Men deny sex offences at children's centre
Two men have pleaded not guilty to a series of historical sexual offences against children at a former assessment centre. Angus Riddell, 69, from Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Robin Griffiths, 65, from Blaenau Gwent, were charged on 20 June with 45 offences between them. It follows an investigation by Gwent Police into reports of sexual and physical abuse, mainly at the former Coed Glas Assessment Centre, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, between the 1970s and 1990s. They have both been bailed and are due to appear at Cardiff Crown Court on 1 August. Mr Riddell has been charged with 38 offences, including three counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16, and one count of attempting to indecently assault a girl under 16. He has also been charged with 14 counts of indecent assault on a boy under 14 and 20 counts of assault, ill-treat, neglect or abandoning a child or young person to cause unnecessary suffering or injury. Mr Griffiths, who now lives in Bideford, Devon, has been charged with seven counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14 . The charges relate to 16 victims. Appearing at Newport Magistrates' Court on Thursday, the two men confirmed their names, dates of birth and addresses. At the time the centre was the responsibility of the former Gwent County Council and has been closed since 1995. Det Ch Supt Andrew Tuck of Gwent Police previously urged the public to respect the judicial process and avoid online speculation on the case. Two charged with sex offences at children's centre

Two teenagers appear in court charged with murder of ‘loving father'
Two teenage boys have appeared in court charged with the murder of a 'loving father' who was stabbed in south Wales. The boys, aged 16 and 17 – who cannot be named for legal reasons, were remanded into youth detention at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Thursday. They are charged with the murder of married father-of-one Kamran Aman, who died in Barry Road, Barry, just before midnight on Monday. The boys, who are both from Llantwit Major, appeared separately in court. Head magistrate Patricia Blackwell said: 'The charges which you face are so serious that your case must now be sent to crown court. 'You will be remanded to youth detention until your appearance at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday.' Mr Aman's family released a tribute on Wednesday evening, saying they mourned his loss with 'profound sorrow'. 'A devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished son, brother, uncle and loyal friend, Kamran was the heart of his family and loved within his community,' they said. 'Known for his generous spirit and kind heart, Kamran brought warmth and strength to everyone he met. 'His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew him. 'As we grieve this unimaginable loss, we also honour and celebrate the life he lived and the impact he made. 'May his memory be a blessing.' Detective Superintendent Mark O'Shea, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, previously said the force was not looking for anyone else in connection with Mr Aman's death.

Diddy's Son King Combs Celebrates Verdict: ‘Pops Coming Home'
Diddy's son King Combs spoke with the press outside the courthouse after his father was acquitted of three of five charges against him, and he's celebrating the mixed verdict. ABC 7 caught up with him as he celebrated while playing his new song 'Diddy Free' from his recently released EP Never Stop, which is executive produced by Ye (formerly Kanye West), and expressed happiness and gratitude to reporters. 'We love y'all. We love everybody watching. I'm so happy,' Combs said. 'Pops coming home. God bless the whole world.' It's OK, You Can Catch Them on Tour This Summer On Wednesday (July 2), Sean 'Diddy' Combs was convicted on two counts of illegal prostitution and is facing a maximum of 20 years, while being acquitted of more serious sex-trafficking and racketeering charges that could've put him behinds bars for 15 years to life, with the jury deliberating for two days after a trial that lasted seven weeks. Diddy was taken into custody on Sept. 16, 2024 and was denied bail after pleading not guilty to charges that included sex trafficking and racketeering. This whole ordeal started when his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit claiming that the fallen mogul abused her for years. In a statement to Billboard, her lawyer Douglas H. Wigdor commended her courage for coming forward. 'This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023,' he said. 'Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution. By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice.' Diddy and his attorneys will more than likely file an appeal once his sentence is finalized. For now, he's been denied bail and will remain behind bars until his sentencing.
