SBA CEO Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harithi described Hajj as an exceptional national event, during which the state mobilizes all available resources. He stressed that media coverage of Hajj is not only a professional task but also a national honor and duty.
Al-Harithi noted that the SBA's efforts extend beyond domestic broadcasting, reaching international audiences through collaboration with the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and other regional organizations. These partnerships aim to ensure that Hajj coverage reaches Muslim households around the world.
He also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary, whose leadership has been instrumental in enabling the SBA to deliver world-class coverage of this significant event.
SBA Vice President Khaled Al-Ghamdi outlined the technical preparations, including the deployment of more than 14 TV production vehicles, 12 satellite uplink trucks, and nearly 120 cameras across the holy sites. These efforts enabled over 400 hours of live broadcasting across five dedicated Hajj channels.
Al-Ghamdi also highlighted the pre-season training of approximately 50 reporters, reflecting the SBA's ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality and professionalism of its Hajj coverage year after year.

'This is both a profound privilege and a sacred responsibility.' To ensure safety and efficiency, the Kingdom deployed over 250,000 personnel across government, private, and non-profit sectors. Among the innovations introduced this year were digital immigration checks, AI-powered crowd management, and wearable health-monitoring devices. 'We significantly expanded infrastructure – including the largest extension of the Grand Mosque in history – and integrated advanced technologies to improve every stage of the pilgrim's journey,' al-Manakhra said. He added that the 'No Permits, No Hajj' campaign was strictly enforced and promoted across multiple countries and languages. 'Every measure taken had a single purpose: to ease the experience so that pilgrims can focus on their spiritual journey with complete peace of mind.' Innovation meets tradition The ministry's digital transformation strategy took center stage this year. 'Saudi Arabia is thoughtfully blending tradition with innovation to make the pilgrimage safer, more seamless, and deeply meaningful,' al-Manakhra told Al Arabiya English. From drones capable of delivering emergency aid to wearable devices that monitor heat stress symptoms, the 2025 Hajj season featured a wide array of smart solutions. 'Voice-activated translators provide real-time interpretation in over 11 languages, smart bracelets help pilgrims navigate, and robotic guides offer directions and reassurance to anyone feeling overwhelmed or lost,' he said. International collaboration and the 'Makkah Route' The ministry had engaged with 78 countries in the lead-up to this year's Hajj, al-Manakhra emphasized, highlighting the Kingdom's dedication to international collaboration. 'This year alone, we have held over 130 bilateral meetings to ensure alignment with every country whose guests we welcome,' he said. 'Through a multilingual, culturally inclusive framework, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah works hand-in-hand with Hajj missions and international partners to provide seamless, end-to-end support.' He pointed to the continued success of the 'Makkah Route' initiative, which allows pilgrims to complete visa, biometric, and health procedures at designated airports in their home countries. 'Pilgrims are transported directly to their accommodations, and luggage is pre-coded and sorted,' he said, noting the program currently operates in eight countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Morocco. Personalized cares across cultures To meet the diverse needs of pilgrims, services were tailored via the Nusuk digital platform. The ministry 'developed an integrated system for quality control and service oversight, rooted in both technology and field presence,' al-Manakhra explained. 'Real-time oversight was enabled through the Nusuk Card and app, which allowed pilgrims to report issues and receive support via 24/7 Nusuk Care Centers and the Pilgrims' Care Center hotline (1966).' The app supported multiple languages and ensured a consistent quality of care for pilgrims from all backgrounds. Health and heat preparation As this year's Hajj season took place amid rising temperatures in the region, Saudi Arabia bolstered health and safety protocols in partnership with the Ministry of Health and over 40 agencies. 'Health and safety are at the heart of our planning,' al-Manakhra said. 'We have increased shaded walkways – in Mina holy site we now have a total area of 35,000 m² and in Arafat holy site a total area of shaded space of 50,000 m².' Thousands of misting fans, 400 water stations, solar-cooled rest stops, and over 20,000 newly planted trees contributed to the Kingdom's climate resilience strategy. 'Every frontline worker is now trained to respond to heat-related issues, so we are fully prepared to mitigate any health-related challenges,' he said. Year-round pilgrims As the Umrah season officially opened on June 10, Saudi Arabia now turns its focus to welcoming pilgrims year-round. Pakistan vows to continue teamwork, coordination with Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2026
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Hajj mission met a high-level Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah delegation on Monday to discuss the successful completion of this year's pilgrimage, the Pakistani religion ministry said, vowing to continue the same spirit of teamwork and service for Hajj 2026. This year's Hajj pilgrimage took place from June 4 to June 9, drawing millions of worshippers to Islam's holiest sites in Saudi Arabia. Pakistan sent more than 115,000 pilgrims under both government and private schemes. Pakistan's religion ministry said earlier this month that it is finalizing preparations to launch early registration for both private and government Hajj 2026 schemes to streamline the pilgrimage process. The Saudi delegation visited the Pakistan Hajj Mission in Makkah to convey their thanks and congratulations on the successful completion of Hajj 2025, Pakistan's religion ministry said in a statement. The delegation commended the exceptional arrangements and services provided to Pakistani pilgrims, it added. The visiting delegation included Dr. Abdulfattah bin Sulaiman Mashat, the deputy minister of Hajj and Umrah, Eyad bin Ahmed Rahbini, assistant deputy minister for Hajj operations and Dr. Badr Muhammad Al-Solami, the director general of Hajj affairs. 'During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing the same spirit of service, coordination and teamwork for Hajj 2026, with a shared commitment to enhancing facilities for pilgrims,' Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) said. MoRA said Dr. Mashat praised the Pakistan Hajj Mission for its professional capabilities, sincere efforts and the arrangements it had undertaken for pilgrims. He described the initiatives taken for the service of Pakistani pilgrims as 'exemplary and worthy of appreciation.' Pakistan's Director General Hajj Abdul Wahab Soomro appreciated the Saudi delegation's visit. He highlighted the Saudi Hajj ministry's guidance and cooperation in the smooth execution of Hajj operations, the religion ministry said. Soomro presented a commemorative shield to the Saudi delegation as a token of gratitude and goodwill at the end of the meeting, MoRA said. 'The gesture symbolized not only appreciation for their visit but also the hope for continued bilateral cooperation in future Hajj endeavors,' the religion ministry said. Pakistan began its post-Hajj flight operations on June 11 with the arrival of a Pakistan International Airlines flight, PK-732, in Islamabad carrying 307 pilgrims. The flights are expected to conclude by July 10.

Saudi Arabia says GCC citizens, residents can now perform Umrah any time
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that citizens and residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can now perform Umrah at any time of the year. Entry for GCC citizens is permitted through all land and air ports as long as pilgrims apply for permits through the official Nusuk application. As for GCC residents, they are eligible to perform Umrah using multiple types of visas, including Umrah visas available via Nusuk, transit visas issued in partnership with Saudia Airlines and Flynas, and tourist visas that can be obtained through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official portal. Umrah is a non-mandatory Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca that can be done at any time of the year, except during the Hajj period.
