
Impaired driver charged after crash: OPP

A local driver is facing impaired driving charges after they allegedly crashed their vehicle in New Tecumseth early Tuesday morning.
According to Nottawasaga OPP, officers responded to a call at around 1 a.m. for vehicle in the ditch on Highway 89 near County Road 56.
Police say the officers met with the driver after locating the vehicle, forming grounds that the driver was impaired by alcohol.
The 27-year-old driver from Cookstown was charged with operation while impaired, operation with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres, and driving with liquor readily available.
The accused was scheduled for a Wednesday court appearance to answer to the charges.

Suspect sought after woman sexually assaulted on TTC streetcar
Police say the man in the photo is wanted in a sex assault investigation. Toronto police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting and harassing a woman on a TTC streetcar at Union Station earlier this week. Police said they got a call for a sexual assault at the downtown transit hub just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday. A man on board streetcar #4432 approached a female passenger and allegedly sexually assaulted and harassed her. On Sunday, police released a photo of the suspect, believed to be between 35 and 45 years old, five-foot-six, with short black hair. He was last seen wearing glasses, a white shirt, beige pants and carrying a black backpack. On June 24 at about 10 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 400 in Seguin Township. After speaking with the driver, police initiated an impaired driving investigation. As a result, a 38-year-old Parry Sound man was charged with speeding and two impaired driving offences – including operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot and arrested a 46-year-old local man, charging him with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams. In addition to the charges, the vehicles involved was impounded by police for seven days at the owner's expense and both accused also received a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension. Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear in court in Parry Sound on July 31. 'Make the call' OPP urged the public to report suspected impaired drivers in a related social media post. Sarnia man arrested for causing a disturbance

Officers received reports of a man walking into traffic in the area of Christina Street and Wellington Street, and threatening bystanders around 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Officers found the suspect in front of city hall and attempted to speak with him. According to police, the man began yelling at the officers to ensure they were, 'aware of his personal beliefs regarding their job performance, legal knowledge, and arrest authorities.' Police say the incident was disruptive to anyone within earshot, including a nearby patio. The man allegedly raised his fists toward police and threatened violence. Officers used a Taser against the man and brought him in to custody. The 54 year old was charged with mischief, causing a disturbance, and breach of probation.
