Thirteen illegal immigrants were jailed four months each for entering the State illegally.

Kota Kinabalu: They were Timhar Sajan, Sharif Azman, Radzmil Ibnu, Normin Benjamin, Mohamad Ibnu, Mar Barli, Benjamin Jalang, Emilinda Sabu Goran, Martina Bataubine Wokal, Sapir Ali, Amin Jul, Muhammad Isa Totong and Marsel Jaid. All the illegal immigrants comprising Indonesians and Filipinos pleaded guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain, to entering the State without their valid documents. The offence under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, and whipping, on conviction. The illegal immigrants were arrested by the Immigration team who carried out operation in Tenom, Sipitang, Menumbok and Kota Marudu and Kudat in May June and July this year. During the operation, they failed to produce their identification documents to the Immigration personnel. During mitigation, the illegal immigrants begged for leniency and to be deported to their hometown as soon as possible. The court ordered the illegal immigrants to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrests. After completing their jail sentence, all of the illegal foreigners were ordered referred to the Immigration Department for further action. Fire near Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant contained: Russia
A fire that broke out near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant after Ukrainian shelling has been brought under control, the Russian-installed administration of the Russia-held plant in Ukraine said on Saturday. Russian forces seized the Zaporizhzhia plant in the first weeks of Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. 2 Bangladeshi cyclists killed in hit-and-run
MUAR: Two Bangladeshi cyclists were killed and a fellow country man seriously injured after a hit-and-run in Parit Salam, Parit Yusof, here last night. The 8.45pm crash occurred when the three Bangladeshi men, all aged 21, were cycling against traffic from Parit Yusof towards Bukit Mor before an unidentified vehicle heading in the opposite direction crashed into them. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said initial investigations revealed the vehicle hit the trio, flinging them onto the left shoulder of the road. One cyclist died on the spot, while another succumbed to his injuries while he sought treatment at the Muar hospital's red zone. The third victim suffered fractures to his right wrist and shoulder and is treated in the hospital's yellow zone. As per press time, the driver is yet to lodge a report. "Investigations are underway to identify the driver, and vehicle involved to facilitate investigations for reckless driving causing deaths," he said in a statement today. If convicted, the offender faces up to 10 years' jail and a RM50,000 fine. Raiz urged witnesses to come forward and assist the investigation. Those who witnessed the accident are urged to contact investigating officer Inspector Khairun Izham Noor Yusry at 013-9121508.

Zara Qairina death probe completed, case to AGC

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the case will be referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers next week, with 60 witnesses interviewed. Zara's mother, through lawyers Hamid Ismail and Shahlan Jufri, denied linking the case to any VIPs and urged the public not to spread unverified claims, warning such actions could hinder investigations. Police found no evidence connecting the incident to political or influential figures.
