Shrine Board organises excursion tour to Amritsar for frontline cleanliness warriors
Anshul Garg, chief executive officer, SMVDSB, lauded the dedication and hard work of the Swachhta Sahayaks while acknowledging their critical contribution to ensuring a clean and hygienic environment in the Shrine area for the visiting devotees. He exhorted that through this journey, the participants will not only enjoy a change of scenery and pace but also gain a deeper appreciation for India's legacy of sacrifice, spirituality and resilience.
The initiative is in pursuance to directions of LG Manoj Sinha to regularly promote staff welfare and motivation through meaningful engagements. By offering this experiential tour, the board intends to boost morale among the Swachhta Sahayaks, encourage team bonding and foster a sense of pride and belonging in the noble service they provide, he added.
The first batch, comprising around 19 Swachhta Sahayaks alongwith their families was flagged off on Monday from Katra by Satish Sharma, Jt chief executive officer, SMVDSB alongwith other Shrine officers / officials. Jt CEO added that this thoughtfully planned excursion tour is aimed at providing Swachhta Sahayaks a much-deserved break and an opportunity to explore the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of one of India's most revered cities. The group will visit prominent places such as the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh memorial and the other key landmarks. He informed that meticulous arrangements have been made for comfortable transportation, accommodation and meals through their respective supervisors, ensuring a memorable experience for the participants.

Amarnath Yatra: Fresh batch of over 6000 pilgrims leaves from Jammu base camp
Jammu, July 15 (UNI) Amid rains, a fresh batch of more than 6000 pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Yatra amid the chants of 'Bam Bam Bhole' this morning left for the holy cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas here from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas. Officials said that the pilgrims left from the Jammu base camp in a fleet of 248 vehicles. 'A fresh batch of 6388 pilgrims this morning left for Shri Amarnath Yatra cave shrine in Kashmir from Jammu base camp amid tight security arrangements,' they added. They said that 3887 pilgrims left for Pahalgam and 2501 for Baltal in a fleet of 248 vehicles comprising Light Motor Vehicles and Heavy Motor Vehicles. The yatra has already crossed the two lakh mark. The 38-day annual pilgrimage started from both routes on July 2 with the flagging off of the first batch from here by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The yatra will end on August 9. So far, around 2 lakh pilgrims have visited the shrine. UNI VBH ARN

Tempo Traveller Rolls Down Gorge In Jammu And Kashmir's Doda, Many Feared Dead
Last Updated: A tempo traveller carrying multiple passengers plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda. Several are feared dead and at least 10 people have been injured. The vehicle was reportedly travelling through a hilly stretch when the driver lost control, causing it to veer off the road and roll down the steep slope. Those injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, and efforts are underway to retrieve others feared trapped in the wreckage. Last week, five people were killed and another was critically injured when a private passenger vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a 600-feet gorge in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. The SUV met with the accident near Senabathi in the Ukhral Pogal Paristan area late on July 11.
