Unique train to visit Glasgow Central Station with interactive exhibition
The exhibition train, named Inspiration, is part of a national celebration marking 200 years of the modern railway, aptly called Railway 200.
It is set to visit 60 locations, with Glasgow Central Station being the 16th stop on its busy schedule.
Tickets to explore the train for free can be booked online from now until August 17 at railway200.co.uk/inspiration/.
Inspiration is the sole exhibition train on the rail network, curated in partnership with the National Railway Museum.
The four-carriage train is designed to offer an engaging journey through rail's history, highlighting landmark moments in rails development, pioneering engineering feats and future roles in the railway industry.
Train carriages are currently being fitted out, supported by a £250k grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The exhibition is also set to feature a 'Wonderlab on Wheels' which will allow visitors to test their own engineering skills through hands-on exhibits.

Emma Roberts, Railway 200's programme manager, said: "This special exhibition train is set to become a new, national visitor attraction, providing an unforgettable experience for hundreds of thousands of people across Britain, including many schoolchildren.
"It will excite, enlighten, entertain, and inspire them to take a fresh look at the railway, as part of its anniversary celebrations."
The interactive exhibition is expected to attract more than 200,000 visitors, including schoolchildren, by prior booking.
Alan Ross, engineering and asset management director at Network Rail Scotland, added: "The railway has been a vital lifeline for two centuries, connecting places and people to deliver critical services and boost economic growth.
"It's also a symbol of transport innovation, continually evolving to meet the needs of modern life.
"The exhibition train honours this incredible achievement while looking forward to the exciting journey ahead.
"I encourage everyone to visit the train at your nearest stop this October to celebrate its rich history, recognise its connections to your own community, and get an exclusive glimpse of the future of rail travel."
Booked visits start at 10am, with the last entry at 4pm.
The train will close at 5pm, and visits are expected to last up to an hour.

For those unable to visit in person, a virtual tour of the exhibition experience is planned.
No passengers will be carried on the train as it travels to its exhibition sites.

Sarina Wiegman savours Lionesses' ‘very special' Downing Street reception after Euro 2025 title
Sarina Wiegman says she 'felt love all over' as the England women's football team attended a reception at Downing Street following their European Championship success. England defeated Spain in Sunday's final and upon returning to the UK on Monday, the Lionesses travelled from Southend Airport to attend a reception in Downing Street, London, hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland for talks with US President Donald Trump. 'Downing Street, you don't come there normally and it was really nice how they built it up like this,' Wiegman said, pointing in the direction of the England flags and bunting surrounding the buildings of No 10 Downing Street, the traditional residence of the serving British Prime Minister. 'It is very special to be able to go inside and also in the garden. The people there were very nice, they also put up some pictures of what we have done at the Euros. 'It was lovely, a very warm welcome. I've felt love all over but today even more so.' Wiegman has now won three successive European Championship titles as head coach — one with the Netherlands and two with England, who had never previously won a major international title. The 55-year-old Dutch coach was questioned on speculation linking her to an honorary damehood — a traditionally British honorific title given to women who have been admitted to certain orders of chivalry. 'I haven't thought about that,' Wiegman said. 'I feel so much respect from England, the Royal Family too. I think the most important thing is feeling valued. It's very special to get so much respect from England.' Manchester Airport opens redeveloped Terminal 2 with new shops and restaurants
Manchester Airport opened its redeveloped Terminal 2 departure lounge today (July 28). The opening saw six new shops and restaurants added to the terminal, including LEGO, Rituals and Pandora, which opened their first units at the airport. If you're looking to enjoy a bite to eat or drinks before your flight, you can also visit Starbucks, Upper Crust and Joe & The Juice. Manchester Airport opens redeveloped Terminal 2 departure lounge The opening marks the latest milestone in the 10-year, £1.3bn transformation of Terminal 2, which will more than double the terminal's size. An extension to the terminal opened in 2021, and the airport is now in the final stages of overhauling the original Terminal 2 building to bring it up to the same standard as the extension. More than 70% of the airport's passengers will use the new facilities, and Terminal 1 is set to close when the project is completed later this year. Chanel, cocktail bar and more still to open at Manchester Airport Further shops and restaurants are expected to open later this year, including Chanel, Grindsmith by WH Smith, a Fever Tree cocktail and champagne bar, and the Great Northern Market – a food court with a selection of street food options.
