Cubs Fans Upset After Roster News on Friday
Jameson Taillon is a right-handed starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, now in his tenth major-league season after carving out a reputation as a durable arm in the rotation.

Selected second overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2010 MLB Draft, he battled through Tommy John and hernia surgeries before finally making his big-league debut in June 2016.
Taillon spent four seasons in Pittsburgh before being traded to the New York Yankees, where he spent two years in the Bronx.
In December 2022, he agreed to a four-year, $68 million contract with Chicago that keeps him under team control through the 2026 season, after which he'll become an unrestricted free agent.

Through 17 starts in 2025, Taillon has logged 95.1 innings, compiled a 7–6 record, struck out 74 batters and pitched to a 4.44 ERA.

On Friday, Chicago placed him on the 15-day injured list with a strained right calf—which is expected to sideline him for at least a month—and called up Jordan Wicks to fill the vacancy.
Fans were upset to see another pitcher spend time on the IL.
One fan wrote, "Need Jordan Wicks to step up and be a back end of the rotation piece."
"Honestly, do we have anyone left after Wicks?" a fan asked in frustration.
"Out of nowhere… again," said a shocked fan.
A fan added, "We're cooked."
"Cubs trading for a SP cannot come soon enough," wrote another.
The Cubs are currently 52–35, sitting with a commanding four-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers atop the NL Central, so they'll need Taillon to get healthy to help fuel their playoff push down the stretch.

Chicago Bears to honor Virginia McCaskey, Steve McMichael in 2025
The Chicago Bears will honor matriarch Virginia Halas McCaskey and Hall of Fame defensive tackle Steve McMichael with jersey patches during the 2025 season, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Bears chairman George McCaskey told the Sun-Times that the Bears will wear a football-shaped patch with Virginia McCaskey's initials inside for every game this season, starting with next week's preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins. Virginia McCaskey passed away on Feb. 6 at the age of 102. The patch will be placed on player's jerseys above their hearts. The football is orange with navy stitches and a white outline. The navy 'M' is outlined in white and larger than the other two letters — V to the player's right, and H, for Halas, to the left. It's a nod to Virginia's father, George S. Halas, who died on Oct. 31, 1983. The Bears wore a similar patch for the remainder of the season, and it soon became permanent with the "GSH" on the left jersey sleeve which remains to this day. 'We thought it'd be appropriate to have a patch that mirrored her dad's after he passed away,' McCaskey told the Sun-Times. 'It came out great. We like the look of it.' The Bears also will not be wearing an alternate or throwback uniform this season as they remember Virginia McCaskey. The Bears will also honor McMichael, who passed away in April after a battle with ALS, with a decal on the back of their helmets. It will feature a navy football outlined in orange with white laces and his No. 76 in the middle. That same logo will be featured on Soldier Field grass on game day. McMichael was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August 2024, less than a year before his death. The Bears have found a way to honor two important figures in their storied history who passed away this season, and fans will get their first glimpse on Aug. 10 when Chicago hosts the Dolphins for their first preseason game. Cleveland Browns star out for season with torn Achilles
The worst has been confirmed by Cleveland Browns cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. The Browns' defensive back suffered a lower leg injury on Tuesday, which many were speculating was a torn Achilles. "Martin Emerson Jr. suffered what's an Achilles injury in today's practice," Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday. "He'll undergo imaging to determine the full extent of the injury but the expectation is it's a significant tear." After further evaluation, it was confirmed Emerson tore his Achilles and is done for the 2025 season. "CB Martin Emerson Jr. tore his Achilles and is out for the entire 2025 season," Ari Meirov confirms.. "A brutal blow for Emerson Jr., who was entering the final year of his rookie deal. He has started 33 games over three seasons, recording 4 interceptions, 34 pass deflections, and 202 tackles." The Browns' secondary is very thin when it comes to boundary cornerbacks. Not having Emerson could lead to Cleveland hitting the free agent market to bring in a proven veteran.
