TTD condemns Hyd based devotee's malicious propaganda over quality of Laddu
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has condemned the devotee's accusations and clarified that while it was true that the devotee identified as
Naveen Kumar
sustained an injury in his mouth when he tried to savour the sacred prasadam, but it was not because of the poor quality of the laddu.
Naveen Kumar alleged in a video which has gone viral on various social media platforms that he sustained an injury in his mouth after he consumed the laddu prasadam after completing his darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on June 8.
"On June 8 after
TTD
came to know about the incident and Naveen Kumar was rushed to TTD run Aswini and SVIMS hospitals and various medical tests were carried out and treatment was provided to him.
The medical tests confirmed that Naveen Kumar sustained an injury as he bit his tongue while trying to eat the laddu. Hence it is clear that the injury caused to the devotee was not because of the poor quality of the prasadam", a TTD official clarified.
The TTD authorities said the pilgrim has resorted to a malicious misinformation propaganda over the issue by levelling allegations over the quality of laddu with a sole intention of extorting a compensation from the Tirupati trust. "Since none of his allegations is true and since he has resorted to a false propaganda against the laddu prasadam, which has hurt the sentiments of the devotees worldwide, appropriate legal action will be initiated against Naveen Kumar for trying to mislead the public with his false propaganda", TTD authorities added.

'Reflection Of Values': Varnika Kundu As Stalker Vikas Barala Gets Appointed Haryana AAG
Last Updated: Vikas Barala and his friend allegedly pursued her, attempted to block her path, and tried to enter her vehicle. Delhi-based disc jockey Varnika Kundu on Wednesday said that she continues to have faith in the Indian judiciary after her stalker Vikas Barala, the son of Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party chief, was appointed as an Assistant Advocate General (AAG) at Delhi by the Haryana government. She further added that the appointment of such an accused to a public position of power is not just a political decision, but is a reflection of values and standards. Barala, accused in a 2017 stalking case, is among over 100 law officers whose appointments were notified on July 18 by the state government. Issuing her statement on his appointment, Kundu wrote, 'Appointing someone to a public position of power is not just a political decision – it's a reflection of values and standards. So perhaps the questions should be directed at the authorities whose ethics and standards allowed this decision to be made." 'Our policymakers run the country; the rest of us are just hoping they remember that they work for the Indian citizen," the statement read, adding, 'What I will speak about is my own case – and the fact that despite months of national media attention, it has dragged on for this long with little progress." 'Although we seem no closer to a conclusion than we were five years ago, I continue to hold faith in the judiciary until the verdict is announced – but I won't deny that faith has wavered," Kundu stated, asserting her faith in the judiciary. 2017 Stalking Case The Kundu stalking case dates back to 2017, when the daughter of former senior IAS officer VS Kundu — Varnika Kundu, was heading to her home in Chandigarh when she noticed a car following her. Vikas Barala and his friend allegedly pursued her, attempted to block her path, and tried to enter her vehicle. Following this, an FIR was filed under Sections 354D (stalking), 341 (wrongful restraint), 365 (attempt to abduct) and 511 (attempt to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The two men were also charged with drunk driving in the FIR. The trial is ongoing in a Chandigarh court, where the next date of hearing is August 2, 2025. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. IRCTC case: Delhi court adjourns order on framing of charges against Lalu Prasad, relatives till August 5
A Delhi court on Wednesday (July 23, 2025) deferred till August 5 its order on framing of charges against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, their son Tejashwi Yadav and others in a case linked to alleged irregularities in the IRCTC. On May 29, the court reserved its order after the arguments were concluded on the aspect of charge. Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav have refuted corruption and other charges levelled against them by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case. The charges also include criminal conspiracy and cheating, and carry a maximum jail term of seven years. Also Read | Lalu Prasad family and CBI searches: all you need to know The three claimed before the court through their lawyer that the CBI lacked evidence to prosecute them. Prasad, who was the Railway Minister during the UPA-I government, earlier questioned the validity of sanctions obtained by the CBI to prosecute him. The agency told the court on February 28 that there was sufficient evidence to prosecute the accused persons. The case is linked to alleged irregularities in the grant of operational contracts of two Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) hotels to a private firm. IRCTC case: Delhi court grants bail to Lalu, wife Rabri and son Tejashwi According to the CBI charge sheet, a conspiracy was hatched between 2004 and 2014 in pursuance of which BNR hotels of the Indian Railways located in Puri and Ranchi were first transferred to the IRCTC. They were later leased to the Patna-based Sujata Hotels Private Limited for operations and maintenance. The tender process, the CBI alleged, was rigged and manipulated and the conditions were tweaked to help the private party — Sujata Hotels. The charge sheet also names former group general managers of IRCTC V.K. Asthana and R.K. Goyal and Vijay Kochhar and Vinay Kochhar, both directors of Sujata Hotels and owners of Chanakya Hotel. Delight Marketing Company, now known as Lara Projects, and Sujata Hotels have also been named as accused in the charge sheet.

