Actor Mumtaz says Shammi Kapoor's wife doesn't like her talking about him

India Today3 days ago
Veteran actor Mumtaz once again spoke about Shammi Kapoor. However, this time, she refrained from talking about their relationship, citing the late actor's wife, Neila Devi'. The actor said her comments about Kapoor have not been well-received by his wife.In a recent conversation with The Times of India, Mumtaz shared her reasons for staying quiet on the subject. 'Everybody keeps asking me the same old things. My sister received a few calls, people told her, 'Mumtaz shouldn't answer those questions.' But how many times can I say 'no comments'? My sister told me, 'You are hurting industry people.' I don't want to hurt anyone; they are my family,' she said.advertisementThe actor went on to add that the children of the people she has spoken about also feel uncomfortable. 'I don't regret speaking the truth, but it does get monotonous. Everyone only wants to ask about Rajesh Khanna and Shammi Kapoor. It's so repetitive. His (Shammi's) wife feels bad, asking, 'Why is she talking about my husband?' So, I've decided not to hurt anyone,' she said.
Kapoor lost his first wife, Geeta Bali, in 1965. He later met a teenage Mumtaz on the sets of 'Brahmachari', and the two grew close. However, their relationship did not progress to marriage. According to her, Kapoor had asked her to leave the film industry - something she wasn't ready to do at the time.'He wanted me to give up my career when I was just 17. I don't think anyone can love me the way he did. I've never forgotten him. Even today, when someone mentions his name, tears come to my eyes. It wasn't just a love affair; it was much more. We loved each other deeply. But back then, women in the Kapoor family didn't work. He had to honour his family's wishes, and I had to honour my career,' she was quoted as saying by Rediff.Shammi Kapoor married Neila Devi in 1969. The legendary actor died in 2011. Mumtaz's reflections offer a glimpse into a love that was powerful yet bound by circumstance, one she now chooses to remember in silence, out of respect.- EndsMust Watch

‘And you want to build a Disneyland?': Jet Airways' former CEO reacts to filthy, garbage-filled Gurugram streets

Former Jet Airways CEO Sanjiv Kapoor is grabbing attention after he reacted to photos showing garbage-strewn roads in Gurugram's Sector 44. Slamming the civic authorities, Kapoor criticised the idea of building a Disneyland attraction in Haryana, 'ludicrous.' The viral photos he posted showed cows standing and sitting amid piles of garbage along the roadside, with a Google Maps screenshot marking the exact location of the scene. 'Months later, worse than ever before. Shame on you, @MunCorpGurugram @DC_Gurugram @cmohry — no respect for the land, for tax-paying citizens, and not even for the cows! And you want to build a Disneyland in Haryana? Ludicrous!' Kapoor wrote on X. He also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging intervention through the Swachh Bharat Mission. '@narendramodi ji, please do something! #SwachhBharat,' he added. In a follow-up post, Kapoor criticised how local authorities handle citizen complaints. He questioned whether officials were 'driving around blindfolded,' since the problems are persistent. 'And the babus have the gall to say we are building an app, send us photos and locations of the garbage through that. Do they drive around blindfolded or what? Though I am sure the launch of the app will be tom-tommed and then they will consider the job done!' he wrote. 'Cows on roads has become international shame. Foreigners come and click photos as they have never seen cows sitting or walking on roads in any of the developed nation. But it can only happen in India as we are 4th largest ecomony in the world,' a user wrote. 'Appreciate the post Sir. Sadly, nothing will happen. This is how the entire city looks. All those green belts have been turned into dump yards! Moved to Gurgaon a few months back and am already regretting it,' another user commented.

Tara Sutaria Feels It's 'Difficult And Lonely' To Navigate The Industry As An Outsider

Tara Sutaria says navigating Bollywood as an outsider is lonely and tough. She wishes she had guidance and support early in her career. Tara Sutaria is one of the most loved actresses of Bollywood. She made her big Bollywood debut with Dharma Productions' Student of the Year 2, co-starring Ananya Panday and Tiger Shroff. As she completed over five years in the industry, the actress opened up about how, as an outsider, it is difficult to navigate the business, calling it a 'lonely task." In an interview with The Times of India, Tara looked back at her journey and shared, 'It took many years to get used to a lot of things and to understand how the industry functions and works… It has also been a very difficult and lonely task to manoeuvre and navigate so many things because when you're not from the inside, you don't have anybody to really discuss things with or seek advice from." 'There have been so many instances in my career where I wish I could have had guidance. I wish I could have had people from inside the industry help me out," Tara further added. She also feels that when someone from inside the industry joins the business, they already have a lot of knowledge about how it functions. Tara Sutaria was recently in the headlines during the wedding of her ex-boyfriend and best friend, Aadar Jain, and Alekha Advani. She again made news after rumours of her dating actor Veer Pahariya surfaced. It was reported that the rumoured couple recently went on a dreamy vacation to Italy. Veer, who belongs to a prominent political family and is the grandson of former Maharashtra CM Sushilkumar Shinde, was previously rumoured to be dating Sara Ali Khan. He later made headlines for his frequent public appearances with Manushi Chhillar. Tara, on the other hand, was in a relationship with Aadar Jain, cousin to Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The two parted ways, and Aadar later married Tara's friend Alekha Advani in February 2025. Tara was briefly linked to actor Arunoday Singh post-breakup, but she dismissed the rumours, calling him 'just a friend." Whether or not Tara and Veer are Bollywood's newest couple, their Italian holiday has certainly caught everyone's attention. First Published:
