When will Delhi Metro start operations on International Yoga Day? Check time and other details
India will celebrate the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025. To facilitate the movement of Yoga enthusiasts, Delhi Metro will start operations at 4am that day from all originating stations, according to a statement.
'Delhi Metro services will commence from 4am from all originating stations on 21st June 2025 (Saturday) to facilitate the movement of yoga enthusiasts on the occasion of International Day of Yoga, 2025,' the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation posted on X.
It also said the services will be available at an interval of 30 minutes till the starting of regular services. "Services will be available on all lines at an interval of 30 minutes from 4 am onwards till the commencement of passenger services as per daily timetable", it said.
As India gears up to celebrate International Yoga Day, the government is organising several events nationwide to mark the occasion. This year, the theme will be "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." Yoga Sangam, the main event, will feature a synchronised mass yoga demonstration based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) at over 1 lakh locations across India on June 21 from 6:30am to 7:45am.
PM Narendra Modi will lead the event at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. These events will portray the shared commitment of India towards yoga and its relevance in today's world. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also confirmed that the government will hold yoga events at 11 locations across the city on June 21. She also said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga Day is being recognised on the world stage and every country is adopting Yoga with great affection.

From crash site to decoding lab: India handling AI-171 probe entirely in the country
By Naveen Kapoor New Delhi [India], June 27 (ANI): The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) Lab in New Delhi, is currently working intensively to examine data retrieved from the black boxes of Air India Flight AI-171, which crashed in Ahmedabad earlier this month. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Crash Protection Module (CPM) from the front black box was safely retrieved, and on June 25, 2025, the memory module was successfully accessed and its data downloaded at the AAIB Lab. Sources familiar with the process told ANI that an identical black box, referred to as a 'golden chassis,' was used to confirm whether data could be accurately recovered from the black boxes. One black box was recovered from the rooftop of a building at the crash site on June 13, and the other from the debris on June 16. The investigation is being led by AAIB officials and includes technical members from the Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) from the United States, which is the official investigative agency of the country of the aircraft's design and manufacture. The Director General of AAIB is heading the probe. An aviation medicine expert and an Air Traffic Control officer have also been included in the investigation team. Sources confirmed that the NTSB team is currently stationed in Delhi and working closely with Indian authorities at the AAIB Lab. Officials from Boeing and GE are also present in the national capital to assist with the technical process. India, as a signatory to the ICAO Chicago Convention of 1944, is following all international rules and procedures as per ICAO Annex 13 and the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2017. The investigation is being conducted in a fully transparent and time-bound manner, in line with global norms. Before the crash of Air India Flight AI-171, AAIB used to send black boxes of damaged aircraft and, in some cases, even helicopters to overseas decoding centres in countries like the UK, USA, France, Italy, Canada, and Russia. Indian labs earlier lacked the equipment and dedicated facility to retrieve black box data from serious aviation accidents. That has now changed, and the AAIB Lab in Delhi is fully equipped to decode both Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR) and Flight Data Recorders (FDR) within the country. A source told ANI that although AAIB was formed in 2012 to investigate major aviation accidents, it remained under-equipped and limited in its functioning until 2017. It was only after the Central Government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, pushed for the development of home-grown technology in defence, aviation, and other strategic sectors that AAIB began to receive advanced tools and technical upgrades. As a result, India is now decoding black boxes of a major air crash within the country for the first time. In earlier crashes, black box decoding was mostly done abroad. In the 1996 Charkhi Dadri crash, black boxes were decoded by IAC in Moscow and the CVR in Farnborough, UK. In the 2010 Mangalore crash, recorders were repaired and decoded by the NTSB in the US. In the 2015 Delhi crash, decoding was done at the engineering lab of Canada's Transportation Safety Board. In the 2020 Kozhikode crash, the CVR and FDR were downloaded at DGCA's flight recorder facility, but the data was processed with help from the NTSB. Such dependence often led to concerns about delays and the credibility of investigations. But now, with the AI-171 crash investigation being carried out entirely in India, supported by international cooperation and equipped with advanced tools, this marks a major milestone in India's aviation safety journey. Officials believe this will lead to faster, more transparent investigations and strengthen public trust in India's ability to handle major air accidents independently. (ANI)

Coming up near Delhi's Najafgarh drain, a ‘recreational & social space'
The Irrigation and Flood Control Department (I&FC) plans to develop a government plot along the Najafgarh drain near Vipin Park in Dwarka as a 'community recreational and social space', officials said. This aligns with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's earlier announcement of the government's intentions to develop a riverfront project along the 57-km-long Sahibi river, now known as the Najafgarh drain. This is, however, not the first time a rejuvenation project related to the river has been planned — in 2022, the then AAP government had allocated a budget of Rs 705 crore for its revival. According to officials, the department has invited a tender to hire a consultant to plan and design the layout of the project. 'According to the official plan, the proposed park is set to come up on 21 acres. As part of this, a water fountain, walking tracks, an outdoor gym, cricket, as well as children's play areas will also be developed,' said an official. The Chhath Ghat at ITO, located along the polluted Yamuna river, is also to be developed as part of the proposal, the official added. The department has set a target of three months within which the design and cost estimation for the project will be prepared. 'The proof-checking of the structural drawings will be undertaken by the IIT-Delhi or IIT-Roorkee, or Delhi Technological University,' said the official. The Najafgarh drain, which enters Delhi near Dhansa and flows to meet the Yamuna near Wazirabad, is among the largest contributors of pollution in Delhi. In all, 22 open drains open to the Yamuna in the city.

The AP Mega DSC recruitment and the implementation of an annual job calendar were among the promises made in the run-up to the 2024 elections by the newly formed government. Of the total vacancies, 14,088 are at the district level, while 2,259 are for state or zonal level positions. The vacancies include 6,371 posts for secondary grade teachers (SGT), 7,725 in school assistants (SA), 1,781 in trained graduate teachers (TGT), 286 in postgraduate teachers (PGT), 52 principals, and 132 physical education teachers (PET). After the exam is over on July 6, the APDSC answer keys will be made available by July 8. The objection window will be opened against provisional answer keys and final answer keys will be released seven days after the last date to raise objections. The result is expected to be released in the last week of July.
