A North Carolina shelter dog's return after a day out with volunteers has broken the hearts of viewers on TikTok.
For a few sweet hours the pup, named Woody, was no longer just another overlooked shelter dog. In a video posted to TikTok by @pawprintswithpurpose, the longtime resident of Catawba County Animal Services in Newton, North Carolina was filmed enjoying a rare break from kennel life—including a trip into town that has since drawn thousands of hearts and tears from viewers across the platform.
The video from June 20, which had been viewed over 12,000 times at the time of writing, showed Woody smile in the back seat of a car, share gentle moments with children, and devour a whipped cream-topped pup cup.
Yet, the clip ends on a somber note, with Woody's evident sadness as he returns to the shelter.
The social media post was captioned with a heartfelt plea for adoption. "Woody's been waiting…And waiting…" it read, beneath a broken heart emoji. "He's one of our long term residents at Catawba County Animal Services.
"Behind the kennel door is a good boy full of love, just struggling with the stress of shelter life."
The short video starts with an overlaid text: "Remember Woody? We decided to break him out for the day…"
It goes on to show the dog reacting to the simple joys of a car ride, even as it notes he is "a little unsure" at first. He is later seen enjoying treats and making friends on his walk.
One frame simply read: "Loves everyone."
As the day winded down, the tone of the video shifted. "Woody got sad on the way back," the overlay read: "How has he not found a home?"
TikTok users flooded the comments with reactions ranging from heartbreak to frustration. Several viewers have applauded the video's creators for giving Woody at least one day away from the confines of his kennel.
"Heart chain," one viewer said, while another added: "Please consider adopting this sweet baby!"
The video concludes with a call to action: "Come meet him. One walk could change his life."
As of the last update, Woody remains available for adoption.

Swedish House Mafia teases NYC return with cryptic Times Square billboard
Swedish House Mafia may be plotting a return to the Big Apple — and New Yorkers are already losing it. The iconic electronic dance music trio — Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso — sparked a frenzy Wednesday when the supergroup made a surprise announcement in Times Square: 'New York See You Soon. Swedish House Mafia.' 4 The Times Square billboard flashed during a livestream of the group's three-hour Stockholm set, where they debuted a new track, 'Wait So Long.' Getty Images for Atlantis The Royal Advertisement The message flashed on a billboard during a livestream of their three-hour set in Stockholm, where they debuted a new track, 'Wait So Long.' Just a week earlier, they'd wiped their Instagram clean and posted a shadowy photo of the three of them with the cryptic caption '3.0' — a move that racked up nearly 100,000 likes and marked what fans are calling a new era. A screenshot of the billboard's location — West 50th and Broadway — was then posted to the group's Instagram story, sending fans into a frenzy across TikTok, Reddit and EDM fan pages. 'I beg tell me when, I need to be there,' vowed one user on TikTok. Danielle Tourloukis, 24, a self-described 'huge fan' of Swedish House Mafia who lives in Murray Hill, told the Post that hearing the news gave her 'chills.' 'Can't wait to be dancing to this again,' she wrote in a TikTok from her account @itsdanitour, sharing a video of herself and two friends dancing in the streets of New York to Swedish House Mafia's 'One.' Their last NYC appearance was a surprise April 2024 set at Brooklyn Mirage. Formed in Stockholm in the late 2000s, the group remains one of the most recognizable names in EDM, with smash hits like 'Don't You Worry Child,' 'Save The World' and 'Miami 2 Ibiza.' Courtesy of Debi Kleiman This week's Pet of the Week winner is Camden, a "supermutt" dog obsessed with playing in the water. Camden's owner, Debi Kleiman, will place a splash pad out for him with water shooting out like a fountain all around the perimeter. He'll jump through the water, back-and-forth, again and again, showing nothing but "pure joy." He'll play until it turns off, Kleiman told Newsweek via email. "During this escapade, he played for 20 minutes straight until he busted it," she said. "We were able to repair it." Camden will trade in a chewing toy or stuffed animal for any game that spouts out water, such as hoses, gutters, faucets or sprinklers. But the one in the video is by far his favorite, Kleiman said. "Camden is 100% fun and love, he is always happy," Kleiman said. "...We were so lucky to find him, he always makes us laugh." Monica Terrazas adopted him from the Humane Society in Dania Beach, Florida, after he was dropped on her lap at work during an event that brought in shelter dogs. "As soon as I took a walk outside my office, the HR director placed a puppy in my arms," Terrazas said. "She basically told me that he was adorable and that if I didn't take him home, then she would." She welcomed Shaggy home where he's quickly adjusted with her other dog, a 9-year-old named Kiki. Kiki has been showing Shaggy the ropes of how to be a dog, while also easing his fears and anxieties. With endless training, Shaggy is now a therapy dog and has earned a Canine Good Citizen certification. Photos of the animals a woman in Arizona helps rescue and rehabilitate. Hamilton is stepping into the film world with "F1," officially listed as a producer on the movie and playing a crucial role in its development. "F1" stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris as the two drivers in the movie. Joseph Kosinski - of "Top Gun: Maverick" fame - directed the movie while Apple Original Films produced it. The famous Hans Zimmer produced the film's score. Lewis Hamilton attends the "F1: The Movie" European Premiere at Cineworld Leicester Square on June 23, 2025 in London, England. Photo byIn a video released on X (formerly Twitter), Hamilton spoke about what movies as a form of art have meant to him. "I've always loved film. So much of my life has been inspired by things I've seen in movies," Hamilton said in the social media video. "Whether it's clothing, whether it's just stories that have just been uplifting, that have got me past difficult times. And then this opportunity came up, I jumped at it." The seven-time World Champion also elaborated on the film-making process itself, crediting Apple Films for providing high-tech equipment. "To get it authentic, to get the technology, to get that real live action experience, there's only one company that could make it happen. That wouldn't have been possible without Apple," Hamilton added in the video. "Apple's always stood at the intersection of the liberal arts and technology. It feels wonderful to be a part of getting this out to the world. You've really contributed a lot too. I mean, you can tell from the movie how authentic it is. "To get people to feel what we're feeling like in the car, as close as you can possibly get, we needed that technology, and we needed that camera." "And we got to utilize Apple's amazing team in pushing technology and pushing the boundaries in camera making. And they've created these new cameras." #F1TheMovie is in theaters now. Big thanks to @tim_cook and the @appletv team for helping us get to this moment ~ — Lewis Hamilton (@LewisHamilton) June 27, 2025 Hamilton's role in making the movie was to guide it into a sense of realism. He advocated for Idris and Pitt to get time behind the wheel of race cars at different tracks - hoping to add realistic driving techniques and maneuvers. The production crew shot the movie during several F1 races, and it features cameos from drivers and teams from the 2023 season. The movie runs for a total of two hours and 36 minutes - allegedly costing a total of $200 million to produce the blockbuster. "F1" fetched $10 million during the early screenings and enters its debut weekend at the box office with high expectations because of Apple's huge marketing push.
