Dubai Police successfully recovered and returned a valuable jewellery bag belonging to a UAE resident in a coordinated effort with Bangladeshi authorities and the UAE Embassy in Dhaka. The jeweller, who lives in Dubai, was attending a jewellery exhibition in a GCC country when the mix-up occurred.

How the mix-up happened
A specialised investigation team quickly uncovered that a Bangladeshi traveller had mistakenly taken the jeweller's bag during security checks, confusing it for his own due to the bags' striking similarity. Meanwhile, the jeweller had unknowingly taken the other traveller's bag. The Bangladeshi traveller had already flown back to Bangladesh by then.
Dubai Police promptly initiated legal and administrative procedures and coordinated directly with the UAE Embassy in Dhaka and Bangladeshi authorities. Thanks to this collaboration, the jewellery bag was located and safely returned to its rightful owner in the UAE.
Recognition of collaborative efforts
Dubai Police expressed sincere appreciation for the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Abdulla Al Hamoudi, and his team, who facilitated all necessary procedures. Dubai Police also praised the strong partnership with Bangladeshi authorities, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in law enforcement to ensure justice, protect rights, and promote community safety.
The jeweller expressed heartfelt thanks to Dubai Police for their swift and professional handling of the case. 'I truly don't know how to find the words to express my appreciation,' he said. 'Your remarkable attention to detail and sincere commitment to making people happy are beyond commendable.'

Another facet of the authority's remit will be dealing with chemicals used for non-medical purposes. This involves developing licensing mechanisms, trading and storage conditions and customs clearance procedures to ensure the lawful use of chemicals and preventing their misuse in illegal activities.

Dubai arrests 2 men for channelling illegal funds via digital wallets
Two men have been arrested in Dubai for duping several people into using their bank accounts or digital wallets to channel funds obtained through online fraud. Investigation by Dubai Police's Anti-Fraud Centre revealed that the men used social media to target and convince individuals into sharing their banking details or open new accounts or digital wallets for small amounts. The men then used these accounts to channel the illegal funds to deceive the authorities by not leaving a money trail. Following their arrests, the officers confiscated several electronic devices and payment cards associated with the fraudulent accounts, and started legal proceedings against the criminals. Dubai Police, which released details as part of its ongoing awareness campaign "Be Aware of Fraud", urged the public to avoid engaging with suspicious banking offers or sharing personal details with unofficial sources. They also highlighted that such actions could unintentionally implicate individuals as accomplices in the crime, resulting in serious legal consequences. The authority called on the public to promptly report suspicious financial activities through the "eCrime" platform or the Dubai Police smart app.

Abu Dhabi: Employee wins Dh50,930 in unpaid wages, along with return flight ticket
The Abu Dhabi Labour Court has ruled a case in favour of an employee involving unpaid salaries, dismissal without proper notice, and other employment-related claims. The First Instance Court ordered the employer to pay the worker Dh50,930, along with Dh1,500 for a return flight ticket to his home country and an experience certificate. In the court case, the employee claimed that his employer failed to pay his salary from October 1, 2024, until the end of his employment on April 5, 2025. He also requested compensation for unfair dismissal, lack of notice, unused annual leave, and a return flight to his home country. The employer denied these claims and, in a counterclaim, demanded Dh12,200, stating the employee had collected payments for invoices but failed to hand over the money. The court appointed an accounting expert to verify the claims. Based on the evidence and testimonies, the court ruled: Delayed salaries: The employee was awarded Dh43,167 for unpaid wages between October 1, 2024, and April 5, 2025. Notice period compensation: The court found the termination violated UAE labour law and awarded Dh7,000 as compensation for lack of notice. Annual leave: The employee was awarded Dh770 for unused leave. Travel ticket: The court granted Dh1,500 or the cost of a one-way economy-class ticket to the employee's home country, unless he joins another employer. Experience certificate: The court instructed the employer to provide the worker with a certificate of experience. The court rejected the request for 12 per cent interest on the unpaid amount due to the absence of a prior agreement and ruled there was no evidence of unfair dismissal caused by a complaint or legal action. In the employer's counterclaim, the court ruled in favour of the company, ordering the employee to pay Dh12,200 after accepting sworn testimony that he had collected payments and failed to hand them over. In the final judgement, the court ruled that the employer must pay the worker Dh50,930, Dh1,500 for a return travel ticket and also an experience certificate. Each party to bear their own legal costs related to their claims.
