HEARTS boss Derek McInnes admits he may have to wait until January to land winger Islam Chesnokov.
The Kazakhstan international has penned a pre-contract with the Jambos but isn't scheduled to arrive until his domestic season finishes in September.

Chesnokov's club Tobol don't want to let him go while they're challenging for the title, so the Jambos could be left in limbo.
McInnes wants the 25-year-old in during this window but concedes he might have to look at a plan B if January becomes his arrival date.
He said: 'The recruitment team are due to speak to Islam, he's signed the pre-contract.
'Their season runs on to September so we're not fully in charge of that situation.
'His team are not wanting to lose him at this stage of the season because they are in the business end of theirs.
'I have said to the club I'd like him in as quickly as possible if we can find a solution.
'I had a good chat with Islam last Wednesday.
'We have a plan to deal with it, if we get him great, if we don't we will maybe just look to bring him in in January instead.
'We are trying to be as patient as we can but ideally we'd get him in this window.'
Meanwhile, thousands of Sunderland fans are expected to descend on Edinburgh for Craig Gordon's testimonial next month.
Robbie Neilson Released by Rangers, finding a home at Hearts, and splitting the Old Firm
The newly-promoted Premier League club will face the Jambos on July 26 to honour their former goalkeeper.
Scotland star Gordon, 42, moved to the Black Cats in a record £9million deal back in 2007.
It was the highest fee a British club had ever paid for a goalkeeper and remains to this day the record sale for a Scottish club outwith Rangers and Celtic.
Sunderland have been allocated 3,185 tickets for the Tynecastle clash.

Former Celtic and Scotland hero Leigh Griffiths signs for little-known club in Australian second division at age 34
His new club will be the ninth different team he has played for NEW CLUB Former Celtic and Scotland hero Leigh Griffiths signs for little-known club in Australian second division at age 34 FORMER Celtic star Leigh Griffiths is on the move again. The 34-year-old had spent the last three years playing for semi-professional outfit Mandurah City in Western Australia, stepping into a player-coach role for the 2024 season. Advertisement 2 Leigh Griffiths during his heyday for Celtic Credit: Kenny Ramsay - The Sun Glasgow Griffiths, who scored 123 goals for the Hoops in 261 appearances, also won 22 Scotland caps and hit the net four times for his nation (including two memorable free-kicks against England in 2017). But his career in Scottish football ended on a sour note and he departed for Australia in August 2022. Griffiths was loaned out to Dundee during his final contract year with Celtic but his stint was overshadowed by him kicking a smoke bomb into the crowd during a match. He later joined Falkirk as a free agent but left after only six months, scoring twice in 12 games for the club who were then in the third tier. Advertisement The striker has now signed for Stirling Macedonia Lions of the National Premier Leagues Western Australia (NPL WA) setup. Nicknamed the Macies or the Macedonians, the club is based in Perth, Western Australia and finished fourth in the league last year. That qualified them for the NPL WA Finals and they would go all the way to the Grand Final only to lose to top seeds and league winners Olympic Kingsway. The National Premier Leagues operate on a regional structure below the A-League, the top flight of Australian football. Advertisement Stirling Macedonia released a picture of Griffiths in club kit and he was named on the subs' bench straight away for their match against Perth Soccer Club. A statement from Stirling Macedonia read: "We're delighted to officially welcome Leigh Griffiths to Stirling Macedonia! The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up "A former Celtic FC player and Scotland international, Leigh arrives with a proven attacking pedigree and years of top-level experience. He adds genuine firepower to our front third and brings invaluable leadership to the squad. "Welcome to the Stirling family, Leigh!" Advertisement Keegan Ashley, the club's football operations manager, said: "What a pleasure it is to have someone of Leigh's experience join us at Stirling Macedonia. "He brings genuine quality in the attacking third and will have a big impact not only on the pitch but off it as well—helping guide and mentor our younger players as they develop their game." 2 Griffiths was unveiled by Stirling Macedonia this weekend Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

He did really well to strike at Sandown last time, getting up right near the line to win with a little up his sleeve. He saw out this trip strongly and a 4lb rise looks more than fair. IMPERIAL DATA (2.40 Cartmel, nb) Ran a cracker for most of a stronger race than this here last time. He looked booked for a place at least before just running out of juice inside the final furlong. Coming back in trip here can get his head on front off a fair mark. ME TARZAN (4.40 Ffos Las, treble) Can bring up the hat-trick after smooth wins at Lingfield at Leicester. BEER-IRO 'A shandy or two' – No wild celebrations for England's U21 heroes as boss Carsley reveals they have 3.30am flight home Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) JONATHAN ROWE was England's hero as they sealed back-to-back Under-21s Euros glory. But the Marseille supersub and his team-mates will NOT be partying into the night — as they had to go straight to the AIRPORT. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 England retained their U21 European Championship title with a 3-2 victory over Germany Credit: AFP 2 Super-sub Jonathan Rowe won it for England with an early goal in extra-time Rowe headed home Tyler Morton's cross to seal an extra-time triumph over Germany in front of senior Three Lions chief Thomas Tuchel. Boss Lee Carsley sent on Rowe at the end of normal time — and the former Norwich forward stooped to nod a 92nd-minute winner to emulate England's 2023 success. But as fans watching on at home toasted another thrilling success — the players will be limited to "a shandy or two". That's after Carsley revealed the squad were booked onto a flight back to Birmingham just a few hours after lifting the trophy. "We have a couple of hours and then fly back into Birmingham at 3.30. "It's a quick turnaround. The players will be on holiday tomorrow. Their time is very important to them. But it's important that they have a shandy or two tonight." CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS He added: "I'm really proud of the players. The commitment they've shown for the last 28 days, all the instruction we've tried to put into them so quickly, they've taken it on board and they've got so much belief. "I'm so happy for them. To be European champions for the second time is a great achievement and the challenge now is to do it again in two years. England 3 Germany 2- Young Lions retain Euro U21s crown in THRILLER as supersub Jonathan Rowe wins it in extra-time "Any setback we've had, the players have just got together. I said at the start of the tournament, the longer we can stay in, the better we play. "I didn't think we played great tonight. I thought we probably sat a little bit too deep and didn't have as much control as I would've wanted, but I probably won't remember that in a couple of days." Meanwhile, hero of the hour Rowe, who was subbed on at full-time of normal time, praised the team for rallying together. The striker said: "I was not starting but I knew that at some point all of us on the bench would have to come on and make a difference and help the team to push us over the line. "I'm so happy we managed to do that in front of some important people. The job's finally finished and we can all celebrate."
