Bihar should prepare for a surprise: Social media user drops ground report, hints at shock for jaati-obsessed netas

Time of India9 hours ago
A post on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked fresh conversation around Bihar's changing political mood. With elections on the horizon, a user named Sanjeev Singh shared his observation after visiting villages in Vaishali and Saran. His message was simple but powerful: development can no longer be ignored as an issue in Bihar.
'Those who claim that 'development' cannot be an electoral issue in Bihar should prepare for a surprise. People now have aspirations,' Singh wrote on X.
Singh's point appears to be supported by data. A 2023 study published in the Journal of Development Studies showed that 68% of rural Biharis now prioritise infrastructure and job creation over identity-based politics. This suggests a clear shift in what voters expect from their leaders.

Public reaction: Hope, questions, and concerns
Many netizens agreed with Singh, highlighting that the mindset of people is beginning to change. One user commented, 'If Bihar has to develop, the mindset of its people must change. Good to know that people are now talking about jobs, start-ups, and airports.' Another said, 'Bihar has always wanted development. The real question is whether voters will choose capable leaders, even if they don't align with their caste or religion.'
Live Events
A third user pointed out that development was once a focus: 'To be honest, Bihar did vote Nitish and Modi on development promises. But MPs and MLAs are either not vocal enough or not united to push for Bihar's growth.'
Why development still lags
Despite repeated efforts by the state government, Bihar has faced several challenges. These include heavy reliance on agriculture, a dense population, lack of industrialisation, and limited job creation. Migration remains high as many leave the state in search of better work opportunities. Infrastructure is still poor in many areas, and caste-based politics continues to influence elections.
Historical setbacks also played a role
Experts have long pointed to the Freight Equalisation Policy, which was in place from 1952 to 1993, as a factor that hurt Bihar's growth. The policy allowed industries from other states to access Bihar's mineral resources at lower transport costs, preventing Bihar from building a strong industrial base of its own.
As Bihar heads into another election season, it remains to be seen whether the call for development will finally outweigh the pull of identity politics.

China's assassination plot in Prague exposes CCP's global terror network

. National security experts are warning that China may repeat its apparent attempt to target Taiwanese political figures abroad, following revelations of a planned harassing incident during former vice president-elect Hsiao Bi-khim's March 2024 visit to Prague, the Taipei Times reported. Czech Military Intelligence confirmed that Chinese agents surveilled Hsiao and devised a plan to orchestrate a car collision with her motorcade. The plot, which never progressed beyond the planning stage, involved a Chinese diplomat tailing Hsiao's vehicle and even planning a "demonstrative incident," the agency told Taipei Times. A diplomat allegedly ran a red light, maintaining close surveillance of the Taiwanese delegation. A National Security Bureau official, requesting anonymity, stated that whether the order came from Beijing or local embassy officials, the scheme revealed China's "cross-border repression" tactics, actions that undermine international norms and diplomatic immunity. The official cited prior CCP operations aimed at Hong Kong activists like singer Denise Ho and analyst Lee Cheng-hao, asserting that Beijing is not hesitant to deploy proxies to intimidate critics abroad. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Joacă în sfârșit cel mai bun joc de strategie 2025 gratuit! He warned, "China's intelligence agencies are not hesitant to test countries, to gauge the tolerance of the host country." He also cautioned that future threats may target high-profile figures, such as former President Tsai Ing-wen. The public unveiling of a potential attack on Hsiao prompted strong international backlash. Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council condemned China's tactic as a serious breach of diplomatic conventions and demanded an official apology. The US House Foreign Affairs Committee described it as "criminality on display" and urged broader global condemnation. Taipei Times stressed that the scheme not only endangered Hsiao's life but also signalled an escalation in China's extraterritorial coercion, a tactic that democratic nations must respond to decisively. With rising threats of this nature, experts affirm that states must take a "zero tolerance" stance to protect Taiwanese and other democracy advocates abroad.

