Afeni Muhammad allegedly attacked her manager, Jennifer 'Jamma' Harris, after being sent home due to work performance issues.
A tragic incident unfolded at a McDonald's outlet in Eastpointe, Michigan, on Thursday, July 10, where a 26-year-old employee allegedly stabbed her manager following an argument. The manager later succumbed to her injuries.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the accused, Afeni Muhammad, attacked her manager, Jennifer 'Jamma" Harris, after being sent home due to work performance issues. Muhammad allegedly stabbed Harris at least 15 times inside the restaurant, located in the Detroit area.
Police said Harris had sent Muhammad home on Thursday morning after a disagreement. As per witness accounts cited in the report, Muhammad told Harris, 'I'll be back," before stepping out and heading to her car. She then returned to the restaurant wearing a mask and armed with a kitchen knife.
The violent assault was witnessed by a drive-thru customer who, in an attempt to stop the attack, fired a shot into the air. Though no one was injured by the bullet, the customer managed to detain Muhammad as she tried to flee the scene. The Eastpointe Police Department later arrived and placed her under arrest.
As per the report, the incident came just a day after Muhammad had posted a video on Instagram where she accused Harris of mistreatment at work. In the footage, Muhammad expressed her anger about being sent home early two days in a row and voiced her frustration with her supervisor.
'I got sent home early yesterday. I got sent home early today by the same person," she said in the reel.
'I'm telling you, she's a bully. This sh** isn't funny… She needs to understand that just because she's a mother and got children, that doesn't mean she can come in the store disrespecting people, talking like everybody is beneath her. She has no respect and it isn't funny at all," she added.

Muhammad, who goes by the name Risen Phoenix on social media, continued the video with more accusations against Harris.
'Like, seriously, man, I got sh** I need to take care of and she keeps sending me home early… she's playing games," she said.
In the video, Muhammad further alleged Harris of 'playing racial sh**, spreading negative energy and gossiping about people. That sh** gonna have to stop."
She also added, 'Then she tells me I am snapping at people. No, no, no, that's false, I don't snap at people. I don't go doing that. No, I make peace. I've been creating peace."
Jennifer Harris, 30, who had worked at McDonald's for 15 years, was a single mother of six. Following the attack, she was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries.
As per the reports, Muhammad was arraigned in court the following day. She is charged with first-degree murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent. The court set her bond at $25 million.
Her attorney stated that she is a high school graduate currently enrolled in online classes for physical therapy. 'There are disturbing facts in this matter, but other facts have not been brought out yet," the lawyer told the court, The Detroit News reported.
Prosecutors also revealed that Muhammad had a prior conviction related to another stabbing incident that occurred in a different state.
McDonald's franchise owner Yusef Alcodray issued a statement expressing grief over the incident.
'We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our hearts go out to the victim's family and loved ones. The violence of any kind is unacceptable in my restaurants, and we are taking this matter extremely seriously, as the safety and well-being of our employees and customers is our top priority," the statement read.
The restaurant has been closed and will remain shut until further notice as authorities continue their investigation.

Dhirios banned in Goa, but still held: Petitioner to HC

Panaji: Govt has assured the high court that it would look into the issue of bullfights, known as 'dhirios' in Goa. Advocate general Devidas Pangam gave this assurance after the HC was informed that dhirios were occurring rampantly in the state. Radhakrishna Salgaonkar has filed a contempt petition in the HC, alleging that despite the court's directions and a ban on bullfights in Goa, the activity has continued unabated. As proof, he presented an Instagram post promoting bullfights. He also drew the court's attention to a detailed complaint he had made to authorities, including the chief secretary, the DGP, the Animal Welfare Board, the director of animal husbandry and veterinary services, and the cybercrime police station. He alleged that none of the authorities took any cognisance of his complaint. The HC told the advocate general to obtain instructions regarding Salgaonkar's contention that some social media profiles were now deleted, but information about bullfights, and the sale of bulls for these fights, remained on social media. The division bench of the HC said that before issuing a notice to govt under the Contempt of Courts Act, the advocate general has assured the court that he would look into the matter. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Many Are Watching Tariffs - Few Are Watching What Nvidia Just Launched Seeking Alpha Read More Undo The court asked Salgaonkar to provide any information on dhirios to the advocate general and directed that the petition be listed on Aug 18. In 2023, the HC directed the DGP to prepare an action plan to prevent bullfights in Goa. The court directed the DGP to identify the organisers and suggest mechanisms with which police officers would be granted authority to prevent bullfights. People for Animals filed a contempt petition attaching several news reports, including six by TOI between Jan and Aug 2021, on bullfights taking place in Goa and bulls dying as a result. TOI reported at the time that bullfights were occurring almost every day between 3pm and 4pm, when there was less movement on roads, in the jurisdiction of the Colva police station. Statistics at the time indicated that South Goa accounted for double the illegal bullfight cases compared to North Goa, with the HC informed that most of these took place in the jurisdiction of the Colva police station. In Jan this year, TOI reported that one of the attendees of a bullfight near Benaulim beach was gored to death. Last month, the South Goa collector held a high-level law and order coordination meeting to prevent such events. The collector issued directions to police to maintain round-the-clock surveillance and take immediate action to prevent dhirios. She directed the deployment of various intelligence-gathering methods to identify locations where the illegal activities were being planned and to ensure swift intervention.

Pakistani TikToker Sumeera Rajput found dead, daughter alleges murder over forced marriage pressure

Pakistani TikTok influencer Sumeera Rajput was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her home in the Bago Wah area of Sindh's Ghotki district, in what is emerging as yet another case of violence against women content creators in the country. According to Pakistani media house Geo News, the 15-year-old daughter of the deceased has alleged that her mother was murdered by individuals who had been coercing her into a forced marriage for a long time. She claimed Sumera was poisoned with tablets that ultimately led to her death. While two suspects have been taken into custody, police are yet to file a First Information Report (FIR). Authorities say they are currently investigating whether foul play was involved. The case has renewed concerns over the growing number of attacks targeting women influencers in Pakistan — a pattern of gendered violence that has persisted despite public outrage. Sumera had over 58,000 followers and more than a million likes on TikTok. Her death comes just a month after another young TikToker, 17-year-old Sana Yousaf, was shot dead in Islamabad. Sana, who had amassed over 500,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, was shot at her home by a man who had allegedly been harassing her for months. The accused, 22-year-old Umar Hayat, reportedly killed her after she rejected his repeated 'offers of friendship.' The killing sparked a wave of outrage online, with hashtags like #JusticeForSanaYousaf trending on social media platforms such as X and Instagram. Born on June 2, 2008, in Upper Chitral, Sana came from a family of activists and was celebrated for her bold content that blended Chitrali folk culture with advocacy for girls' education and women's rights. A first-year medical student, she was seen as a rising voice challenging conservative gender norms in Pakistan. Sumera and Sana's deaths are the latest in a growing list of women influencers who have faced violence — often from within their own families or communities. In January, a 15-year-old was allegedly murdered by her father and maternal uncle in Quetta for refusing to give up TikTok. Both men were arrested and confessed, ARY News reported. The pattern is reminiscent of the 2016 murder of social media icon Qandeel Baloch, who was strangled by her brother in a so-called honour killing that drew global condemnation and ignited a national conversation about women's safety and freedom in Pakistan.
