'We Were Liars': Who Is Related To Who? The Sinclair Family Tree Explained

Elle24-06-2025
Among the books that dominated the year of 2014 was E. Lockhart's bestselling young adult novel, We Were Liars. Thankfully, the gods at Prime Video were also fans of the un-put-downable novel, and as such they commissioned its adaptation, all eight episodes of which have just premiered on the streaming platform.
In keeping with the themes of the novel, We Were Liars tells the story of Cadence Sinclair Eastman, as those in her orbit try to piece together what happened to her the summer prior. What ensues is an all-encompassing mystery, which involves the entire family.

Jenny Han Teases ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 Ending

You might think you know how The Summer I Turn Pretty will end, but according to author Jenny Han, you have no idea. Speaking about the third and final season of the Prime Video hit series, Jenny Han teased The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 ending, suggesting that the show might end without resolving the love triangle (gasp!). Jenny hinted at a twist ending during an appearance on this week's Wild Card with Rachel Martin podcast. When the host suggested that the show had to end with Belly making a choice between Conrad and Jeremiah—it is the love triangle at the center of the series, after all—Jenny disagreed. 'Well, she doesn't,' the writer said. 'I don't think she has to choose one.' Could Jenny really be saying that season 3 might end with Belly of the above? In the books—spoiler alert!—Belly ends up marrying Conrad in the future, years after her engagement to Jeremiah (which we will see in season 3) ends. But back in March, Jenny hinted that the end of the show might be very different. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Jenny mentioned that the season would include a few curveballs for fans of the trilogy. 'There are the things that they know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them,' she said. Jenny's statements are cryptic for sure, but do they really mean that Belly will end up choosing herself in the end? I'm not convinced. Despite telling Rachel Martin that she doesn't 'like too neat of an ending,' Jenny also said, 'My biggest thing is I really want people to love it, and I want people to feel satisfied with it.' As a lover of the show, I can say with absolute certainty that if Belly ends up alone—without even a hint of a future with either Conrad or Jeremiah—the fans will not be satisfied. Personally, I'm hoping that what Jenny means by Belly not needing to choose is that the choice might be made for her, whether that means she gets dumped by Jeremiah or Conrad decides he's destined to brood by himself forever. Whatever happens, I will be watching. The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 premieres Wednesday, July 16, on Prime Video.

Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, John Cena Costar Test

Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, and John Cena are the trio I never knew I needed until right now. So, to celebrate their new movie, Heads of State, we put their knowledge of each other to the test with this costar quiz. We started off pretty simple by asking their favorite memory from working together, and Idris immediately poked fun at Priyanka. And of course, they all immediately remembered when Idris and John first met each other, which was on The Suicide Squad (2021), or as Idris put it, "It was on the set of the beach full of dicks." They were also all in agreement that their costar Jack Quaid was the reason they could not get through scenes without laughing because he's "so funny." Basically, they were all just really excited when they remembered something about each other — right down to Priyanka eating popcorn at crafty. You can watch Idris, Priyanka, and John's full costar test below: And be sure to watch Heads of State, which is streaming now on Prime Video.

John Cena and Idris Elba's New Action-Comedy Is Now Streaming — Here's How to Watch

It's rarely a good thing when two heads of state have a public rivalry, but at least in the new comedy 'Heads of State,' it leads to some fun action. Now streaming, the film directed by 'Nobody' filmmaker Ilya Naishuller sees a world where John Cena is the president and Idris Elba is the UK's Prime Minister. Obviously they're playing characters, not themselves (though imagine that world). They don't get along, but when they find themselves in the same crosshairs, they're forced to work together. You can find 'Heads of State' over on Prime Video. 'Heads of State' centers on the UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba) and U.S. President Will Derringer (John Cena), who have a not-so-friendly and very public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries' 'special relationship.' 'But when they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary — who proves more than a match for the two leaders' security forces — they are begrudgingly forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other,' the synopsis reads. 'Ultimately allied with the brilliant MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), they must go on the run and find a way to work together long enough to thwart a global conspiracy that threatens the entire free world.' 'Heads of State' is a three-hander between Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Idris Elba and John Cena. But, the film also stars Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid and Sarah Niles.
