Kanwariyas assaulted in Kashi, FIR lodged against 12 accused, six arrested so far
As per the devotees, they were allegedly told by the attackers to 'Stop saying 'Bol Bam'... and say 'Allah Hu Akbar' instead.' The incident took place on July 28, around 5 pm on the Rajatalab-Jansa highway.
A case was lodged against 12 accused, including charges of attempted religious conversion, assault, and robbery. So far, six people have been arrested, including the main accused, Munawwar.
Police said raids were on to catch the remaining suspects. As per the local sources, Shubham Yadav and Paltu Yadav, the two devotees, were walking from Adalpura and were on their way to Jansa Shiva Temple.
While walking with the Kanwar, they were chanting 'Bol Bam' and 'Har-Har Mahadev' when around 10–12 Muslim youths intercepted them near a mosque.

Noida: A news channel in Noida has lodged a complaint against three Samajwadi Party workers and a Muslim cleric for alleged breach of peace after the maulana was slapped inside the studio for his remarks against MP Dimple Yadav, police said on Thursday. The SP workers slapped Maulana Sajid Rashidi inside the news channel's studio in Noida after a debate show. One of them also posted a purported video of the incident on social media, taking responsibility of the act Rashidi had allegedly made a derogatory comment against the Mainpuri MP over her visit to a mosque recently. On Tuesday, Rashidi went to attend a news channel's debate programme in Noida, where he was slapped by the youths. On the complaint of the news channel, an case under BNS sections 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) was registered against Rashidi and three SP workers -- Shyam Singh, Mohit, and Kuldeep Bhati, Incharge of Noida Sector 126 Police Station Bhupendra Singh said. 'I did not mean to insult anyone, I commented on the basis of Islamic beliefs. If I committed any mistake, it does not mean that I should be treated like this,' Rashidi told PTI. 'My comment was given a political angle and because of that political drama has been created. There is a way of law. I will also give my explanation. And whatever I had said, an FIR was filed against me in Lucknow,' the maulana said. Rashidi claimed that since the incident he has been getting threatening messages and calls on WhatsApp and social media. 'I have requested the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Delhi for my safety. I have also complained against three of them at sector 126 police station,' he added. Meanwhile, Shyam Singh, the SP worker who allegedly slapped Rashidi, said, 'He has insulted MP Dimple Yadav, and on the news debate program as well he made derogatory comments on her.' 'We have also lodged a complaint against him at Surajpur Police Station in Gautam Budhha Nagar,' he added. Kuldeep Bhati, who claimed to be state secretary, Yuvjan Sabha, Samajwadi Party, posted a video on social media site 'X', saying Maulana Rashidi has been 'treated'. 'We will treat in the same way to anyone, who will make derogatory comments against any women of India,' he added in his video.

The world of intelligence is full of remarkable stories, but few are as striking as that of Ravinder Kaushik, a young theatre artist from Rajasthan who lived for years as a Pakistani Army Major. Known by the code name 'Black Tiger," Kaushik is remembered as one of India's most valuable undercover spies whose journey ended in suffering far from home. Kaushik was born on April 11, 1952, in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, near the Punjab border to J.M. Kaushik and Amla Devi. His father served in the Indian Air Force. Ravinder studied at S. D. Bihani P. G. College, where he was known for his stage performances and mimicry. These very talents would later become key to his recruitment by RAW (Research and Analysis Wing). Becoming Nabi Ahmed Shakir In 1973, at the age of 23, Kaushik was selected by RAW. According to Sadashree, he told his family that he was going to Delhi for a job. In reality, he was beginning his journey as an undercover operative. Kaushik then underwent two years of intense training where he was taught Urdu, Islamic theology, Pakistani social customs and national culture. As per the report, to erase all traces of his Indian identity, he not only converted to Islam but also underwent circumcision and was given a new name: Nabi Ahmed Shakir. By 1975, he had fully assumed this new identity. He was sent to Pakistan, where he enrolled at Karachi University and earned a law degree. Later, he joined the Pakistan Army's Military Accounts Department and rose through the ranks to become a Major. For years, Kaushik passed crucial intelligence to India from inside Pakistan. His information reportedly helped save thousands of lives. According to Economic Times, nearly 20,000 Indian lives were protected because of the inputs he provided. His ability to blend in was unmatched. It was so convincing that even his Pakistani wife, Amanat, never suspected that he was living a double life. His work earned him the code name 'Black Tiger," reportedly given by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. One Mistake That Changed Everything