Michigan football is on a recruiting heater at the moment, adding an incredible amount of top talent to the 2026 class over the past several weeks. But what about those who stayed and have been a part of the class since the beginning?
Dallas (Tx.) Parish Episcopal three-star wide receiver Jaylen Pile was the second commitment to the class, and though he isn't as celebrated as other commits and targets, he's still a ball player. And he made sure the nation remembered that on Friday night.
Taking part in the OT7 tournament with the team RGIII Takeover, Pile's group was facing insurmountable odds and needed an onside 'kick' in order to come back against C1N, down three points. The sophomore quarterback loaded for bear while Pile took off on a post route, outran the defenders, and when the pass ended up being in the breadbasket, Pile came down with the catch, with two feet inbounds, in the back of the endzone.
Though he might not be as ballyhooed as some of the other committed prospects, Pile has repeatedly shown that he's a playmaker, and he's been a voracious recruiter for the Wolverines, to boot.
Pile is expected to play slot receiver for the maize and blue when he arrives in Ann Arbor. He is currently one of two committed pass catchers in the 2026 class, with the other being four-star Zion Robinson, who pledged to the program earlier in the week. Michigan is favored to land at least one more, if not two receivers, in Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star Travis Johnson, and Miami (Fla.) Northwestern five-star Calvin Russell.

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The pool play rounds of the 2025 OT7 Finals are now behind us as more of the nation's top prospects turned heads in South Florida on Saturday. Rivals was again on hand and provided some fresh takeaways from the action. We counted single-digit interceptions tossed on the entire day and night while high point totals were simultaneously achieved. In amassing a top performers list, at least half of a top 10 would include passers who sprayed it all over the field from Dereon Coleman (Miami), Derrick Baker, Briggs Cherry (Louisville), Gavin Sidwar (Missouri), Maika Eugenio (Hawaii), Neimann Lawrence and many more. The clear weather was an indicator of precise QB play on this day. The big-time passer headed to Georgia has a big frame and the big arm attached to it, something he has showed off on routine at OT7. Newton's squad, captained by breakout quarterback prospect Derrick Baker, goes for a 'one-point gamble' after every score and it has executed on a high enough level to convert well more than not. Among the stars of Saturday were a trio of 2028 recruits, from IMG Academy's do-it-all talent Eric McFarland, who kicked off the day with multiple scores and the type of yards after contact that already separates him as a national recruit, to more dominance from Brysen Wright on the outside. The Jacksonville native made the play of the day Friday and continued to get behind defenders on Saturday in another multi-score showing. South Floridian Amir Sears continues to look like one of the more lengthy and instinctive players regardless of class or position, making plays at both wide receiver and defensive back. There is just a buzz when the Lo-Pro quarterback, who is committed to Hawaii, takes the field. He pilots the nation's top 7-on-7 club, which exited the weekend as not only the No. 1 seed for the championship on Sunday, but ran through its schedule undefeated and scored the most points along the way. Eugenio has the charisma to lead, but his play doesn't get spoken of enough. He processes like few passers nationally and can deliver to all three levels with both great accuracy and timing. Sure, he's small in stature and won't project like a potential No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick, but he just racks up wins at Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman High School and everywhere in between. I wouldn't bet against him continuing to prove his worth at Hawaii either.

According to the Associated Press, Harbaugh and Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel have been added to a class-action lawsuit targeting Weiss; who was indicted for hacking into the accounts of thousands of college athletes in search of intimate photos and other scandalous information. The complaint alleges that Harbaugh and others in the Wolverines' athletic department knew of Weiss' behavior and still allowed him to work on the staff. "The university's delay in taking meaningful protective action until after a high-stakes game sends a clear message: Student welfare was secondary," attorney Parker Stinar said. Advertisement "Had Harbaugh implemented basic oversight of his staff, plaintiffs and the class would have been protected against predators such as Weiss," the amended lawsuit stated. "Instead, Weiss was a highly compensated asset that was promoted by and within the football program, from which position he was able to, and did, target female student athletes."
