Nicolas Kuhn to RB Leipzig transfer latest as Celtic reject bid for striker

Daily Record5 days ago

Reports in Germany had suggested that the Bundesliga giants were in 'advanced talks' to land Kuhn
German giants RB Leipzig have yet to firm up their interest in Nicolas Kuhn.
The Bundesliga cracks have the 21-goal winger on their transfer wishlist this summer.

Reports in Germany had suggested Leipzig had been in "advanced talks" with Celtic over a deal.

But Record Sport understands there has been no official bid tabled for the 25-year-old attacker.
Celts are in no rush to sell Kuhn and are in a strong bargaining position, with the ex-Rapid Vienna star under contract until 2029.
The Hoops Double-winner is on the radar of several European clubs, with Italian Serie A side Como the latest to be linked.
However, Kuhn is expected to report back to Lennoxtown for pre-season training and as things stand, remains a key part of Brendan Rodgers' plans.
Meanwhile, Celts have turfed out a £500,000 bid from Bolton for Irish striker Johnny Kenny.

Kenny, 22, spent a prolific spell on loan with Shamrock Rovers last season before returning to Parkhead in January.
He spent the second half of the campaign on the fringes behind Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah, but did net his first goal for the club in a 5-1 rout at Pittodrie.
The frontman has admirers down south and it's believed the Trotters launched a bid to prize him to EFL League One.

But the opening offer was swiftly rejected by Parkhead chiefs.
It remains to be seen whether Wanderers will come back with an improved proposal.

Rangers ‘in talks to sign English Premier League star' who helped fire Russell Martin's Southampton to promotion

Aarons and Lyall Cameron, who had already agreed a pre-contract deal in January, are the only new arrivals at Ibrox this summer. But midfield help could soon be on the way and in the form of a man very familiar to Gers boss Russell Martin. According to the Rangers Review, Rangers are in talks with Bournemouth over a deal to sign Joe Rothwell. The 30-year old has a wealth of experience in English football and has played in both the Premier League and Championship. The report claims the Gers are in discussions over a permanent move for Rothwell, with a two-year deal reportedly on the table pending an agreement. He has one year left to run on his Bournemouth contract. Born in Manchester, Rothwell spent 15 years as a youngster at Manchester United but didn't manage to make a first team breakthrough. He had loan stints at Blackpool and Barnsley before moving permanently to Oxford in 2016. After two years there, he had a successful four-year spell at Blackburn where he made more than 150 appearances. Ex-Rangers supremo David Murray on the club's new owners and why Gio shouldn't have been sacked His form at Ewood Park earned him a crack at the Premier League with Bournemouth signing him on a free transfer in June 2022. Rothwell played regularly in his first season at the club and into the first half of the 2023/24 season. In January 2024, he linked up with new Gers boss Martin at Southampton. He joined the Saints on loan for the remainder of the season and played a key role in their promotion charge. Rothwell returned to the Championship last season, spending the entire campaign at Leeds United. He made 36 appearances as he played a major role in securing yet another promotion success. Leeds went up as Championship winners. Rangers are, of course, now owned by a US consortium that includes 49ers Enterprises who own Leeds. Rangers in talks with Bournemouth over Joe Rothwell transfer

The 30-year-old played under Russell Martin at Southampton as he helped them to win promotion to the Premier League while on loan from the Cherries. Rothwell then spent last season on loan at Leeds United, once again winning promotion out of the Championship and making 36 appearances along the way. With one year left on his deal, Gers chiefs are in talks with Bournemouth over a permanent deal as reported by Rangers Review. The Light Blues have already signed one player from Bournemouth in this window, right-back Max Aarons on a year-long loan deal. He is another known to Martin after playing together at Norwich. Lyall Cameron is the other summer signing to date and would be in direct competition with Rothwell in the middle of the park, along with Connor Barron, Nico Raskin, Mohamed Diomande, Nedim Bajrami and Bailey Rice. Meanwhile, Rangers are close to appointing ex-Arsenal goalkeeping coach Sal Bibbo as part of Russell Martin's staff.

The reason Andy Robertson won't make Celtic transfer any time soon

The Liverpool star has been linked with the Anfield exit door and is a well known Hoops boyhood fan Andy Robertson and his future have been one of the big talking points of the summer window to date. Liverpool are in a summer of transition with Arne Slot splashing the cash and that has included a new left back with Milos Kerkez arriving in a big money deal from English Premier League rivals Bournemouth. ‌ That has cast some doubt over the long-term future of the Scotland skipper and his game time at the Reds next season and has posed the question whether it is time to move on. ‌ Atletico Madrid have been linked in recent times with a swoop for the right-back, and Rangers hero and talkSPORT host Ally McCoist has asked whether following Scotland colleagues like Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay abroad is something that would appeal. Celtic is a name that isn't far when Robbo is mentioned as a boyhood fan, but McCoist reckons Kieran Tierney's arrival in Glasgow's east end would eliminate any chance of Brendan Rodgers swopping - while he believes a move home is "too early". But one thing he is certain about is, if he decides it is time to move on, the offers at his door won't be in short supply. Speaking on the talkSPORT Breakfast show, McCoist said: "By far an away he still has some great years ahead of him to play. "The one thing he is, is extremely fit. in terms of his ability to get up and down that left-hand side. Truthfully, too early for him to go back to Scotland, I think. I do. ‌ "[Kieran] Tierney, going back to Celtic, you would think would eliminate that club straight away. "Could he follow in the footsteps of the likes of [Billy] Gilmour, [Scott] McTominay, [Che] Adams and [Lewis] Ferguson? "100 per cent there would be no shortage of offers for Andy Robertson at home or indeed abroad. "I don't know if he fancies two or three years abroad. If he did, nobody on the planet could grudge him it. "He's been a fantastic servant to Liverpool, Scotland and wherever he has been."
