Braith Anasta hits back over cruel comments about his appearance - as he announces exciting career news
The former NRL star turned sports presenter has officially extended his deal with Fox Sports through to the end of the 2028 NRL season – and he's celebrating the news with some trademark humour.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the 43-year-old shared an emotional post thanking his supporters and reflecting on his journey from footy field to prime-time punditry.
'DREAM BIG KIDDOS, block out the noise, surround yourself with good people and work your f**king a**'s off!' he wrote.
'Always striving to be the best I can possibly be.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
'Thank you to my family, friends, work colleagues and everyone who has and is supporting me along this incredible journey. There is no way in the world I'd be here without every single one of you.'
But it was what happened in the comments that had fans in stitches.
Underneath the heartfelt post, Aussie beer brand Bloke In A Bar cheekily wrote: 'The more success you have the better your tan gets.'
Never one to miss a beat, Braith fired back with a tongue-in-cheek reply: 'My tan = my driving force ' - proving he's got just as much wit as he does work ethic.
Anasta - who retired from the NRL in 2014 - has carved out an impressive second act as the host of NRL 360, which he took over in 2022.
Ratings have surged since, with insiders crediting his fresh, confident style.
Anasta - and his fellow Fox Sports host Matty Johns - have recently signed upgraded deals that will see them through to the end of the 2028 NRL season as streaming giant DAZN makes moves after buying Foxtel.
The global streaming giant's recent purchase marked a huge shake-up in Australian sports media, with the company expected to soon begin negotiations for a broadcast deal with the NRL.
Anasta, who retired from rugby league in 2014, has transitioned seamlessly to working in the media and has become a household name among footy fans.
In 2022, he took over as the host of NRL 360 and ratings have been on the up ever since.
'We didn't realise Braith was going to be this good,' Fox Sports boss Steve Crawley told News Corp.
'He's done a remarkable job, and I have a suspicion he's going to continue to get better.'
Anasta's deal is said to be lucrative, but the exact figures remain undisclosed.
'When you put hosts in, sometimes they think they've got to present like the people before them,' Crawley said.
'With Braith, he's got a new way of presenting sport that is very much a 2025 contemporary way.
'They've got to be themselves. His work ethic is unbelievable, and he's world-class.
'We're delighted to have him for another three years.'
Anasta took to social media over the weekend to confirm that he was extending his contract and thank those who have helped him along the way.
'Dream big kiddos, block out the noise, surround yourself with good people and work your f**king ass's off,' he posted.
'Always striving to be the best I can possibly be.
'Thank you to my family, friends, work colleagues and everyone who has and is supporting me along this incredible journey. There is no way in the world I'd be here without every single one of you.'
Beyond his role as a Fox Footy pundit, Anasta also runs the sports management company Searoo, which represents NRL stars including Cameron Munster and Lachlan Ilias.

See the proof footy legend Billy Slater's teenage son has the talent to follow in his dad's footsteps
Billy Slater's son, Jake, has been branded a 'chip off the old block' after showcasing his skills during an U15s match this week. Jake was representing Victoria during the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships during their Pool B clash against the Northern Territory. The side ran out a 26-10 victory against their opponents, having previously beaten West Australia in the competition but were defeated by the First Nations Goannas on Monday. The win saw Victoria advance to the final of the competition, which will be played on Friday. Victoria were leading Northern Territory 20-10 heading into the final two minutes of the match and had advanced their way up to Northern Territory's try line. Jake received the ball off the back of a ruck 10m out and faked a dummy pass out wide, sending multiple Northern Territory defenders off-balance. The young footy player then cut back inside off his right foot and showed his acceleration to dart past one advancing defender before sliding down across the whitewash, showing shades of his NRL great dad. SHADES OF HIS FATHER: Jake Slater (son of Billy Slater) showed some great footwork and a good step before crossing for a try at the U15s National Champs Slater has been key in directing traffic in attack and helped guide Victoria to the Championship Final on Friday @zerotackle — Ethan Lee Chalk (@EthanLeeChalk) July 1, 2025 Members of his team surrounded him in celebration as his side would go on to seal a 26-10 victory, while others online also lauded the youngster and his team-mate. 