are trash. 'I think there are people who are morally bankrupt. I say that all the time,' he said. 'Even if Puffy wasn't convicted of the most serious [crimes], he still whooped a woman in front of everybody,' Hughley continued. 'Now he wasn't charged for that, and the feds wouldn't charge him for that. Obviously, the feds wouldn't be involved in something like that. But it speaks to who we are as a society. Even if he's not guilty of the crimes charged, he is a horrible dude. I can root for a man to get justice, that's different than celebrating this verdict. They're two different things.' Look, D.L. Hughley is not a legal expert — nor are most of the people who were in the streets acting like the ghost of Nelson Mandela was just freed from prison — but he seems to understand basic humanity perfectly well.
