Turkey's Hayat Kimya Launches $44M Hygiene Product Factory in Egypt's Suez Zone
Turkish multinational Hayat Kimya has laid the foundation stone for a new hygiene product factory in Ain Sokhna, located within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The project represents a $44 million investment and is expected to create 400 direct jobs.
The factory will produce a range of hygiene products, with 75% of its output designated for export to African markets, and the remaining 25% allocated for the Egyptian domestic market.
Officials praised the collaborative support from local authorities, with special thanks extended to the Governor of Suez and the Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone for their roles in facilitating the project and participating in the groundbreaking ceremony.
The company's Egypt General Manager, Şenol Keserlioğlu, along with the factory leadership, engineers, and workers, were congratulated for their hard work and commitment to expanding Hayat Kimya's presence in the region.
This investment is part of Hayat Kimya's broader strategy to strengthen its industrial footprint in Africa and the Middle East, while contributing to local employment and export-led growth in Egypt.

Egypt's PM inspects Downtown Towers, Lagoons project in New Alamein
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday inspected the Downtown Towers and Downtown Lagoons projects in New Alamein City to review their progress, his office said. Following meetings at the government's headquarters in the new coastal city, Madbouly toured the sites accompanied by Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, and other ministry officials. At the Downtown Towers project, Madbouly said the aim was to make the area one of the most famous and attractive destinations globally and locally, through unique architectural designs situated around a lakes area. He added that the area would embody sustainability and the characteristics of a smart city with international standards. The housing minister explained that the project is being implemented by the Chinese company CSCEC, similar to the Central Business District towers in the New Administrative Capital. The project includes the construction of five fully-finished residential towers, featuring an 'iconic' tower 250 metres high (68 storeys) and four other towers each 200 metres high (56 storeys). Madbouly also reviewed the progress of the Downtown Lagoons project, which is situated between the towers. El-Sherbiny explained that the trial filling of the largest of the project's 11 lakes has begun to test its equipment, components, insulation, and engineering works. He noted that the project also includes islands, a tourist promenade, and paths for bicycles and electric cars.

Dubai,July 2025 – Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, recently concluded a high-level visit to the People's Republic of China (July 7-10, 2025). The visit aimed to significantly advance the strategic partnership between the two nations, focusing on critical areas of climate action, sustainable agriculture, and food security. Her Excellency Dr. Al Dahak emphasised the unique nature of the UAE-China relationship, stating, 'The historical bonds between the UAE and China have evolved beyond traditional relations into a comprehensive and interconnected strategic partnership. This collaboration serves as a unique model for successful cooperation across various fields and projects, serving the mutual interests of both nations and supporting stability and sustainable development regionally and globally.' Her Excellency added, 'The UAE is an active partner for the People's Republic of China, serving as a pivotal gateway to the Middle East and African markets. Bilateral ties in sustainable agriculture and climate issues have been paramount, with both countries committed to finding effective solutions. Her Excellency was briefed on the second phase of the project, delivered successfully in December 2024, which includes 23,500 palms additional to the 1,500 delivered in the first phase in February 2023. A third phase in September and December 2026 will see 35,000 additional trees, followed by 40,000 palms in the fourth phase in 2028. His Excellency Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, said: 'Our enduring relationship with China spans a vast array of fields, and this visit marks yet another significant chapter in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and China.' At the Beijing Tongzhou International Seed Industry Science and Technology Centre and Tsinghua University, the delegation explored cutting-edge technological innovations in seed science, circular economy practices, and research and development efforts. Discussions at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) focused on sustainable agriculture and technology transfer. The visit to the Beijing Pinggu Agricultural Sci-Tech Innovation Park highlighted progress in dairy science, smart breeding, and environmentally friendly practices, while meetings with leaders from the Coconut Research Institute covered tropical agriculture and sustainability. Environmental collaboration was a significant focus, with the delegation visiting the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Science (CRAES) to discuss air pollution control, clean transportation, and solid waste management. Meetings with prominent environmental leaders, including Mr. Ma Jun, Founder and Director of the Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs (IPE), addressed data transparency and corporate climate action, exploring avenues for future collaboration, including digital empowerment for environmental transformation. Concurrently, a group of the delegation led by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Food Diversity Sector, visited Inspur Company, a leading provider of cloud computing and big data services. Taarek Refaat Egypt has firmly secured its position as the world's leading exporter of frozen strawberries for the second consecutive year, shipping over 353,000 metric tons in 2024 and generating $383 million in export revenue, according to the Export Council for Food Industries. The country captured an impressive 27% share of the global market, topping more than 100 international destinations, reflecting Egypt's rising prominence in global agri-food supply chains and the enduring trust in the quality, safety, and competitiveness of its produce. Double-Digit Growth in Demand and Revenue Egypt's frozen strawberry exports have grown at an average annual rate of 26% in value and 24% in volume from 2020 to 2024. The most recent export cycle (2023–2024) witnessed a 14% year-on-year increase in export value, signaling a sharp uptick in global demand for the Egyptian product. 'This sustained growth is no accident—it's the result of a coordinated effort between public and private stakeholders to enhance product quality and meet stringent international food safety standards,' the Council said in a statement. Top Markets: China Leads the Way The five largest importers of Egyptian frozen strawberries in 2024 were: China – $41.9 million (11% of Egypt's total exports) Germany – $41.8 million Russia – $31.1 million United States – $30.9 million Poland – $30.5 million Together, these five markets accounted for 46% of Egypt's total frozen strawberry exports, highlighting the product's appeal across Asia, Europe, and North America.
