Public warned over fake AI TikTok videos of Sultan of Pahang

KUANTAN: The Pahang Palace has identified several TikTok accounts disseminating artificial intelligence (AI)-generated videos featuring an image resembling the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
These fabricated videos, which falsely depict the Sultan of Pahang speaking, have been circulated by multiple accounts allegedly offering public assistance.
The Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page, in a posting, wrote that the AI-generated clips have been widely shared through accounts using names such as datuk_abdul_majid, datokfahrolaziz07, and datuk_abdul_majid7.
"The public is advised not to share these videos, click on any links, or trust the information presented, and to immediately report any suspicious content to the authorities.
"All the videos are false and fabricated.
"They misuse the Sultan of Pahang's image for fraudulent purposes in an attempt to deceive the public. His Royal Highness(Al-Sultan Abdullah) does not own any social media accounts," the statement read.
The palace stressed that all official announcements, activities, and royal decrees are only disseminated through the only verified 'Kesultanan Pahang' social media account on Facebook, which currently has around 725,000 followers.
On other platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, and X (formerly Twitter), only the name "Kesultanan Pahang" is used and the official website of the Pahang Palace is istanapahang.my.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant against cyber fraud and to refrain from spreading false or misleading content.

#NSTviral: Video of exchange at zebra crossing sparks debate on road manners

KUALA LUMPUR: A video of a motorcyclist stopping at a zebra crossing in the city, only to be honked at by another driver has drawn attention to road manners and the importance of respecting pedestrian crossings in the city. In a video posted by Facebook user driving4dummies, a short reel depicted the motorcyclist giving way to pedestrians before being confronted by a driver. The driver, driving a Proton X50 pulls up beside him, winds down the window, and questions why he stopped, claiming it was unnecessary. "He then repeatedly asks whether he had hit the motorcyclist, suggesting there was no need to give way unless contact was made," he said. Despite the confrontation, the user remains composed and explains that vehicles are legally required to stop when pedestrians are waiting to cross. The driver, however, continues to press the point before eventually driving off. In a caption accompanying the video, driving4dummies urges fellow road users to observe the rules and stop at pedestrian crossings. "I was honked at. I was scolded. But I still stopped. Because I know… every crossing carries a life. "Sometimes it's an elderly person. Sometimes a small child. And sometimes, it's someone I know personally. We stop not because of the rules, but out of respect" he said in the caption accompanying the video. The incident ended on a conciliatory note where in a follow-up post, the Facebook user said he later met the driver, who offered an apology. "I have a chance to meet Brother X50. We greet and forgive, with an open heart. "Maybe through the incident with this Brother X50, we can all pay attention to the zebra crossing issue in Malaysia, a place where there are many people who find it difficult to cross and all this time there are many that 'suffers in silence'. "I also call on the crowd to stop attacking and bullying this X50 brother. Let's not do the same thing but online anyway," he wrote.

TikToker arrested for cross-dressing during livestream

MELAKA: A TikTok personality known online as "Melinda B" was arrested while livestreaming early Monday morning for allegedly cross-dressing. In a statement, Melaka Islamic Religious Department (Jaim) director Datuk Md Azhan Sama said enforcement officers moved in around 1.30am following a public complaint and found the man— clad in a purple blouse, women's shoes, earrings and a hair bun wig — still livestreaming on the platform. Azhan said the man, known for cross-dressing content, had been actively hosting live sessions on social media and appearing in public spaces around Melaka city in 2025, drawing public concern for allegedly promoting and normalising lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) culture. He said the arrest was made under Section 72 of the Syariah Offences Enactment (Melaka) 1991, which prohibits men from imitating the appearance or mannerisms of women in public. Upon conviction, offenders face a fine of up to RM1,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both. It is understood the man was later charged in the Syariah Lower Court and pleaded guilty to the offence.