'Love seeing the next generation shine!' one wrote on X. 'Jake's got that Slater magic - great vision and footwork just like his dad. Big future ahead.' 'Chip off the old block that Jake,' another said. His dad, Billy, enjoyed a glittering career in footy's top flight, scoring 191 tries for the Melbourne Storm, winning two premierships with the side across his 15-year playing career. Slater now turns his attention to next week's State of Origin decider, as Queensland look to wrestle back the shield from New South Wales. Slater has handed a shock Origin recall to 33-year-old Josh Papalii, a move that has raised a lot of eyebrows around the NRL world. The Raiders star last played for the Maroons in 2022, but Slater believes he still has the fire to help his side win the series. 'It's probably something that I've had in the back of my mind for a couple of years now, in particular this year, the way that Big Papa has been playing for Canberra and the performances he's been putting in,' Slater said. 'I spoke to Papa a couple of days ago and the response was pretty much where my head was at, which was fantastic. 'It just shows you that he's still got that fire to play for this footy team, he's got that fire to represent the people of Queensland and he's got that fire to go out and do a good job for his state, so I was pleased to hear that. 'He's got an aura about him, he's a real warrior and has been for this footy team for a long time.

Andy Farrell plays down full-back concerns as Elliot Daly faces X-ray on forearm
Elliot Daly is to undergo an X-ray for a possible broken forearm after being forced off in the second half of the British and Irish Lions' 52-12 victory over Queensland Reds. Head coach Andy Farrell denied the Lions are facing problems at full-back despite the doubt that now hovers over Daly's ongoing participation in the tour. Advertisement Daly made a remarkable 11th successive appearance in a Lions matchday 23 after being drafted in as a late replacement for Huge Keenan, who was ruled out by illness shortly before kick-off. The England star and veteran of three Lions tours was on song again for Farrell's men, only to be left clutching his left arm in agony after making a tackle on Jock Campbell and, after playing on, he left the field in the 67th minute. 'Elliot's got a bang on the forearm and he's going for an X-ray this evening (Wednesday). We've all got our fingers crossed for him,' Farrell said. 'He's been back to his good old self. We've seen him do that on these tours before and he's certainly the type of character that loves touring. He's a people person. Advertisement 'I phoned him up today. He'd just come out of the gym, had done a tough old session, and I said to him, 'How was the gym session?' He says, 'Good, yeah, we trained hard'. Tommy Freeman scores a try in Brisbane (Pat Hoelscher/AP) 'I said, 'Well done, you've won the golden ticket, you're playing this evening'. He was not phased at all and that's the type of characters that you need on tours like this.' Daly's injury, Keenan's withdrawal and the fact Blair Kinghorn only arrived into Lions camp on Monday paints a picture of dwindling options in the number 15 jersey, but Farrell is comfortable with who he has available. 'We've loads of full-backs. Hugo will be OK tomorrow (Thursday) or the next day and Blair's ready to go,' he said. Advertisement Jac Morgan was named man of the match after showing huge appetite to tackle, carry and battle on the floor, but it was captain Maro Itoje who made the biggest impact at Suncorp Stadium. The England skipper was magnificent across the field and decorated his night's work with a well-taken try. Maro Itoje is tackled defender during the Lions' game against the Queensland Reds (Pat Hoelscher/AP) With the Test series two and a half weeks away, it was a reassuring 80 minutes from Itoje, who was singled out for praise by Farrell. After Joe McCarthy starred against the Western Force on Saturday, he knew he had to deliver. 'The whole point of these tours is you're with great players and you see great players performing well. That gives you extra motivation to perform well,' Itoje said. Advertisement 'Despite my role as captain, I know that if I'm not playing well then it doesn't matter if I'm captain or not, I won't be in the team, so I need to make sure that my performance is where it needs to be. 'I want everyone to play well, all of my team-mates. Our job as players is one, to work together, and that's really important, and two, to make all the coaches' jobs as hard as possible when it comes to picking the team.'
