The partnership will offer high-quality education and training opportunities for Emirati students pursuing degrees in critical fields such as mechanical, electrical, nuclear, and chemical engineering. Alsaadi highlighted the Ministry's commitment to aligning scholarships with market needs, stating that the goal is to transform academic pathways into launchpads for future leaders.
ENEC, for its part, will provide structured training and mentorship to scholarship recipients, and offer employment opportunities upon graduation as part of its long-term talent development strategy. 'This partnership supports ENEC's efforts to attract and prepare the next generation of specialists,'
said Al Shamsi. 'It reflects our role in advancing clean energy and strengthening the UAE's knowledge-based economy.'

ENEC, Samsung C&T in deal to develop civil nuclear projects

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company and Samsung C&T Corporation have signed a MoU that will see the duo jointly evaluate and pursue opportunities in civil nuclear energy development and investment internationally. The agreement brings together ENEC's global nuclear leadership and Samsung C&T's deep engineering and infrastructure expertise to support the deployment of clean, dispatchable electricity worldwide. The MoU sets the stage for collaboration across several key areas, said ENEC in a statement. These include potential investment in conventional nuclear projects such as new builds, restarts and brownfield Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activity in the US; future deployment of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies in the UAE, US, and internationally and evaluation of opportunities in nuclear-powered hydrogen production in South Korea and other markets. Also, it will pave the way for the investment in US-based nuclear service and equipment companies; and the joint assessment of the development and financing of a nuclear power plant in Romania, it added. On the strategic collabortation, Managing Director and CEO Mohamed Al Hammadi said: 'Nuclear energy has a pivotal role in delivering clean electricity at scale to meet rapidly growing global demand." ENEC, he stated, has demonstrated that with the right strategy and partnerships, nuclear projects can be delivered safely on time, and to the highest national and international standards. "Through this MoU with Samsung C&T, we are expanding our global collaboration efforts to enable new nuclear deployment, investment, and innovation. Together, we will explore projects that deliver real impact for countries seeking energy security, decarbonisation, and long-term economic growth," he stated. Samsung C&T President and CEO Oh Sechul pointed out that the nuclear power plays a vital role as a reliable baseload source to ensure the stable supply of clean energy. "By combining the advanced technologies and global networks that both companies have built in the large-scale nuclear and SMR sectors, I look forward to creating synergies through close collaboration," he added. An initiative rooted in national giving and social responsibility This generous contribution reflects a strong culture of national giving and the deep sense of social responsibility demonstrated by UAE institutions. It also aligns with the humanitarian legacy established by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who launched the first endowment for orphans in the emirate. A milestone in supporting the vulnerable The Dubai Islamic Bank's sponsorship marks a pivotal moment in empowering the underprivileged. As a prominent player in national charitable efforts, the Bank is contributing to a sustainable endowment, the proceeds of which will fund the Foundation's comprehensive care programs for its beneficiaries. This step highlights the banking sector's commitment to social development and equity. A continuation of Sharjah's charitable legacy Her Excellency Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dubai Islamic Bank for this noble gesture. As the first financial institution to sponsor the endowment, the Bank is continuing the legacy of the Ruler of Sharjah, who initiated this charitable journey. Al Suwaidi noted that this full sponsorship represents a significant shift in expanding the Foundation's capacity to launch sustainable projects and improve the quality of life for orphans. A unique Emirati model for orphan care Al Suwaidi added that this partnership showcases the high level of institutional responsibility across sectors in the UAE. It embodies a collaborative model of giving that sets an example for both the region and the world. The initiative underlines the strategic importance of public-private partnerships in building a comprehensive and sustainable care system for orphans. Building a sustainable future The Foundation aims to establish a growing series of endowments under the 'Prophet's Neighbours Endowment' project. These are designed to generate permanent income that supports members in achieving self-reliance. The initiative reflects the Foundation's vision to transition from traditional care to empowerment through a sustainable, long-term development framework.
