Chirag Paswan says he will contest Bihar polls, backs demand for domicile policy in government jobs
Paswan, who heads the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), made the announcement while addressing a rally in Saran district that borders his Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency.
"People have been asking me whether Chirag Paswan will contest the assembly elections. I want to announce from Saran that yes, Chirag Paswan will contest the elections for the sake of a better future of Bihar," he said, evoking thunderous applause.
"I will contest the election for the people of Bihar, for my brothers, mothers, for my sisters. We will build a system in Bihar that will truly take the state forward on the path of development. I will realise the dreams of my father and work for 'Bihar first, Bihari first'. I will live and die for Bihar and its people," he added.
Paswan also supported the demand for introducing a domicile policy for government jobs in the state, becoming the only NDA leader to do so.
Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has promised implementation of "100 percent domicile" if the Mahagathbandhan, helmed by his RJD, came to power in the state after the elections.
"For the sake of the youth of Bihar, I am in support of the introduction of a domicile policy in government jobs. This has been a long-standing demand of job seekers," Paswan said.
"I must inform you that the domicile policy was introduced in 2006, but it was withdrawn by the opposition parties when they came to power. The RJD and Congress never think about the betterment of the youth of the state. They always mislead people. If they come to power, they will snatch over half of your wealth via inheritance tax," he claimed.
The Nitish Kumar government has already ruled out the possibility of the introduction of a domicile policy, stating that any such move would be against the Constitution.
Attacking the RJD, Paswan alleged that the people talking about Bihar's development now are the ones who had ruined the state in the '90s.

Dalai Lama's reincarnation
Beijing [China], July 6 (ANI): The Chinese government has reiterated its stance on the reincarnation of the Tibetan spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama, with Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong stating that the process is inherently an internal affair of China, adding that 'no interference by any external forces will be allowed.' In a post on X, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong wrote, 'It has been noted that some Indian officials recently made some remarks regarding the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama.' The Chinese envoy further highlighted that the government 'opposes any attempts by overseas organisations or individuals to interfere in or dictate the reincarnation process.' He also emphasised that Xizang is an 'inalienable part' of China's territory. 'Tibetan Buddhism traces its origins to China's Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The primary regions where Tibetan Buddhism is practiced are within China. The lineage of the Dalai Lamas took shape and evolved within China's Tibet region,' he wrote on X. The envoy also cleared the government's stance, asserting that the 'conferment of their religious status and titles is the prerogative of the central government of China.' Xu Feihong also stated that the Chinese government upholds the principle of independence and self-governance in religious affairs. He also emphasised that 'no interference by any external forces will be allowed.' 'The reincarnation and succession of the Dalai Lama is inherently an internal affair of China. The Chinese government upholds the principle of independence and self-governance in religious affairs and administers the reincarnation of Living Buddhas, including that of the Dalai Lama, in accordance with the law. No interference by any external forces will be allowed,' the envoy wrote on X. The Tibetan community in exile celebrated the 90th birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama with traditional fervour and devotion at the Sambhota Tibetan School in Chhota Shimla on Sunday. The event was marked by vibrant cultural performances, prayers, and speeches from dignitaries, including the Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Mukesh Agnihotri, who was present as the chief guest. The event was marked by vibrant cultural performances, prayers, and speeches from dignitaries, including the Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Mukesh Agnihotri, who was present as the chief guest. Dalai Lama celebrated his 90th birthday in Dharamshala on Sunday with an address focusing on the values of compassion, service, and the Bodhichitta way of life. Speaking before a gathering at the Tsuglagkhang temple, he reflected on his spiritual journey and urged everyone to follow a path of kindness and selflessness. In his speech, the Dalai Lama spoke about the importance of love, unity and service to others. 'As far as I am concerned, I have a human life. As humans, it is natural for us to have love in our hearts for one another and to help one another. Since we came from a country where the Buddhist religion and spirituality have spread, there is a strong sense of brotherhood and sisterhood amongst us. The main practice is, as said in the Bodhisattva way of life -- considering all beings as my friends and relatives, and I always think of serving beings with the best of my abilities,' he said. He thanked the gathering for attending the celebration with joy and warmth. 'Today, my dear Dharma friends, and to all my friends, I wish to say that it is my 90th birthday celebration, and you have happily and with great excitement gathered here and with joy in our hearts. I would like to thank you for that. So, on this 90th birthday celebration of mine, you have come here with great joy in your heart. So thank you,' he said. On the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama's birthday, heartfelt messages poured in from world leaders, politicians, lawmakers, and artists in a video compiled by Tibet TV, which is run by the Tibetan government-in-exile, CNN reported. LJP-RV President Chirag Paswan declares to contest upcoming Bihar Assembly polls
