Time of India15 hours ago
IndiGo plans to continue expanding its global footprint by adding more international destinations, supported by the induction of long-range A321 XLR aircraft this fiscal and newly leased wide-body planes.
The airline aims to increase its international capacity share from the current 28% to 40% by FY 2030, according to its annual report for 2024–25.
'We will continue to add more destinations internationally, especially with XLRs coming in along with our newly leased wide body aircraft for long haul operations. From 28 per cent current international capacity share, we are aiming for 40 per cent by FY 2030,' IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said in his message in the report, PTI reported.
The airline, which operates around 2,200 daily flights with a fleet of over 430 aircraft, currently holds a 64.5% share of the domestic air travel market. It recently launched long-haul flights to Amsterdam and Manchester using Boeing 787 Dreamliners leased from Norway's Norse Atlantic.
The first A321 XLRs are expected to join the fleet by the end of March 2026, followed by Airbus A350-900s in 2027.
Alongside international expansion, the airline also plans to 'explore new opportunities in the MRO space as India's infrastructure development is picking up,' the report said.

Despite macroeconomic headwinds and operational challenges such as aircraft groundings and fuel price volatility, IndiGo maintained a positive outlook, supported by strong demand and disciplined capacity growth.
'While macroeconomic uncertainties and operating headwinds such as aircraft groundings and fuel cost volatility remain, IndiGo continues to proactively manage these challenges through fleet diversification, damp leasing strategies and strategic agreements with OEMs,' the report stated.

TCS shares decline nearly 2 pc on layoff announcement

New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) Shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) declined nearly 2 per cent on Monday after the company announced that it will lay off about 12,000 employees of its global workforce this year. The stock dipped 1.69 per cent to ₹ 3,081.20 on the BSE. At the NSE, it went lower by 1.7 per cent to ₹ 3,081.60. India's largest IT services firm TCS is set to lay off about 2 per cent, or 12,261 employees, of its global workforce this year, with the majority of those impacted belonging to middle and senior grades. As of June 30, 2025, TCS's workforce stood at 6,13,069. It increased its workforce by 5,000 in the recently concluded June quarter. The move is part of the company's broader strategy to become a "future-ready organisation", focusing on investments in technology, AI deployment, market expansion, and workforce realignment, TCS said in a statement. "Towards this, a number of reskilling and redeployment initiatives have been underway. As part of this journey, we will also be releasing associates from the organisation whose deployment may not be feasible. This will impact about 2 per cent of our global workforce, primarily in the middle and the senior grades, over the course of the year," it said. TCS will provide appropriate benefits, outplacement, counselling, and support to the impacted employees, it added The move comes at a time when India's top IT services companies have delivered single-digit revenue growth in Q1FY26, capping off a somewhat-sobering June quarter as macroeconomic instability and geopolitical tensions weighed on global tech demand and delayed client decision-making.

Airtels Nxtra raises renewable energy sourcing deal with Ampin to 200 MW

Agency: New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) Nxtra by Airtel on Monday said it will source additional 125.65 megawatt renewable energy from Ampin Energy under a fresh agreement signed between the two companies. With this, the total renewable energy partnership between the two companies has crossed over 200 MW (megawatt). 'Nxtra by Airtel and AMPIN Energy Transition have strengthened their partnership with a new, power-wheeling agreement involving 125.65 MW of solar-wind hybrid energy through Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connected plants," Nxtra said in a statement. Earlier, the company had signed two deals for sourcing around 75 MW renewable energy from Ampin. The additional capacity will be delivered to Nxtra in two phases, each through captive solar-wind power projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka, respectively, the statement said. 'This achievement highlights our leadership in using ISTS-backed clean energy to power our facilities sustainably, boosting reliability and ensuring tangible climate impact," Nxtra by Airtel, CEO, Ashish Arora said. Ampin has been supplying solar power to Nxtra through intra-state, open access in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha. With this new agreement, AMPIN will add 11 new states as well as new technologies such as large-scale ISTS renewable energy supply and the seamless supply of renewable energy from a single Independent Power Producer (IPP). 'With this partnership, we demonstrate that through a seamless blend of inter-state and intra-state renewable energy solutions backed by a pan-India presence, we can take any customer through a nearly 100 per cent energy transition. 'Nxtra by Airtel, a leader in the data and fast-growing data centrespace shares our vision for sustainability and we are proud to make data centres green by this association," Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, MD and CEO, AMPIN Energy Transition, said. Nxtra joined the global RE100 initiative in June 2024, pledging to source 100 per cent of its electricity from renewable sources.
