'Even tears of blood won't bring him back,' says widow of fallen FRU policeman

IPOH: Still reeling from the tragedy that claimed her husband's life, the widow of Sergeant Mohd Roslan Abd Rahim said she is not ready to accept any apology from the lorry company involved in Tuesday's crash.
That was the response of 44-year-old Nur Aini Samiun, following reports that the company's owner had expressed their intention to meet the family and offer a personal apology.
"What are they apologising for? They didn't even care about their driver. How could they not take responsibility for their employee?
"I don't know. I haven't really thought about it. Right now, I have so many other things to worry about, especially my children," she said.
On Tuesday, Mohd Roslan was one of nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) policemen killed after the truck they were travelling in was hit by a lorry laden with rocks at KM15 of Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam in Teluk Intan.
Roslan leaves behind Nur Aini and three children, including a son with Down syndrome, Muhd Raqin Najmi, 13; Muhd Rizqi Nazhan, 9; and Nur Aqeela Rawida, 6.
The family is still grappling with the sudden loss of a man remembered as both a loving husband and a devoted, hands-on father.
"I am getting better. But sometimes the memories come rushing in, and the sadness follows. Still, I have to stay strong for the kids.
"No matter how much I cry, even if I cry tears of blood, he won't come back. That's the reality," she said when met at her home today.
As a full-time homemaker, she said Mohd Roslan, who was 46, had been her rock, raising the children alongside her and managing their finances.
"The children still talk about it. The youngest (Aqeela) asked me, 'Why did the lorry hit Ayah (father) until he died? Who is going to play cooking games with me now?'
"My husband was very close to them. If I was busy, he would step in without hesitation. I took care of everything related to the kids, and he took care of our finances. Now, with him gone, I have to carry it all on my own," she said.
She added that her youngest often cries even in her sleep, while their second child has become quiet.
"When they miss their father, I just hold them close. My husband and I always loved hugging each other and our children. I loved him deeply. He was kind to everyone.
"He cared for his parents right until the end. He even took leave from work to be with them during their final days. And then, not long after, he followed them," she said, adding that Roslan's father died in January this year.
Nur Aini plans to remain in her husband's home, purchased four years ago, so the children can continue their schooling without disruption.
"InshaAllah, I will stay here because the children need to go to school. I don't want their education to suffer. They have exams next month, so I need to stay strong for them.
"I've asked my parents to come stay with us for a while, to help us through this. We're trying to rebuild our strength," she said.
