The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has earned two prestigious awards in the categories of news exchange and joint radio and television production. The accolades were presented during the 25th Arab Radio and Television Festival, currently underway in Hammamet, Tunisia. SBA Achieves Media Excellence in 1446 Hajj
The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) delivered extensive and high-quality media coverage during the 1446 Hajj season, showcasing Saudi Arabia's commitment to serving pilgrims. Through a multilingual, multi-platform approach, the SBA successfully communicated the spiritual and logistical significance of Hajj to audiences around the world. Over 850 professionals contributed to the operation, producing more than 800 hours of content across eight television and radio channels. The coverage was powered by 120 professional cameras stationed at key holy sites, supported by 25 satellite and live broadcast vehicles, and two mobile control centers. These resources enabled the production of over 700 news stories, more than 300 in-depth radio and TV reports, and the hosting of over 1,000 guests in live programs. The SBA's programming featured 55 dedicated shows focused on the Hajj experience, offering detailed insights into the rituals, sacred sites, and the services provided by various government and private sector entities. Digitally, the SBA reached new milestones—publishing over 8,900 posts across its platforms and generating more than 400 million views and impressions. With over 1 million interactions, the authority demonstrated its growing global digital influence and audience engagement. SBA Showcases Exceptional Media Coverage of Hajj Season 1446
The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has released a documentary film highlighting its outstanding efforts in covering the Hajj season of 1446 . The film underscores the extensive media operations undertaken to broadcast the Hajj rituals to a global audience and showcase the Kingdom's prominent role in serving pilgrims. The documentary details the scale of the SBA's comprehensive media strategy and its use of cutting-edge technologies to deliver high-quality coverage. It also emphasizes the organization's commitment to portraying the national identity and reinforcing Saudi Arabia's international stature. SBA SBA CEO Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harithi described Hajj as an exceptional national event, during which the state mobilizes all available resources. He stressed that media coverage of Hajj is not only a professional task but also a national honor and duty. Al-Harithi noted that the SBA's efforts extend beyond domestic broadcasting, reaching international audiences through collaboration with the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and other regional organizations. These partnerships aim to ensure that Hajj coverage reaches Muslim households around the world. He also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary, whose leadership has been instrumental in enabling the SBA to deliver world-class coverage of this significant event. SBA Vice President Khaled Al-Ghamdi outlined the technical preparations, including the deployment of more than 14 TV production vehicles, 12 satellite uplink trucks, and nearly 120 cameras across the holy sites. These efforts enabled over 400 hours of live broadcasting across five dedicated Hajj channels. Al-Ghamdi also highlighted the pre-season training of approximately 50 reporters, reflecting the SBA's ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality and professionalism of its Hajj coverage year after year. Al-Qarni earned this prestigious opportunity in recognition of her outstanding achievements in scientific research. She is one of 41 students representing Saudi Arabia in a competition that includes more than 1,700 participants from 70 countries, all vying for top honors at ISEF. Al-Qarni's 2025 project explores carbon capture through cooling an innovative approach aimed at addressing the urgent global challenge of climate change.
