Who Is Ruchi Gujjar? Model Who Slapped Man Singh In Theatre Over Rs 25 Lakh Fraud

Last Updated: Who is Ruchi Gujjar? The actress who went viral for slapping actor Man Singh over an alleged ₹25 lakh scam during a Mumbai screening. Actress and model Ruchi Gujjar caused a major stir at a Mumbai theatre during a screening of the film Solang Valley, when she was caught on video slapping actor-producer Man Singh with a chappal. The shocking incident, which quickly went viral, is reportedly linked to a financial dispute between Ruchi and another producer, Karan Singh Chauhan. According to Ruchi, Chauhan allegedly cheated her out of ₹25 lakh under the pretext of investing in a television serial and falsely claimed association with Sony TV. She later discovered, she says, that the funds were diverted towards the production of Solang Valley. Ruchi's Allegations Ruchi has filed an FIR against Karan Singh Chauhan with Mumbai Police under sections 318(4), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). In her statement, Ruchi said, 'When I got the information that the film is releasing on July 27, I told him to return my money now, on which he started threatening me." She added that she had been misled under the false promise of television work, and was shocked to see the funds allegedly used to back a feature film instead. The situation escalated publicly at the screening, where her confrontation with actor Man Singh led to a slap caught on camera. Who Is Ruchi Gujjar? If the name Ruchi Gujjar rings a bell, it might be from her recent appearance at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The 27-year-old actress and model made headlines internationally when she walked the red carpet wearing a custom necklace featuring the image of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi—an audacious fashion and political statement that instantly went viral. Born in Mehara Gujarwas Khetri village in Rajasthan, Ruchi grew up in an army household—her father serves in the Indian armed forces. A graduate of Maharani College in Jaipur, she later moved to Mumbai to pursue her acting dreams. She's known for starring in several hit music videos including Jab Tu Meri Na Rahi, Heli Mein Chor, and Ek Ladki opposite actor Aman Verma. In a past interview with BollywoodMDB, Ruchi reflected on the cultural challenges she faced, 'It wasn't easy coming from a place where women are expected to follow tradition. But I knew I wanted something different for myself." She spoke candidly about growing up in a Gujjar family where pursuing a career in the entertainment industry was far from the norm, 'It was a difficult path, especially because women in my community are not allowed to take up careers like acting. But I fought for it." Political and Industry Reactions The incident has sent ripples through both entertainment and political circles. Footage of the slap has drawn varied reactions online, with some praising her for standing up against alleged fraud, while others questioned the public display. As Solang Valley released on July 27, the controversy has only amplified public interest in the film—but it has also raised difficult questions about transparency, trust, and exploitation in independent film financing. TV producer promised prime time, delivered a scam: Actress duped of ₹24 lakh

MUMBAI: A 27-year-old actress who recently walked the red carpet at Cannes has accused a television producer of cheating her of ₹24 lakh under the guise of offering high returns from an 'approved' Sony TV serial that never existed. TV producer promised prime time, delivered a scam: Actress duped of ₹ 24 lakh Oshiwara police have registered a case against the accused, Karan Singh Chauhan, 36, a self-styled producer, who allegedly lured the actress, Ruchi Gujjar, into investing in a fictional project that he claimed was greenlit by Sony and destined for release on OTT platforms. According to the complaint, Gujjar met Chauhan at his Oshiwara office in 2023. 'He claimed he had strong industry connections and was producing a daily soap for Sony TV. He promised I would earn massive returns if I came on board as an investor,' Gujjar told the police. To back his story, Chauhan arranged a meeting with one Nazia Sheikh at the Sony TV office in Malad, allegedly presenting her as the executive who would approve the show. At the meeting, Sheikh remained non-committal, but Chauhan later assured Gujjar that the project had been cleared. Believing she was backing a legitimate production, Gujjar transferred ₹24 lakh to Chauhan. But when the promised profits didn't materialise and calls went unanswered, she began digging. It was only when Gujjar contacted Sheikh directly that the mask slipped—Sony TV had never approved any such show, she was told. When confronted, Chauhan allegedly admitted he had lied about the approval and had used the funds to produce a film titled So Long Valley. He pleaded for time, saying he would repay her once the film rights were sold. That too, turned out to be a false promise. On June 25, Gujjar discovered that So Long Valley had already been released—without any profit-sharing, credit, or returns made to her. Realising she had been conned, she filed a police complaint on Thursday. 'We have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating and criminal breach of trust. The financial transactions are under scrutiny and the accused will be summoned for questioning,' said an officer from Oshiwara police station.

Actress and politician Kangana Ranaut has wholeheartedly welcomed the government's decision to ban OTT platforms such as Ullu, ALTT, and Desiflix for showing soft porn content. The government has directed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to disable public access to 25 OTT platforms – Big Shots App, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Jalva App, Wow Entertainment, Look Entertainment, Hitprime, Feneo, ShowX, Sol Talkies, Adda TV, HotX VIP, Hulchul App, MoodX, NeonX VIP, Fugi, Mojflix, and Triflicks. Speaking exclusively to IANS, the 'Queen' actress lauded the government's decision, saying that it was crucial to preserve our culture and future generations. Kangana told IANS, 'In order to preserve the overall culture of our country and the future path of our youngsters, and so that our society does not collapse completely, this step was much-awaited and is now much-appreciated. The action taken against these apps, especially the illegal ones, is highly appreciated." The government has asked the Internet Service Providers to disable or remove public access to these websites within the country. According to the media report, 'MIB has also intimated to the Director (DS-II), Department of Telecommunications, with a request to facilitate compliance by the ISPs." The above-mentioned apps have been found in violation of various laws, such as Section 67 and Section 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. Refreshing your memory, back in April, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court asking for a ban on sexually explicit content on OTT and social media. Responding to the petition, the Apex court said, 'It's not our domain, you do something". However, SC stressed the need for executive action in the matter. Meanwhile, talking about Kangana Ranaut, the actress was last seen in Emergency. The film, which was released in January this year, was a biopic of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Grandhi.
