USA Today28-05-2025
More than 400,000 Toyota cars are being recalled due to light failures that could impact visibility.
According to a notice first reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on May 19, the recall covers 443,444 cars with model years 2022 through 2025.
The reverse lights on affected cars may fail over time due to moisture entering the light assemblies. If both lights fail, it may reduce visibility for the driver when backing up and fail to notify pedestrians and other vehicles that the car is reversing, increasing crash risk.

Rovanpera delights home crowd with Rally of Finland victory

Finland's Kalle Rovanpera boosted his bid for a third world rally championship title with a dominant win in front of his home fans in the Rally of Finland on Sunday. The 24-year-old Toyota driver, world champion in 2022/23, competing in his birthplace swept the points, securing 35, having also won the 'Power Stage' and the 'Super Sunday' to move into second place, just three points off series leader Elfyn Evans. Rovanpera, winning his home rally for the first time, recorded his 17th career win, second this term, beating two other Toyota drivers Japan's Takamoto Katsuta and Sebastien Ogier of France. Ogier lies in third place overall, 13 points adrift of Evans, who finished fourth and replaced Ott Tanak on top of the title standings as the Estonian endured a nightmare race and finished 10th. The Hyundai driver's hopes of victory had disappeared when he was slapped with a five-minute penalty after an incident on Friday. Tanak left the control zone after tyre scanning before receiving permission from a scrutineer and struck the official with his front bumper resulting in minor injuries. His sanction also carries a suspended penalty of 35 championship points. The title race looks set to go down to the wire with just five races remaining, though, defending champion Thierry Neuville's hopes of defending his crown dimmed further as he finished sixth. The drivers move on to the Rally of Paraguay, which runs from August 28-31. nb/pi/nr

Ford Recalls Over 300,000 Cars Due to Potential Brake-Related Issue. See the 5 Affected Models

Ford Motor Company is recalling 312,120 vehicles due to a potential loss of brake assist that can increase the risk of a crash. The U.S. auto giant is recalling five different models of Ford vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The latest recall comes just over a month after Ford issued one affecting nearly 200,000 vehicles due to issues involving the electrical system and the latches and locks on the cars. In April, Ford issued a recall for two potential problems affecting more than 148,000 cars. One could cause brake fluid to leak and reduce brake functionality, while the other could cause a vehicle rollaway and a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Here's what to know about the recall issued on July 28. Why Are Ford Vehicles Being Recalled? The potential for an Electronic Brake Booster module to malfunction while driving or while the driver is using an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) can result in the loss of power to brake assist, according to the NHTSA. The brake assist issue can extend the distance it takes to stop and increase the risk of a crash. If drivers are using ADAS features, a loss of power to brake assist can result in the vehicle not braking as expected, per the NHTSA. What vehicles are part of the recall? The recall affects the following models: 2025 Ford Bronco 2025 Ford Expedition 2025 Ford F-150 2025 Ford Ranger 2025 Lincoln Navigator What Should You Do If Your Vehicle Is Subject to the Ford Recall? You can take the vehicle to a dealer and have the software for the Electronic Brake Booster module updated free of charge, according to the NHTSA notice. The software can also be updated over-the-air, meaning it can be sent remotely by Ford without a visit to a dealership. Letters notifying owners of any vehicles subject to the recall are expected to be mailed on Aug. 25, and owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. The number for this recall is 25S77. This article was originally published on

More than 300,000 Fords just got recalled for a brake issue you can't ignore

Ford is recalling more than 300,000 vehicles over concerns that problems with the power brake assist system could lead to a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued the safety notice, noting that the issue could extend stopping distances for a vehicle in motion. Switch Auto Insurance and Save Today! Is one coming near you? The affected vehicles are 2025 versions of Ford's Lincoln Navigator SUV, F-150 and Ranger trucks, and Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger SUVs. According to the NHTSA, the vehicles might also experience malfunctions in the electronic brake booster (EBB) module when using the advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) feature, which could similarly interfere with the power brake assist system and cause an accident. For affected vehicles, the EBB issue can be resolved with an over-the-air software update or at a dealership for free. The new recall is the latest in a spate of recent recalls for the automaker. In July, Ford recalled almost 700,000 vehicles over a fuel leak problem that could cause a fire under the hood. That recall, which impacted some Bronco Sport and Ford Escape models, was the result of a yearlong investigation into ongoing problems with the vehicles' fuel injectors. Just prior to that, an even wider recall was issued over worries about the low-pressure fuel pump on more than 850,000 Ford vehicles. Car recalls are on the rise broadly, but Ford's issues stand out. The manufacturer tops the list for the most vehicle recalls in the U.S., though the company's leadership hopes to nip future issues in the bud by holding new vehicles for an extra phase of quality checks. 'What we're going to see long term is fewer recalls and lower warranty costs because of this new process,' Ford CEO Jim Farley said in an earnings call last year.
