‘Super Robot Wars Y' Gets Ready For Its August Release
'Super Robot Wars Y' is released at the end of August.
With the August release of Super Robot Wars Y looming, we've been graced with another trailer that shows off what the game has to offer.
The full roster of series was revealed a while back, but it's still nice to see more gameplay footage, especially from the 'nemesis' viewpoint (shown below).
However, the real meat of this trailer covers the game's new systems, such as the ability upgrades, shop, and other series staples.
The interesting thing, though, is that we finally get an auto-save setup and, more weirdly, an 'auto mode'.
The latter allows the game to effectively play itself, which is…odd.
After all, the whole point of these games is that they are turn-based tactical role-playing games. You have a grid filled with enemies, and your plucky heroes have to take them out,
This new auto mode means that all of the tactical planning and strategy is taken away from you, which is basically the core of what the game is.
I get the desire for quality of life improvements in game series like this, but this feels a step too far. The good news is that it is an optional mode, which is a relief.

Apart from that, the trailer breaks down the various bonuses and DLC packs you'll get from pre-ordering the game. The Japanese trailer also covers the Robot Damashii toy tie-in, which is absent from the English trailer.
To be honest, I am still in shock that a mainline Super Robot Wars game is being released in a proper global way. In the meantime, feel free to check out my reviews for Super Robot Wars V, X, T, and 30.
Super Robot Wars Y will be released on August 28 for the PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC, via Steam.

‘Gundam' Comes To ‘Call Of Duty: Mobile' And Actually Looks Good
'Call of Duty: Mobile' will feature Gundams in an upcoming season. Following the weird Gundam cosplay setup in the regular Call of Duty, the Mobile version has seemingly gotten it right in a new update. In that, instead of trying to turn people into mecha, they have just put the mecha in the game as is. The list of mobile suits is as follows: Freedom Gundam, Deathscythe Gundam (Endless Waltz), and both the Nu Gundam and the Sazabi. While the trailer (shown below) and official site call the Sazabi a 'Gundam', that seems to be more of a banana peel slip-up, and as irritating as it may be, it is a minor issue. Especially when the good news is that the modeling for each of the mobile suits looks great and is properly Chinese with it. Just like the Metal Build toys, which I am entirely onboard with. This is because Call of Duty: Mobile is developed by TiMi Studio Group, which is a subsidiary of Tencent and is subsequently based in China. As with all Call of Duty: Mobile updates, you also get some special guns for each of the mobile suits included, and those designs also look great. In any case, I am just glad someone is doing a Gundam gaming collaboration properly and actually showing respect to the original designs. SPS Survey on Theaters and Concert Halls in Japan Shows Growing Interest among Foreign Visitors in Japanese Performances
TOKYO, June 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Suntory Publicity Service Ltd. (hereinafter 'SPS'), which operates and provides consulting services for cultural and corporate facilities, has announced the results of its survey on the usage of Japanese theaters and concert halls by foreign visitors to Japan. Survey overview: The survey covered 750 people from South Korea, China, Taiwan, the United States and the United Kingdom who had visited Japan over the past three years. To ensure the accuracy of the data, weighted sampling was conducted based on the 2024 statistics of foreign visitors to Japan, as provided by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO). The survey results revealed that among foreign visitors who enjoyed performances in Japan, 81.2% had planned to do so before arriving in the country. This indicates that cultural facilities, such as theaters and concert halls, are not merely part of an itinerary but a major reason for motivating people abroad to visit Japan. Furthermore, when asked about the types of performances they attended, 'musicals' emerged as the most popular genre overall. However, preferences varied by country: Chinese visitors favored 'opera,' Taiwanese tourists preferred 'kabuki,' and travelers from the United States showed a strong interest in 'pop music.' This highlights the diverse cultural expectations among foreign visitors to Japan. When it comes to finding information about performances in Japan, YouTube and other streaming services were the most common sources for visitors from Taiwan and South Korea. In contrast, search engines were the preferred method for tourists from the United States and the United Kingdom. Social networking services and word-of-mouth recommendations were particularly influential among travelers from China. Moreover, asked what should be done to attract more foreign visitors to Japanese theaters and concert halls, many respondents, especially from English-speaking countries, pointed out the need to simplify ticket-purchasing procedures. SPS has been conducting these surveys regularly since 2020 to assess the needs of visitors and to contribute to the development of more accessible cultural facilities. SPS will continue to leverage its operational experiences and expertise to help enhance the experiential value of cultural facilities.