Saran (Bihar) [India], July 6 (ANI): Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president and Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Sunday officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections while addressing a gathering in Saran. He said, 'Today, from this sacred land of Saran, I am declaring before all of you that yes, I will contest the election. I will contest the election for the people of Bihar, for my brothers, for my mothers, for my sisters, and we will create a system in Bihar, we will build a Bihar that will truly take the state forward on the path of development.' Earlier today, Paswan had carried out the 'Nav-Sankalp Mahasabha' from Chhapra to Nav Bihar, starting at the Rajendra Stadium in Chhapra. While hitting out at the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) over comprising the development of the state, he added, 'In the coming days, regarding the inheritance tax, the way Congress, RJD, and all their allies think about taxing the property that belongs to you generation after generation. The people who talk about development in Bihar today are the same opposition leaders who had ruined Bihar in the 90.' However, the Union Minister, while reacting over the murder of businessman Gopal Khema, expressed worry over the 'rising crime' and the 'collapse of law and order' in the state, and urged for putting pressure on the state government to bring the perpetrators to justice. 'It is a matter of worry the way crime has risen and law and order has collapsed in Bihar. If such an incident has happened in a posh locality of Patna, then we can only imagine what is happening in villages. It is worrying to see such incidents occur under a government that was known for good governance; then the opposition will have a chance to speak up. Strict action needs to be taken to set a precedent so that such a thing is not repeated,' Paswan told mediapersons here. On July 4, businessman Gopal Khemka was allegedly shot dead near his residence in the south area of the Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Following the incident, Bihar Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder case. The murder has evoked sharp political reactions from the opposition parties and put the spotlight back on the law and order situation in the state. LJP (Ram Vilas) is part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with Janata Dal (United) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). LJP is expected to keep on allying with the NDA for the upcoming Bihar polls, however Paswan has not yet confirmed his stance on it. (ANI)

‘Babasaheb Ambedkar's socialism was for the welfare of the nation, state and people, not for personal politics': Prakash Ambedkar
As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) commemorated 50 years of Emergency in June, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has called for a review of the terms 'secular' and 'socialism' in Preamble, putting the party in a dilemma. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi president and grandson of Dr BR Ambedkar, Prakash Ambedkar, talks about the controversial issues in an interview to Shubhangi Khapre. Q) How do you look at RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's call for reviewing the term 'secular' and 'socialism' in the Preamble? It is neither shocking nor surprising as the RSS has never adopted the Indian Constitution in totality. But I would like them to read the BJP Party Constitution, which mentions socialism and secularism. Q) Is it not a fact that terms socialism and secular were not in the original Preamble? Why? When Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was asked about this, he said, 'When each and every article contains the word secularism and socialism both in letter and spirit, where was the necessity otherwise?' Instead, he emphasised on its effective implementation. There were heated debates even in the past over these words. But those questioning and citing Babasaheb Ambedkar for excluding socialism and secularism from the Preamble have neither studied nor understood the life and works of the architect of the Indian Constitution. The Constitution itself holds a universal message. It is all encompassing and inclusive. Q) How did Ambedkar view socialism? Babasaheb Ambedkar's socialism was for the welfare of the nation, state and people. This is evident from the economic model where he defined roles and rights of the Centre, state, public and private sector. His socialism was not for serving personal politics. His concept was for overall human welfare. His economic model was three parts — essential lifeline of nation, central government, necessary industrial welfare of people, state government, and ancillary units/industries, private sector. His was not short-term approach. He was farsighted. Q) Technically, these two words were inserted by Congress PM Indira Gandhi? When Indira Gandhi took charge of the new regime in 1971, she embarked on a nationalisation policy — from banks to abolishing privy purses in the erstwhile princely states. These words made way to the Preamble, keeping the political context and decisions taken then. Q) What are your objections to the RSS ? Whether it is RSS or the BJP, they are all working on a broader common agenda. The BJP is moving towards authoritarian rule. They are against democracy. The Indian Constitution is the biggest hurdle in their agenda as it guarantees democracy and rights to equality, brotherhood and justice. The right wing wants to thrust on nation and its people their own agenda, which is regressive. Q) Even Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda has called for replacing secularism with 'dharma'? What Shankaracharya has stated is part of the same RSS/ BJP game plan. They want to replace Constitution with Sanatan… As I said there are two streams in this country — one is the religious stream upper caste Brahminical dominated rites and rituals, the other tradition is of saints and seers who advocated reforms, ended caste-based discrimination and united people. Now, the right wing agenda is to bring authoritarian rule in every sector. Q) Whether it is Centre or state, the BJP has adopted Ambedkar and hailed the Constitution as globally best work? This is their strategy. They know there are people who are committed to Ambedkar's Constitution. So, while the RSS keeps questioning it, a section tries to keep upholding the Constitution. Ultimately, their larger plot is to get rid of Constitution or modify it to their advantage. Q) What is the Opposition doing? Including your party. I admit the Opposition has lost the political will to fight RSS/BJP wholeheartedly. The Congress, which is the largest pan-Indian party, is picking on smaller issues. They are clearly overlooking at bigger issues. There is leadership issue in Congress. The NCP ( SP) also seems to have reconciled to political realities. As far as Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi is concerned, we have limitations. We are not a national party. Yet, I have been raising my voice and speaking my mind on critical subjects.
