Report: Bengals, Trey Hendrickson resume communication as he seeks contract extension
The Bengals have resumed communication with Trey Hendricks as he seeks a long-term contract extension, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.
Fowler characterized the conversions as delivering 'some optimism' regarding the edge rusher's future with the team.
Hendrickson skipped the entire offseason program. Hendrickson, who is under contract for 2025, now is subject to a $16,459 fine for missing the first day, $32,920 for the second day and $49,374 for the third day for missing last week's mandatory minicamp.
He did show up to the team's workout May 13, dressed in street clothes, to air his grievances about the Bengals' 'lack of communication.'
Hendrickson, 30, is one of three of the league's best edge rushers looking for a long-term deal. Dallas' Micah Parsons and Pittsburgh's T.J. Watt also currently are in stalemates with their teams.
Hendrickson made clear he will not play this season under his current deal. He is scheduled to make a base salary of $15.8 million with a salary cap hit of $18.6 million in 2025.
Hendrickson has four consecutive Pro Bowls since joining the Bengals and has 17.5 sacks in each of the past two seasons. He earned All-Pro honors last season after leading the league in sacks.

Dan Corso, Lee's son, expressed his desire that his father's last ride be in Tallahassee on the same date for the matchup between Alabama and Florida State, where Corso played quarterback and cornerback and was also on the baseball team. Herbstreit, though, responded to the confirmation that Ohio Stadium as the last location for his buddy as a perfect ending, showing support for his friend and for what it'll mean for GameDay fans and college football fans in general. Not only should the game be much-anticipated, but you can bet the GameDay crew is putting together plenty of moments and reflections from what Corso has meant to college football through the years. The feds are investigating NBA player Malik Beasley over gambling
The proliferation of legalized gambling has had plenty of unintended consequences. In the NBA, another serious set of consequences could be playing out. reports that federal authorities are investigating Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley on gambling allegations. Advertisement The case traces to the 2023-24 season, when Beasley played for the Milwaukee Bucks. A prominent sportsbook detected "usually heavy betting" on Beasley's stats in January 2024. "An investigation is not a charge," attorney Steve Haney told "Malik is afforded the same right of the presumption of innocence as anyone else under the U.S. Constitution. As of now he has not been charged with anything." The NBA told that it is cooperating with the investigation. Last year, Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter received a lifetime ban from the NBA for his role in a gambling scheme based on Porter's "under" propositions in multiple games. The NFL has managed to avoid a major gambling scandal since the U.S. Supreme Court opened the floodgates for states to adopt spots betting in 2018. It feels as if it's just a matter of time before it happens in America's most popular sport.

Julius Randle contract: Timberwolves forward plans to sign new deal, per report
All-Star forward Julius Randle plans to sign a new contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, ESPN reported Sunday, June 29. The deal is expected to be for three years and $100 million, according to the ESPN report. Randle originally signed a four-year, $117 million contract extension in 2021 when he was with the New York Knicks. His player option for the 2025-26 season is worth $30.9 million, and he had to decide by June 29 whether to exercise that option. The three-time All-Star was traded before the 2024 season to Minnesota, and the Knicks received Karl-Anthony Towns in the three-team swap. Randle, 30, averaged 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in 69 games for a Timberwolves team that advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive year. But in that series, in which the Oklahoma City Thunder eliminated the Wolves in five games, Randle scored 20 or more points in three of the five games, but scored only six and five points in Games 2 and 4, respectively, both losses.