Haryana rights panel imposes Rs 50k fine on home dept after cops disrobe disabled CA in custody, allow man to click photos
The Haryana Human Rights Commission has imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the state Home Department for disrobing a disabled Chartered Accountant and allowing his brother-in-law to take his semi-nude pictures and videos, which were then circulated on social media. 'Such cruel and disregarding treatment, particularly of a person with a disability, is utterly unacceptable in a civilised society,' the full bench of the Commission, led by Justice Lalit Batra, ruled in the order released on Wednesday. The Commission, which also comprises Kuldip Jain and Deep Bhatia, has allowed the department to recover the penalty from the errant police officers, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Jagwati and Constable Rakesh Kumar. Reacting to the order, the Faridabad-based complainant Anil Thakur said, 'Justice may have been delayed, but it has finally arrived. The violation of my dignity has been acknowledged'. Thakur was arrested on May 24, 2021, in connection with a criminal case. In his complaint, he alleged that while in custody at Saran police station in Faridabad, he was stripped, photographed, and filmed in a semi-naked condition, and that the images were later circulated. The incident, he stated, caused him extreme mental trauma and public humiliation, and gravely violated his human rights. Over the last four years, as the Faridabad police continued to defend its officers and failed to supply the CCTV footage of the incident, the Commission carried out a probe through its investigation wing. 'An impartial inquiry conducted by the Commission's Investigation Wing confirmed that ASI Jagwati and Constable Rakesh Kumar had indeed compelled Mr Thakur to undress in custody. Shockingly, they even permitted his relative (brother-in-law) to record videos and take photos during his detention. This not only breached police conduct rules but also trampled upon the complainant's privacy, dignity, and mental well-being', the Commission pointed out. In its detailed and strongly worded order, the Commission observed: 'This incident challenges the very spirit of constitutional values and the notion of human dignity. No individual — regardless of the accusations against them — deserves to be subjected to such humiliation and public exposure. This act is a direct violation of the Right to Life and Personal Liberty enshrined under Article 21 of the Constitution'. 'As a result of the incident, the complainant has reported persistent emotional trauma, humiliation and depression, which amounts to mental agony in a custodial environment. The psychological consequences arising from being stopped in police custody are long-lasting and amount to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, entitling the complainant to judicial protection, redressal and appropriate compensation under constitutional and human rights law,' the Commission said in its order. Dr Puneet Arora, Protocol, Information & Public Relations Officer of the Commission, informed that as per the panel's directions, 'the Home Department of the Government of Haryana has been ordered to pay Rs 50,000 as compensation to the victim… While symbolic in nature, the compensation reflects the state's recognition of its responsibility to uphold the dignity of every citizen'. 'Police custody must not turn into a site of torture and shame. This order sends a clear message that the system will not tolerate custodial abuse or the misuse of power,' added Dr Arora.