Watch: Nancy Mace reaches DC to vote for 'Big, beautiful bill' in pink pajamas, says her flights were cancelled

Nancy Mace reaches DC in her pink PJs to vote for Trump's spending bill after her flights were canceled. Rep Nancy Mace (R-SC) did not want to miss the crucial vote for Donald Trump's 'Big, beautiful bill' and so started on a road trip in her pink pajamas when she found out that her flights had been canceled. Nancy blogged on her way and bombarded her social media with her videos. "Come hell or high water, we were showing up to vote on the Big, Beautiful Bill today," Nancy wrote. In one clip shared on X, she wears her pajamas to a Wawa convenience store as AC/DC's 1979 tune 'Highway to Hell' blasts in the background. 'If D.C. had a theme song …,' she captioned the post. 'From one Waffle House waitress to another, thank you for showing up, working hard, and keeping the coffee hot,' she captioned the post. 'We haven't forgotten where we came from. On to DC to vote for the Big, Beautiful Bill.' — RepNancyMace (@RepNancyMace) Social media users were not impressed with her vlogging as users said that it was only an 8-hour drive from Charleston to DC but she made it look like a massive trek. 'What's wrong with this woman? What's with these videos where she's on pajamas etc? Who's doing her [social media]? 'Lone-wolf' terror attack in US ahead of July 4 celebrations? FBI raises alarm, issues dire alert

Local and federal authorities are likely preparing for potential threats during Fourth of July celebrations next weekend amid the growing tensions between the United States and Middle East. Attacks perpetrated by lone actors are the biggest terrorism threat to July 4th festivities in New York City and elsewhere, reported CNN, citing federal authorities. Tensions escalated on June 22, when the US Military bombed three key nuclear sites in Iran, according to Trump administration officials. America is all set to celebrate its Independence Day on July 4. Ahead of July 4 celebrations , alerts have been issued by federal authorities over lone actors perpetrating attacks in New York and other places which has become the biggest terrorist threat to July 4 festivities. Americans warned ahead of July 4 celebrations The FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies issued a joint bulletin in June saying 'the most significant terrorism threat facing the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks stems from lone offenders and small groups of individuals seeking to commit acts of violence.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If you have a mouse, play this game for 1 minute Navy Quest Undo ALSO READ: Diogo Jota's heartfelt message to younger brother Andre Silva resurfaces after their tragic deaths 'These individuals are often motivated by a broad range of racial, ethnic, political, religious, anti-government, societal, or personal grievances,' the threat assessment continued. Live Events The threat is not just limited around New York, but other large gatherings could also be targeted. The threat assessment added 'These individuals are often motivated by a broad range of racial, ethnic, political, religious, anti-government, societal, or personal grievances.' 'Special events with high attendance and media coverage … remain attractive targets' for domestic and foreign terrorists and violent extremists who may want to 'cause mass casualties or draw attention to their causes,' the bulletin said. The agencies said they had not received any reports of specific threats at the massive fireworks show or related events. However, 'high-profile, large events can draw interest from malicious actors looking for targets of opportunity to perpetrate criminal schemes,' the bulletin said. Law enforcement agencies had issued a similar warning during New Year's celebration when a driver intentionally rammed his truck into a crowd of revelers on January 1 in New Orleans' French quarter, killing 14 people. The suspect, a US army veteran who had served in Afghanistan, was killed by authorities in a shootout. US-Mid east tensions 'Due to the Iran conflict, the Department of Homeland Security has a National Threat Advisory System, and as of June 22, we are at a heightened threat environment,' Michael Verden, founder and CEO of security firm The Lake Forest Group, told Fox News Digital. 'That level will stay in place until September 22, and it could be extended based on the conflict in Iran.' Verden, a former USSS agent and law enforcement officer, added that certain 4th of July activities and travel will see increased security and precautionary measures 'because of this heightened threat environment.' 'Multiple recent Homeland terrorist attacks have been motivated by anti-Semitic or anti-Israel sentiment, and the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict could contribute to US-based individuals plotting additional attacks.' Tensions over the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza have been linked to a spate of recent violence in the United States, and authorities say similar attacks could erupt on July 4. 'Most attackers motivated at least in part by the Israel-HAMAS conflict have selected targets with a symbolic link to Israel, houses of worship, or locations associated with houses of worship. Individuals with grievances linked to the conflict could also perceive large gatherings, such as Independence Day celebrations, as opportunistic targets symbolic of the West in general,' the threat assessment said. Ahead of the 4th of July celebrations, authorities are also keeping an eye on the skies. The report flags the potential misuse of drones to disrupt or target large gatherings. "Although we have no credible, specific reporting regarding illicit plans to use UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) to target the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks," it says, "unauthorised UAS operations have the potential to increase public safety risks."
