Special Bay Area screenings of ‘A Minecraft Movie' let fans meme and yell ‘chicken jockey' freely

' A Minecraft Movie ' fans can sing, chat, laugh and clap as loud as they want during new special screenings of the viral film.
Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, which distributed the movie, have organized a 'Block Party Edition' of the instant hit, set to take over theaters on Friday, May 2, for one day only.
These screenings will encourage audience participation throughout the 101-minute run time of the film, providing ample opportunity for moviegoers to take part in the various memes inspired by the comedy — such as yelling 'I am Steve' and 'Chicken jockey,' lines Jack Black's character, Steve, delivers in the movie — freely. The latter phrase derives from the culture of the video game from which the film is adapted, referring to the rare occurrence of a baby zombie riding a chicken.
'Block Party Edition' screenings will be hosted across North America and in select international markets. Locally, Minecrafters can participate at six AMC locations across the Bay Area, from downtown San Francisco to San Jose.
Advance tickets are available online now.
'A Minecraft Movie' was released on April 4 and quickly made headlines for attracting rowdy audiences that disrupted theater crowds, prompting many cinemas to enforce rules against audience participation.
The film has grossed more than $816 million globally as of Wednesday, April 30, and beat out Sacramento native Greta Gerwig 's domestic opening weekend for ' Barbie,' by earning $163 million.
Following the immense success of the film, Warner Bros. executives Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy revealed to Deadline that though 'the ink might not be dry' on the deal, they are looking to make a sequel.

Dylan Walsh pay tribute to 'Nip/Tuck' co-star Julian McMahon

Dylan Walsh is remembering his 'Nip/Tuck' co-star. After Julian McMahon died on Wednesday at the age of 56 following a private battle with cancer, the 'Unforgettable' alum, 61, shared a touching message for the late actor. 'Dear Jules, I know you like to flout the boundaries but this time you've gone too far.' Walsh said in an exclusive statement to the New York Post on Saturday. Now it's just us. You'll kiss me on the cheek and say 'Bye Dyl. Goodbye, Jules.' 9 Julian McMahon as Dr. Christian Troy and Dylan Walsh as Dr. Sean McNamara. ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection Walsh previously told Deadline after news broke on Friday: 'I'm stunned. We rode this wave together and I loved him.' 'My heart goes out to Kelly and [his daughter] Maddy,' he continued. 'Jules! I know you'd want me to say something to make you smile — all the inside jokes. All those years you had my back, and my god, we laughed. My heart is with you. Rest in peace.' 'Nip/Tuck,' which aired for six seasons from 2003 to 2010, followed longtime friends Dr. Sean McNamara (Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (McMahon), who ran a plastic surgery practice together. 9 Dylan Walsh, Joely Richardson, Julian McMahon in 'Nip/Tuck.' ©Warner Bros/courtesy Everett Co Kelly Carlson, who played Kimber Henry on medical drama, took to Instagram on Friday, to share her thoughts on the 'Charmed' vet's death. 'I just heard about the passing of Julian McMahon,' the actress, 49, began in a video, 'and I've gotten a lot of really nice messages on Instagram and I just checked 'cause I was just told and I was trying to verify it, right? Because people can say stuff like that, but it looks to be true — and oh, my gosh, I'm completely shocked and saddened by it.' Touching on his health, Carlson admitted, 'I didn't know he wasn't well for a while. But I will say my heart goes out to Kelly, his wife, his daughter and Brooke Burns, his ex-wife, who they remain close friends and raise their daughter together and I think he has a sister…' 9 Dylan Walsh, Vivian Thibes, and Julian McMahon in 'Nip/Tuck.' ©Warner Bros/courtesy Everett Co 'The Marine' alum opened up about all of the good times she had portraying McMahon's wife on the hit FX show. 'It's tough to process a little bit because he played my on-and-off husband for several years, [he] was a good friend and my acting partner,' Carlson explained. 'Anyways, Jules, thank you for a great seven years on 'Nip/Tuck' together and we had so much fun.' 'I hope he had a peaceful journey. She told The Post on Saturday, 'Julian was one of a kind and will be very missed.' McMahon's wife, Kelly, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement to The Post Saturday morning, noting that the 'Fantastic Four' actor died in Clearwater, Florida. 'With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,' she detailed. 'Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.' 9 Julian McMahon in 'Profiler.' ©NBC/Courtesy Everett Collection 9 Julian McMahon attends the North American premiere of 'The Surfer' during the 2025 SXSW Conference in March. Most recently, McMahon starred in the 2024 film 'The Surfer' alongside Nicolas Cage, as well as the 2025 Netflix murder mystery series 'The Residence.' Cage, 61, told The Post on Saturday, 'Such deeply saddening news. I spent six weeks working with Julian, and he was the most talented of actors. Our scenes together on 'The Surfer' were amongst my favorite I have ever participated in, and Julian is one of my favorite people. He was a kind and intelligent man. My love to his family.'

NAUTILUS Episode 3 Sneak Peek Clip: Humility Makes Plans

On the next episode of AMC/AMC+'s Nautilus, 'What Lies Beneath,' we learn more about Georgia Flood's Humility Lucas and her ambitions. As an interloper on Nemo's (Shazad Latif) crew, filling in the corners of her story is key to understanding why she's so determined to stay on board the Nautilus. RELATED: TV Review: Nautilus Series Premiere The sneak peek clip below flashes back to a younger Humility, trapped in an engagement and herded by society towards a future she cannot abide. In the close quarters of a carriage, she proposes a plan to the curiously agreeable White Rajah (Richard E. Grant). He fleshes out the particulars of her travels as they approach his residence. Image Credit: Courtesy of AMC/AMC+ Nautilus, 'What Lies Beneath' As little as we know about Humility Lucas, we know even less about this White Rajah besides the fact that his name conjures images of the worst aspects of the British presence in South Asia. His home is luxurious, and his guests have servants assigned to see to their needs. In the clip, Humility has a conversation with a servant girl named Amalmus. Not sure how someone named Humility gets to comment on how funny anyone's name is, but it seems to build a rapport. Image Credit: Courtesy of AMC/AMC+ Real life catches up with Humility just as she and the White Rajah are about to go in for dinner. Accompanied by soldiers, Loti (Céline Menville) bursts in. Looks like she's more than Humility's accomplice. Possibly a governess? Or jailer? RELATED: AMC's Anne Rice's Immortal Universe Talamasca Series Casts Its Lead The synopsis of 'What Lies Beneath' draws together past and present. ' In Karajaan, the crew meets the eccentric White Rajah (Richard E. Grant), but can they trust his hospitality? Nemo discovers a shocking truth, and Humility and the crew learn who Nemo really is .' If Humility has a history with the White Rajah, and Nemo's crew are now in his power, did he send her to the Nautilus? New episodes of Nautilus air on AMC and AMC+ at 9 pm ET/PT on Sundays.
