Malcom Simmons' 2025 Auburn football player profile

USA Todaya day ago
Malcolm Simmons was productive in Auburn's offense last season and will be just as valuable in 2025.
Two members of the "Freeze Four" had breakout seasons in 2024, and are looking to make an even bigger splash this season.
Alongside Cam Coleman, Malcolm Simmons made a name for himself as a member of Auburn's receiving corps as a true freshman in 2024. He logged over 40 catches in his debut season and made a statement early by hauling in three catches for 91 yards and a score in his first-ever game against Alabama A&M.
Simmons was valuable in short-yardage situations, as 32 of his 40 catches were on plays less than 10 yards. His short game opened him up to make bigger plays, as he logged six catches for 183 yards and two scores on plays that gained 10-19 yards. He will team up with Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton to give Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold plenty of options at different depths throughout the year.
Here is a look at Simmons' player profile ahead of the 2025 season.

Spartans wide receiver Nick Marsh named to Phil Steele All-Big Ten team

One of the Spartans' wide receivers has been named to a popular preseason All-Big Ten list. Phil Steele is back again this year with his preview content for the upcoming college football season, which includes his All-Big Ten teams. Steele has put together four All-Big Ten teams, and Spartans wide receiver Nick Marsh cracked the list. Steele has Marsh on the All-Big Ten fourth team along with DT Sheffield of Rutgers and Ja'Kobi Lane of USC. Marsh -- who has a four-star prospect in the 2024 class -- had a pretty solid freshman season this past year, recording 41 receptions for 649 yards and three touchdowns. He was especially important in two of the Spartans' top wins against Maryland and Iowa as well last season. Marsh is expected to have a big year for the Spartans this upcoming season, so it's not surprising to see him included on Steele's list of top wide receivers from the Big Ten. I personally would have him on one of the higher teams, but also understand he needs to prove it first -- I'm sure he will this upcoming fall. USA TODAY Sports places new-look Auburn at No. 25 in 'too-early' rankings

How quickly will Auburn's new-look roster become one of the nation's elite? Outside of Tahaad Pettiford, Auburn basketball's roster will look completely different from last season's Final Four squad. That storyline is the driving force behind college basketball experts being skeptical when putting high expectations on the Tigers heading into the new season. USA TODAY Sports recently dropped its updated too-early top-25 rankings following the end of the transfer portal window and the NBA draft. The team of Eddie Timanus, Paul Myerberg, Jordan Mendoza, and Erick Smith believes that Auburn will, once again, be a challenger for the Final Four. However, the Tigers will need to prove that they can contend with a new roster. Due to the uncertainty, USA TODAY has placed Auburn at No. 25 in its latest "too-early top-25." The guys at USA TODAY feel that Auburn's rebuilding efforts through the transfer portal and junior college recruiting will keep them in the national eye this season. Experienced stars led Auburn last season, but the entire starting unit is gone following the tough loss of Chad Baker-Mazara to Southern California. Bruce Pearl knew he had to replenish the roster, and he did so with significant recruiting and transfer classes. Keyshawn Hall (Central Florida) and Kevin Overton (Texas Tech) arrive after strong seasons, and there's intrigue with the Tigers bringing in the top junior college transfer, Abdul Bashir. A new crop of players will join Tahaad Pettiford, the one key returnee that had a big role in the Final Four squad. Pettiford will slide into the point guard role following the departure of Denver Jones to graduation. The front court will have the most questions this season as starters Johni Broome and Dylan Cardwell, as well as key bench piece Chaney Johnson, are out of eligibility. Look for transfer Keyshawn Hall, Keshawn Murphy, and a junior college product Emeka Opurum to take over the Tigers' four and five spots as they look to return to the Final Four in 2026. Mets' Juan Soto's claim amid hot stretch will frighten opposing pitchers

The post Mets' Juan Soto's claim amid hot stretch will frighten opposing pitchers appeared first on ClutchPoints. The New York Mets are trying to rediscover consistency, and Juan Soto's confidence at the plate may be just what the team needs to flip the switch. New York has lost 9 of its last 14 games, including three straight blowouts in Pittsburgh last weekend at the hands of the Pirates. But after a narrow 6-5 win over the New York Yankees in the Subway Series opener, one of baseball's most dangerous hitters is sending a message loud and clear. Advertisement In a video shared by SNY TV on X, formerly known as Twitter, Soto didn't hold back when asked how he's feeling at the plate. 'I just feel good right now. I'm seeing the ball really well.' Those words should concern pitchers across the league. Even with the Mets offense hitting a cold patch, Soto remains locked in. In June, he slugged 11 home runs and batted .322 — continuing to deliver at a time when most of the roster cooled off. When a hitter of Soto's caliber says he's tracking pitches that well, it often signals a breakout stretch. That could be bad news for opposing starters, especially as the Mets look to shake off recent struggles. Advertisement Though the club has dropped series to the Pirates, Atlanta Braves, and Phillies over the last three weeks, they've managed to stay afloat in the NL East standings. At 51-38, New York remains just half a game back of first-place Philadelphia. Soto's consistent production has been a stabilizing force amid the skid — and if his rhythm continues, the Mets offense might be ready to snap out of its slump. Timing matters. The Subway Series always adds pressure, and the Mets slugger thrives in it. With elite plate discipline that ranks among the best in baseball, Soto forces pitchers to adjust the moment he steps in. Even during the team's recent slump, his swing remains a threat. With home field advantage and a 32-13 record at Citi Field, New York has the pieces to climb back on track. The pitching staff has shown flashes, and the bullpen has held leads when given the chance. And if Soto's bat stays loud, their push toward the top of the NL East standings could reignite quickly. His presence in the heart of the order forces pitchers into mistakes, and few are better at capitalizing. For a team searching for stability amid recent struggles, having a hitter like Soto locked in could be exactly what gets them back to their winning ways.
