Michigan football bolsters 2027 class with 3-star Texas OL Tristan Dare over top programs

Michigan football is still waiting on some hopeful good news on the 2026 recruiting class front, but it's now starting to build a foundation in the 2027 class -- and where else, but along the offensive line. The Wolverines already have one commitment in 2027 in Saline (Mich.) three-star offensive lineman Louis Esposito (son of defensive line coach Lou Esposito). But on Monday, the maize and blue added another OL to bolster the class. Hailing from Southlake (Tx.) Carroll, Tristan Dare is a three-star that has an offer sheet that reads more like a high-four-star prospect. He committed to the Wolverines on Monday over Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, and others. Dare is expected to be an interior player along the offensive line and is listed at 6-foot-4, 290 pounds as he prepares to enter his junior year of high school. He is ranked at No. 496 overall, regardless of position, according to the 247Sports Composite. With two commitments in the fold, Michigan is now ranked No. 19 in the 247Sports team rankings for the 2027 recruiting cycle -- which hasn't really gotten underway just yet.

Kalen DeBoer provides injury update on Alabama freshman wide receiver

Following the program's fall camp practice Sunday, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update on an injured freshman wide receiver. That wideout is true freshman Lotzeir Brooks, who has reportedly been spotted in a walking boot, but is an injury that should not affect the receiver for very long, according to DeBoer on Sunday. 'It won't be anything long-term or anything like that,' DeBoer said. 'So, just be a little bit of recovery here. I don't know if it's day-to-day, but it's not going to be something that's extended.' A member of Alabama's 2025 recruiting class, Brooks comes to Tuscaloosa after a memorable high school career while playing at Millville High School in New Jersey. Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Brooks was considered as a four-star prospect, as well as the No. 185 overall player in the class. Brooks also ranked as the No. 25 overall wide receiver nationally. A potential instant-impact member of Alabama's freshman class, Brooks will be a player to monitor over the coming weeks leading up to the Crimson Tide's season-opener at Florida State. Jon Gruden impressed with Georgia football, delivers fiery speech

Jon Gruden, the Super Bowl-winning former head coach and current college football and NFL analyst, delivered a powerful and inspiring speech to the Georgia Bulldogs team, motivating them for their upcoming season. Gruden also visited a Georgia Bulldogs practice while he was in town. He subsequently delivered a passionate and inspiring speech to the team. His intensity and passion is similar to that of Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart, who has frequently emphasized the phrase "passion, fire, and energy" throughout the offseason. The 2025 Georgia team is on the younger side with over 50% of them being in their first or second year in the program. "I feel it every day (passion, fire and energy), because if you don't have it, it's hard to be successful," said Smart ahead of fall camp. "You can't keep up. Our staff has it. Our staff has great juice. We've had a chance to reenergize." Georgia's coaching staff has energy, but many of the younger Bulldogs are still adjusting to the pace of practice at Georgia. However, Kirby Smart likes the accountability his team has shown so far. "They do push and challenge each other," Smart said. "That's what I've enjoyed about this team so far, they're not afraid to hold each other accountable and get after each other. They know that they're stronger together than they are apart." The saying will be crucial for the Bulldogs as they face what's shaping up to be one of college football's most demanding schedules in 2025. Georgia is set to host powerhouses like Alabama and Texas, along with Ole Miss, and other formidable opponents in Athens. Last season ended with a sour note and everyone wants this season to be better in all phases of the game. Jon Gruden's speech at UGA "What I saw today was phenomenal," said Gruden. "The tempo, the attitude, I mean, the moving from drill to drill. You guys showcased your effort, but you've got to string days together."
