6 reported dead due to Crising, Habagat —NDRRMC
Six people were reported due to Tropical Cyclone Crising, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, and the low pressure area (LPA), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.
In its report as of 6 a.m., the NDRRMC said three of the reported deaths were in Northern Mindanao and one each in Mimaropa, Davao Region, and Caraga.
Only two of the six reported fatalities have been confirmed so far, according to the NDRRMC.
In Barangay Poblacion in Mambajao, Camiguin, the victim was hit by a falling tree on July 19. She was brought to a hospital but she was declared dead due to trauma secondary to external injury.
In Barangay Matin-ao in Mainit, Surigao del Norte, another victim was riding his motorcycle from a friend's house when a tree also collapsed and hit him.
The NDRRMC said five people were reported injured and six were reported missing amid the bad weather.
Impact
A total of 1,266,322 persons or 362,465 families were affected by Crising, Habagat, and the LPA in all regions in the country except for Eastern Visayas.
Floods, landslides, collapsed structures, and tornadoes were reported in the affected areas.
Of the affected population, 17,116 people or 4,991 families were staying in evacuation centers while 65,219 people or 14,524 families were taking shelter in other places.
A total of 1,501 houses were damaged—348 totally and 1,153 partially.
Damage to infrastructure worth P413,020,214 and to agriculture worth P54,067,336 were reported, according to the NDRRMC.
A state of calamity was declared in Umingan, Pangasinan.
Assistance worth P61,310,374 has been provided to the victims so far, the NDRRMC said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News

GSIS to gov't agencies: Report assets damaged by storms
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) on Monday asked all government agencies with insured assets and properties to immediately report any damage caused by tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong. In a statement, the pension fund and state assets urged agencies to prepare their policy details and reach out to the nearest GSIS branch or extension office with the full list of contact details found on its website. GSIS said it provides coverage for all government-owned assets, including buildings, vehicles, equipment, and other properties. The pension fund said it offers a range of non-life insurance products for institutions, such as fire, motor vehicle, engineering, and accident insurance, as well as optional protection plans for individual members, pensioners, and their families. GSIS added it also issues compulsory third-party liability (CTPL) insurance and covers government-linked projects or ventures where public funds or interests are involved. 'We are ready to help agencies recover and get back on track. Your safety and protection remain our priority,' said GSIS officer-in-charge Juliet Bautista. —VBL, GMA Integrated News

Valenzuela City declares state of calamity due to inclement weather

Courtesy: Philippine Coast Guard/ Facebook The local government of Valenzuela City has declared a state of calamity due to the widespread flooding and infrastructure damage caused by tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, Emong, and the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat). The Sangguniang Panlungsod approved Resolution No. 3503 series of 2025, adopting the recommendation of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC) to declare a state of calamity and to release funds by way of assistance to the typhoon victims. 'Valenzuela City was severely affected by Tropical Storm Crising, Dante and Emong, which, in combination with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), brought prolonged and intense rainfall, causing widespread flooding, paralyzing public transportation and utility services, and resulting in the displacement of thousands of families,' the resolution reads. 'The continuous adverse weather conditions have resulted in extensive damage to public infrastructure, residential areas and agricultural lands, endangering the safety and livelihood of residents,' it said. The resolution added, 'The declaration of a state of calamity is necessary to enable the City Government of Valenzuela to access additional resources and funding for disaster response and recovery efforts.' According to the city government, over 9,000 individuals were rescued and evacuated to temporary shelters due to the inclement weather. Relief operations and health services continue in the temporary shelters, while post-flood assessments are being conducted in the city as part of their recovery and rehabilitation efforts. Meanwhile, a free ride service was also launched in Valenzuela City to help affected passengers. The Valenzuela City government also remains under heightened alert amid the continuous downpour. State weather bureau PAGASA earlier said the Habagat will continue to bring rains over parts of the country on Monday. Occasional rains may persist over Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan while cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms is forecast over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.
