And one name now on the list who could play in various midfield roles and provide extra cover is Merlin Rohl.
The Germany under-21 international is currently starring at the UEFA Euro Under-21 Championships - where he will come up against three Liverpool players in this weekend's final.

The 22-year-old plays his club football for Freiburg in the Bundesliga - although he struggled with a couple of injuries last season.
Despite those setbacks, Rohl is seen as a future star - capable of playing in the offensive midfield positions as well as doing the dirty work in the middle.
Rohl deal will break €25m record
Described by former Ingolstadt coach Thomas Oral as a 'complete' midfielder, Rohl has been compared to Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka and has been attracting plenty of attention from the Premier League.
In a recent report in Sport Bild, Everton were named as suitors, and the paper has also detailed Liverpool's interest.

Crystal Palace and Newcastle have all got Rohl on the radar but he would surely be most intrigued by a move to the Premier League champions if the opportunity arose.
He extended his contract back in September 2024 - meaning his club side are reasonably well protected from a transfer fee perspective.
Kevin Schade represents the Bundesliga club's biggest-ever sale - with Brentford paying around €25m for the German international - and Bild suggests it would take a similar bid to move Rohl.
Everton are reported to have made two bids already with an intention to return to the table this summer. If Liverpool are going to get involved in the bidding, they will have to strike soon.

Arguably the finest player on the pitch vs Mainz was none other than Michael Olise. It's little surprise why Olise has finally begun to draw the attention of the national team. After impressing for France in their silver-place finish in last summer's Summer Olympics alongside the likes of Rayan Cherki and Desire Doue, Olise has finally managed to make his mark for France's senior team. Bayern Munich are going through a transition in attack. Leroy Sane has left Bayern for Galatasaray, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry could be headed for the exit door this summer, while Thomas Müller has confirmed his departure after 25 years at the club. However, in Olise, they have a player who is capable of leading the charge for Bayern's attack not just in the long term, but the short term as well. And after winning the first trophy of his career, he's hungrier than ever to add another piece of silverware with the FIFA Club World Cup underway.
