Sébastien Vaniček's ‘Evil Dead Burn' Sequel Sets July 2026 Release
Yacoub, who portrayed Fremen warrior Shishakli in Denis Villeneuve's Dune sequel, has carved a place for herself in genre cinema with a blend of grit and presence. With her character not expected to return in Dune: Messiah , Evil Dead Burn offers a new showcase for her talents. Vaniček, best known for directing the 2023 French horror film Infested , was first linked to the Evil Dead franchise in early 2024. Long before the official announcement, he hinted that his film would be titled Evil Dead Burn . That cryptic tease has now been confirmed, adding a fiery edge to a franchise better known for blood than flame. Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi will return to produce. Bruce Campbell, Romel Adam, Jose Canas, and Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin are also attached as executive producers.
While Evil Dead has never been a blockbuster juggernaut, it has enjoyed a rare kind of longevity. Beginning with Sam Raimi's 1981 cult classic, the franchise has grown to include sequels, a reboot, a spin-off TV show, and an army of fans who know their Necronomicon lore by heart. Most entries were modest box office performers until Evil Dead Rise defied expectations in 2023 with a US$147 million global haul. That film, a standalone chapter with no Ash Williams in sight, proved there's still plenty of life (and death) in this franchise.
Riding the momentum of Evil Dead Rise , Warner Bros. and New Line have doubled down. Evil Dead Burn is just one of multiple projects in development. Another instalment, helmed by The Last Stop in Yuma County director Francis Galluppi, is also moving forward, though details remain tightly guarded. For now, Evil Dead Burn takes center stage. Whether it ends up in a cabin, a city, or someplace entirely new, one thing's certain: Deadites are coming back, and they're not coming quietly.

KLab and Garena have announced that Haikyu!! Fly High , a new mobile game based on Haruichi Furudate's popular manga, will launch globally on 31 July 2025 in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. The game, developed by Changyou and Prophet Games, will feature both English and Japanese voiceovers performed by the original anime cast. In Haikyu!! Fly High , players will be able to recruit and train iconic characters from the anime, build custom teams, and engage in strategic volleyball matches. LEGO Rolls Out G1 Transformers Soundwave Set In Aug
LEGO is steadily assembling its Transformers roster, adding the first Decepticon to its line-up with a G1 Transformers Soundwave set due out on 4 August, which can not only transform into a cassette player, but also comes with the character's miniature transformable companions, Ravage and Laserbeak. Marking the third Transformers build of its kind, following 2022's LEGO Optimus Prime and last year's LEGO Bumblebee, the LEGO Soundwave (set 10358) marks multiple firsts for the brand, as not only is it the first Decepticon set, it is also the first to feature companions, and the first to include voice playback, with an included 'play' button on the model's chest that recites Soundwave's iconic lines when pressed. Much like the previous two builds, the set will be targeted at adult collectors, comprising 1,505 pieces and measuring 13 inches (33cm) tall in robot mode, making it almost the same height as the LEGO Optimus Prime build. The main Soundwave figure, alongside the two companions, will all be transformable into their respective cassette player and cassette tape modes without needing to be disassembled and rebuilt. The build will also feature additional accessories like cassettes, a rocket pod, alongside a laser blaster and a dart. The aforementioned sound brick piece also recites five different catchphrases and sound effects when activated, including Soundwave's iconic lines like 'Soundwave superior' and 'Danger, Autobots detected'. As a package, the LEGO Soundwave set presents perhaps the most comprehensive package in the line-up to date, as buyers are essentially getting three Transformers figures in one. The look of the build is also bound to delight fans of the now-retro G1 robot designs, offering an almost one-to-one replica of how the character appeared in 1986's The Transformers: The Movie . The build will also feature knee articulation this time around, a feature sorely missing in the previous two sets, enabling collectors to display the figure in more dynamic poses. 'Ne Zha 2': Michelle Yeoh Leads Voice Cast For A24's English-Language Release
A theatrical collision between the West and East is on the way, as indie film distributor A24 and CMC Pictures have announced a team-up on an English-language version of Ne Zha 2 , the animated box office darling from China. Opening in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on 22 August, the newly dubbed release is set to feature Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh in a lead voice role, though her exact character portrayal remains under wraps. 'I'm honoured to be part of Ne Zha 2 , a landmark in Chinese animation and a powerful reminder of how universal our stories can be,' said the Everything Everywhere All At Once star in a statement. 'Sharing this with audiences in English is such a joy, and I can't wait for everyone to experience the wonder, heart, spectacular artistry and magic of this film on the big screen.' The pic marks a rare collaboration between the two companies, and will be presented in IMAX, 3D, and other premium large formats. Written and helmed by returning director Yang Yu under the pseudonym of Jiaozi, it serves as the sequel to a modern reimagining of the mythological Chinese folk hero, who grows up to become the saviour of humanity from his roots as a rebellious demigod born to human parents and feared by the gods.
