The complainant stated that while attempting to deposit money at an ATM, the three accused convinced him to use the cash deposit machine, only to later withdraw the amount fraudulently from an ATM in Burari.
During the probe, police reviewed CCTV footage from the ATM booth and identified and apprehended one suspect, Dharmender. His accomplices, Saheb Kumar Sahni and Tuntun Mahto, were subsequently traced and arrested.
The accused confessed to frequently loitering near ATM booths to collect forgotten ATM cards. Using these cards, they would deceive victims either by exchanging cards or withdrawing cash fraudulently, police said. TNN

Tourist Grabs Teen, Leaves "Nail Marks" For Spot At Disney Parade

A tourist from Spain has been detained and charged with child abuse after allegedly hurting a 17-year-old girl during a packed evening parade at the Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, Martha Lucia Zapata-Echeverri, 51, was taken into custody by the Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) on Monday for the offence of child abuse at Disney's Magic Kingdom in Bay Lake, Florida. At around 9:40 pm on July 21, park visitors gathered along Main Street USA close to Cinderella Castle when deputies were called to break up an "altercation" between the teenager and Zapata-Echeverri. Zapata-Echeverri allegedly grabbed the girl's arm during the fight, shortly before the amusement park's nightly parade started. The 17-year-old explained that she was standing quietly in her designated spot when Zapata-Echeverri put her hand on the teen's elbow, allegedly to provide more space, and told her in Spanish not to touch her. The tourist allegedly grabbed the teen's arm and yanked her away shortly after, leaving her visible bruises and "nail marks." According to the affidavit, the youngster was the only person hurt in the encounter, and deputies reported a "small abrasion and bruise." Authorities claimed neither security footage nor independent witnesses observed the altercation, which took place in a public area where sizable crowds were assembling before the parade. Suspect Zapata-Echeverri, who was born in Colombia but currently resides in Spain, admitted to deputies that she was trailing her daughter to watch the parade from the front of the crowd. Inconsistently, she claimed the girl had pushed her first, saying it was "her spot." However, she was unable to provide a clear explanation for how the victim got the "nail marks" and instead "pantomimed" the teenager who had pushed her. The case is primarily based on the teen's account and the visible injuries to her arm because no other witnesses or CCTV footage prove the encounter. Zapata-Echeverri was taken into custody and charged with child abuse. She was later released from the Orange County jail after posting a $2,500 (approximately Rs 2 lakh) bond. Her attorney confirmed she arrived in Central Florida on a tourist visa on July 2 and appeared in court on July 22. Zapata-Echeverri was expected to leave Florida on July 23, per WESH.

Indian Man Arrested For Stealing Bags And Makeup Worth Rs 3.5 Lakh From Singapore Airport

A 38-year-old Indian man who allegedly stole items worth Rs 3.5 lakh from several shops at Singapore's Jewel Changi Airport before flying out of the country has been arrested. According to The Straits Times, the man targeted 14 shops at the airport, stealing various items including perfumes, cosmetics and bags worth a total of Singapore Dollars (SGD) 5,136, police said on Wednesday. After stealing, he casually boarded his flight and left the country. But upon his return to Singapore on June 1, the 38-year-old was arrested, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in a press release on July 23. According to the outlet, authorities learned of the thefts after a retail shop discovered that a bag from the store was missing. It was the shop's retail supervisor who discovered that the bag was missing during a stock-taking exercise. CCTV footage showed the Indian man taking the item and leaving the shop without paying. Cops then successfully established his identity. However, by that time, the Indian national had already left Singapore. The 38-year-old man returned to Singapore on June 1 and was arrested while he was in transit at Changi Airport. The police said that the stolen items were recovered from the man, who is now expected to be charged on July 25 with theft and fraudulent possession of property. "Offenders should not think that they can evade capture by quickly boarding a flight. The police will continue to work closely with stakeholders to prevent and deter shop theft cases," police said, per the outlet. Earlier this year, another Indian national was arrested for stealing over SGD 1,800 (INR 1,14,705) worth of items from five shops at Singapore's Changi Airport. A court handed Singh Sagar, 37, five theft charges for stealing items including stationery, chocolates and jewellery from Terminal 3's departure transit area in about three hours on March 23, The Straits Times reported. His alleged crime spree started at WH Smith bookstore where he allegedly stole over SGD 550 (INR 35,032) worth of items, including three stationery sets and a power bank. Singh then went to The Cocoa Trees candy shop, Discover Singapore souvenir store, Kaboom toy store, and Victoria's Secret lingerie shop where he allegedly stole items including four boxes of chocolates worth more than SGD 238 (INR 15,160), multiple boxes of jewellery, t-shirts, watches, and a handbag worth SGD 135 (INR 8616.04).

12-Year-Old Asks Father To Pay 1 Crore For Custody, Top Court Warns Mother

New Delhi: Hearing a child custody case, Chief Justice of India BR Gavai warned a 12-year-old girl's mother against "spoiling her mind" after the child demanded Rs 1 crore from her father if he wanted her to stay with him. The child, the court noted, also attacked her father with a stick and warned her mother that this would "come back" to her someday. Senior Advocate PR Patwalia, appearing for the father, told the court that the couple had a matrimonial dispute, after which the district court granted the child's custody to the father. The mother's challenge to the order in the high court is pending, but she has not handed over the child's custody, the lawyer said. The high court rejected the father's contempt case, and he approached the top court. Mr Patwalia told the bench, also comprising Justice K Vinod Chandran, that in September last year, the Supreme Court asked the district legal services authority to appoint a paralegal volunteer to ensure that the father's visitation rights are implemented. At this point, Chief Justice Gavai recounted that the child had also attacked her father with a stick in the past. "Now, kindly see what happened yesterday. Only yesterday, again the girl has declined to come with me. And she says that 'you are harassing my mother, you have filed a contempt (case), you please give Rs 1 crore, otherwise I will not go. On top of that, in the school records, the mother has deleted the name of the father," Mr Patwali said. He added that "punishing the mother is not going to achieve anything" and sought mediation in the matter. When the mother's counsel, Anubha Agrawal, said she was open to mediation, Chief Justice Gavai told the mother, "You are unnecessarily dragging your child, you are spoiling the career of your child, you are spoiling her mind. This will come back someday." The court eventually referred the matter to a mediator after both sides agreed. "Taking into consideration that the dispute is a matrimonial dispute, we consider it appropriate to refer the parties to mediation. With the consent of parties, we appoint Hon'ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Former Chief Justice of High Court of Uttarakhand as Mediator. The Mediator shall consider all the issues between the parties," it said.
