[UPDATED] MCBA confirms technical glitch disrupting autogate system for foreign visitors
Preliminary investigations indicate that the issue stems from a data integration failure, which has slowed down the cross-verification process in the Malaysian Immigration Integrated System (MyIMMS).
As a result, the autogate system for foreign visitors is currently non-operational, the agency said in a statement today.
The disruption has caused congestion at several major entry points, including Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2, as well as the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) and Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB) in Johor.
MCBA clarified that the autogate lanes for Malaysian passport holders remain unaffected and continue to function as usual.
To manage the situation, all manual immigration counters have been fully activated, with additional personnel deployed to ease congestion and control queue lines.
The agency, in collaboration with the Immigration Department, is working to identify the root cause of the disruption and implement a solution as soon as possible.
"MCBA is doing its utmost to restore the system and ensure smooth movement at all entry points into the country," it said.
