Packers announce open training camp practice dates
This will mark Green Bay's 80th training camp, a tradition that began in 1946 under Curly Lambeau. As in the past, practices are scheduled to take place at Ray Nitschke Field, with Packers Family Night at Lambeau Field.
The Packers open training camp Wednesday, July 23, with the first of three consecutive public practices. The Friday practice will be followed by the annual meeting of shareholders at 3 p.m. CT.
After a day off on Saturday, Green Bay will hold the first of four public practices in five days on Sunday (July 27-28 and 30-31).
The Packers will host Family Night at Lambeau Field on Saturday, Aug. 2, and follow with three consecutive public practices (Aug. 5-7) before taking on the Jets at home on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. CT.
Green Bay will hold a public practice on Tuesday, Aug. 12, before going to Indianapolis, where it will have a joint practice (Aug. 14) before facing the Colts on Saturday, Aug. 16, at noon CT.
The Packers finish off the open sessions of training camp with an open practice on Aug. 19 and then an open joint practice against Seattle (Aug. 21) before facing the Seahawks at Lambeau Field on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. CT.
All public training camp practices at Ray Nitschke Field are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. CT (times are subject to change). Should inclement weather or any other factor force the team indoors, practices will be closed to the public due to space limitations inside the Don Hutson Center.

Jets' Justin Fields participates in QB drills, despite toe injury
New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields participated in individual quarterback drills at training camp on Saturday morning, despite a dislocated toe on his right foot. The drills included rollouts and some throwing. Team drills remain off limits for now for Fields, who is considered day-to-day. Fields sustained the injury Thursday in camp in Florham Park, N.J., and was carted off the field. Tests showed the injury to be relatively minor compared to initial fears of a more serious issue. The Jets also have veteran backup Tyrod Taylor on the roster. Adrian Martinez, the 2024 United Football League MVP, and rookie Brady Cook also are in the quarterback room. A 2021 first-round pick of the Chicago Bears, Fields signed a two-year, $40 million contract in March, and the Jets are counting on him to replace Aaron Rodgers. Fields is 14-30 as a starter and has passed for 7,780 yards with 45 touchdowns and 31 interceptions in 50 games with the Bears (2021-23) and Pittsburgh Steelers 2024). Former Ohio State quarterback returns to Jets practice after injury scare
Earlier this week, former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields was carted off the field at Jets practice with an apparent foot injury. It was concerning, especially since the Jets have gone all-in on Fields as the starter this year. It was especially concerning for Fields because it might be his last chance to become a franchise quarterback in the NFL after some mixed results in Chicago and Pittsburgh. However, there is some good news on that front because Fields returned to practice just a day later on Friday. The official injury update is that it was just a dislocated toe -- which would be a big deal for you or me, but not so much for the prognosis of Fields continuing to get reps and eventually being in a position to start on opening day. Fields did not participate 100% in practice on Friday, but did throw some balls on the side, and is simply day-to-day on his return in the capacity needed. There are a lot of people rooting for Fields to be a difference-maker for the Jets, including many Ohio State fans. The talent is there; it's just always seemed like the right fit for Fields to show what he can do. Many Jets fans are also bullish on what the former Heisman finalist can do in the Big Apple, so the fact that the injury isn't serious is a very good thing for all rooting interests. Jets' Joe Tippmann making most of competition on offensive line
New York Jets center Joe Tippmann was among the bright spots in a dark 2024 season. The then-sophomore blocker made a successful full-time transition from guard. Since moving to center, Tippmann's 70.6 overall Pro Football Focus grade ranks 14th among centers who have played at least 500 snaps. Tippmann's improved play is why it was surprising when the Jets signed veteran center Josh Myers to a one-year deal worth $3.5 million earlier this offseason. The experienced Myers started 56 total contests for the Green Bay Packers over the previous four campaigns. His arrival incited a competition at center between Tippmann and himself. Tippmann is making the most of the situation, he recently told The New York Post at training camp. 'At first, I mean, it took me by surprise a little bit,' Tippmann said after Wednesday's first day of training camp in Florham Park. 'But Coach [Aaron Glenn] actually called me first, and he kind of let me know the situation beforehand. So after that, I was just excited.' Tippmann started all 17 contests for the Jets last season, playing every single offensive snap. Coach Glenn provided clarity, repeatedly reiterating that there is an open competition 'at every position." It lit a fire under Tippmann, who didn't expect to be competing for a starting gig. "It was certainly made clear that it's a competition," Myers said at the podium, reiterating that he's been told he'll receive every opportunity imaginable this summer to compete for a starting job. It'll be worth monitoring how the Jets split first-team reps between Tippmann and Myers throughout training camp. It would be shocking if Myers actually defeated Tippmann for the starting job. Instead, the Jets should have terrific depth behind their young, ascending center this year.