In 1983, tragedy struck. As per Sadashree, another RAW agent, Inyat Masih, was caught by Pakistan's Joint Counter-Intelligence Bureau. Under intense torture, Masih revealed Kaushik's identity. The ISI then arranged a trap by setting up a meeting between the two. Kaushik was then arrested in a public park. What Happened After He Was Caught Kaushik was taken to an interrogation centre in Sialkot where he was tortured for nearly two years. In 1985, Pakistan's Supreme Court sentenced him to death. Later, the sentence was reduced to life imprisonment. He spent the next 16 years in various Pakistani prisons. Despite numerous appeals, the Indian Government chose not to intervene. It was a diplomatic decision to avoid international scrutiny. But for Kaushik and his family, it was devastating. In his prison letters, he often spoke about his pain. 'Kya Bharat jaise bade desh ke liye kurbani dene waalon ko yahi milta hai?" he wrote in one of his letters as quoted by Sadarshree. Just three days before his death, he reportedly said, 'Had I been an American, I would have been out of this jail in three days." The End Of His Journey Kaushik died in November 2001 at Mianwali Jail in Pakistan, after spending nearly two decades behind bars. Despite all he had done for the country, his story remained hidden from the public for years. Midtown Manhattan shooting: Hundreds mourn NYPD officer at Bronx mosque; Bangladeshi-born cop hailed for sacrifice
(Photo credit: Agencies) Hundreds gathered at a New York mosque on Thursday to commemorate a Bangladesh-born police officer who lost his life protecting his adopted city when a shooter attacked an office building this week. Officer Didarul Islam "did believe in the American dream, not as something handed down but as something built with your own hands," Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch addressed Islam's community as officers stood in formation outside the Bronx religious centre. Officials and New York's Bangladeshi community members gathered to honour the deceased officer during a service that highlighted his dedication to family, heritage and public service. The 36-year-old officer, a married father of two expecting a third child, was conducting an NYPD-approved private security assignment in uniform when he and three others were fatally shot Monday at the Manhattan high-rise housing the NFL's headquarters and various corporate offices. "To our family, he was our world. To the city, he was a proud NYPD officer who served with compassion and integrity. He lived to help others," Islam's widow said in a message delivered by a family member at the Parkchester Jame Masjid mosque, according to the Associated Press. Officers positioned on nearby rooftops provided security whilst fire engines displayed a large American flag across the street. A vehicle carried a digital display showing Islam's photographs and a tribute from his union. After immigrating to the United States, Islam established his career in America's largest police department. He viewed policing as "a blanket of the community, there to provide comfort and care," according to the police commissioner. Initially serving as a school safety agent, Islam became a patrol officer less than four years ago and received a posthumous promotion to detective on Thursday. "He could have gone into any other occupation he wanted, but he wanted to put on that uniform, and he wanted to protect fellow New Yorkers. And he wanted to let us know that he believed in what this city and what this country stood for," Mayor Eric Adams told attendees. In Washington, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt commenced her briefing by conveying President Donald Trump's sympathies to Islam's family, noting he "made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of his fellow New Yorkers." Imam Zakir Ahmed emphasised the officer's immigrant background and Muslim faith, whilst noting Islam "lived at a time when people like him are too often feared, vilified and made to feel like outsiders." Following the service, attendees filled the streets for prayer, including Muslim officers, as their colleagues maintained formation behind them. The officer's casket, adorned with US and NYPD flags, was transported to Totowa, New Jersey, for burial. Julia Hyman, 27, another victim who worked at a real estate firm, was remembered at a Manhattan synagogue service on Wednesday. Funeral arrangements remain unannounced for security guard Aland Etienne and executive Wesley LePatner. Police identified Shane Tamura, 27, as the assailant, a former football player who recently worked in Las Vegas casino surveillance. Authorities discovered over 800 ammunition rounds in his vehicle and 47 shell casings at the scene. Officials reported Tamura had mental health issues and found prescribed psychiatric medication at his Las Vegas residence. He mistakenly accessed the wrong floor whilst attempting to reach the NFL office. The shooting seriously wounded an NFL employee in the lobby. Governor Kathy Hochul stated at Thursday's service that Islam "saved lives. He was out front," adding that "others may be alive today because he was the barrier."
