IPOH: The Education Ministry is investigating claims that a Pakistani national officiated a school sports event in the Kerian district, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
"We are looking into the matter," she told reporters briefly after attending the Perak-level Maal Hijrah 1447H celebration, which the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, officiated here on Thursday night.
A video recently circulated on social media showed the man being given the honour of launching the athletics meet in Simpang Empat Semanggol.
Meanwhile, Fadhlina expressed her gratitude to Sultan Nazrin for posthumously conferring the Saidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Award on her late mother, Datin Dr Siti Zalikhah Md Nor.
"She was a lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a defender of syariah law. Empowering women in all aspects was her life's work and area of expertise.
"On behalf of my family, I would like to thank His Royal Highness and the state government for this meaningful recognition," she said.
Earlier, Sultan Nazrin presented the award to Fadhlina, who accepted it on her late mother's behalf.— BERNAMA

Comprehensive Strategy Needed To Attract Younger Generation To Join UMNO
BUTTERWORTH, June 29 (Bernama) -- A comprehensive strategy is needed to ensure UMNO remains relevant to young voters under 40, who will constitute the majority group in the upcoming General Election, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah. He said the initiative to engage with this group should not be the sole responsibility of UMNO Youth but instead, should be a collective effort involving the entire party machinery. 'This is a large group. They are critical thinkers and educated. If we don't craft the right strategy to engage them, we will continue to lose support.

Mohamad: BN to go into Sabah polls as a solid team
Mohamad Hasan speaking after officiating the UMNO Ledang Division Delegates' Meeting. – Bernama photo TANGKAK (June 29): Barisan Nasional (BN) will contest the Sabah state election as a solid team, said its Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. Mohamad, who is also Umno Deputy President, said the coalition is currently exploring cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) as well as understandings with local parties in Sabah in preparation for the upcoming state polls. 'We are exploring cooperation with PH in Sabah because BN cannot go it alone there, so we need partners to face the state election. We are still considering various aspects, especially seat distribution. 'We don't want confusion. We want to be a strong team, so that voters are not confused and will give their support to strong parties that can govern Sabah,' he said. He was speaking to reporters after officiating the Umno Ledang Division Delegates' Meeting, which was also attended by Umno Ledang Division chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Talib at Dewan Putra Padang Lerek here today. Meanwhile, in Penang, Umno Wanita Chief Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad said the wing is conducting a detailed sentiment study to understand voter trends and grassroots feedback, which will be channelled directly to central, division and 'war room' leaderships. She said the sentiment analysis is being conducted continuously across the country to strengthen the party, and not just for elections. 'For the Sabah state election, the sentiment study has been completed and we leave it to the leadership to disclose the findings,' she said when met after officiating the Kepala Batas Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri Division Delegates' Meeting at Kubang Menerung in Kepala Batas. Noraini, who is also Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, said for the Sabah polls, Wanita Umno is moving in step with the state Umno to ensure the election machinery is always at peak readiness. She said Umno has a well-organised structure with task distribution among the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings to ensure all operations run smoothly and with focus. 'In fact, each wing – Wanita, Youth and Puteri – has its own specific role, but the real strength comes from coordination and teamwork,' she said. The five-year term of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly is set to dissolve automatically on November 11, paving the way for the 17th Sabah State Election to be held. – Bernama barisan nasional Mohamad Hasan Sabah state election

Palestinian Foreign Ministry Urges International Action To Halt Colonist Violence
RAMALLAH, June 29 (Bernama-WAFA) -- The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Sunday called on the international community to fulfil its obligations under international law and United Nations resolutions to stop ongoing attacks by Israeli colonists against Palestinian civilians. The Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA) reported that the ministry urged immediate implementation of relevant UN decisions, especially Security Council Resolution 2334, saying the recent waves of colonist violence across the West Bank reveal a clear division of roles between Israeli colonists and the occupation army. 'Both are working together to suppress civilians through intimidation, assaults, destruction of property, arson, and obstruction of daily life,' the ministry said in a statement. It described how main roads between Palestinian cities have been cut off, while entrances to villages have been closed with more than 1,200 checkpoints and iron gates, as part of a deliberate and systematic policy designed to control and suffocate Palestinian life. The ministry reiterated its commitment to diplomatic efforts at all levels to build international consensus around the need for concrete measures. It urged countries to impose sanctions on Israel's colonial settlement regime and to act swiftly to end impunity for colonist violence. -- BERNAMA-WAFA
