Olivia Munn reveals she developed trichotillomania after paparazzi photo, Entertainment News
The 44-year-old actress suffers from the disorder that causes a long-term urge to pull out one's own hair and has always "immediately regretted" doing so but admitted that it all came from the first time she was in the tabloids with then-boyfriend Chris Pine.
Speaking on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, she said: "There's a sensation. It's probably not even real, but I'll feel like, 'Oh, this eyelash feels like it's gonna come out,' even though it's not.
"And then when you pull it, there was a quick second of pain. And then there's a satisfaction and then immediate regret.
"So there was a paparazzi shot of him and I, and it was the first time I was in the tabloids.
The former Newsroom star — who is now married to John Mulaney and has Malcolm, three, as well as nine-month-old Mei with him — was shocked at the time because friends thought she had set the whole thing up herself.
"They found this old blue prom dress with big pom poms on the side. And I was like, 'Oh, wonder if I can make it into the worst best dressed list?
"There were paparazzi outside his house because he had been in Star Trek and all this. And they caught photos of me. I was like, 'Oh my god.' And when it got out, one of my friends was like, 'Hey, you're dating Chris Pine.'
"And they were like, 'I think she set this up. Who's carrying a clutch during the day?'
"That began my trichotillomania."
Olivia — who dated Chris for months from 2009 until 2010 — confirmed that she is still in touch with him, and had a "great" time with him when they caught up with one another recently.
She said: "He is amazing. We were recently at SNL 50, and we're in the airport lounge together, and it was so great to catch up. He's just the best."

Brad Pitt opens up about struggles with alcoholism, Entertainment News
Brad Pitt has opened up about his struggles with addiction and his journey through Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) after the breakdown of his marriage to Angelina Jolie. The 61-year-old discussed the aftermath of the end of his second marriage on the new episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, hosted by Dax Shepard. The F1 star said the turbulent time pushed him to seek help, leading him to join AA and confront years of substance dependency. He said: "I was pretty much on my knees… I needed to wake the f*** up in some areas. "I was really open to… I was trying anything anyone threw at me. It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting." While speaking to 50-year-old Dax, who has publicly discussed his own sobriety journey and relapse after 16 years, Brad recalled feeling nervous when first attending AA. The actor, who split from Angelina in 2016, added: "It gives you permission to go, 'OK, I'm gonna step out on this edge and see what happens'. "And then I really grew to love it." Brad also praised Dax for his honesty, calling him "so f****** honest" and likening him to "an elder statesman" of the group. He added: "Dax was usually near the end because he's been there a while. "I just thought it was incredible — men sharing their experiences with their foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches, and a lot of humour with it." Raised in Missouri after being born in Oklahoma, Brad reflected on the environment he grew up in. "Everything is great," was the mantra of the men around him, he said — a culture that left little room for emotional openness. In a 2019 interview with The New York Times, Brad previously said AA offered him a safe, judgment-free space. "It was actually really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself," he said. He also explained the group helped him finally "revoke (his) drinking privileges." Brad also acknowledged alcohol was not the only substance he had used to cope with fame and pressure. "In the '90s, all that attention really threw me," he said, adding: "I really became a bit of a hermit and just bonged myself into oblivion." In 2020, Brad publicly credited actor Bradley Cooper, 49, with helping him to overcome his addiction issues. While accepting a Best Supporting Actor award from Bradley at the National Board of Review gala, Brad said the former helped him "get sober" and that "every day has been happier ever since". Brad's decision to get sober came in the wake of his split from Angelina, 49, with whom he shares six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. The former couple, who met on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005 and married in 2014, were embroiled in a lengthy legal dispute after Angelina filed for divorce in 2016. It was a process finally concluded in December 2024, following Brad's 2022 lawsuit over the sale of her share in their Château Miraval estate. Brad is currently in a relationship with 34-year-old jewellery executive Ines de Ramon, who resides with him in Los Angeles, while Angelina is believed to be single. Hollywood actress Olivia Munn's 5 favourite places in Tokyo
The baronial manors, rolling lawns and private clubs in the fictional suburban backdrop of the new Apple TV+ series Your Friends & Neighbors bear little resemblance to the buzzing sidewalks, neon lights and hidden warrens of Tokyo. But for the actress Olivia Munn, who plays an outsider turned socialite on the show, her childhood years in the city helped inform the role. At age 8, Munn, now 44, moved from Oklahoma City, where she was born, to Yokota Air Base in Tokyo, along with her mom, then stepdad (an Air Force major) and four siblings. Suddenly, she was the odd kid out, 'thrust into new worlds' where she became determined to find her place, she said in a recent video interview. 'I really got good at observing people.' Over the better part of a decade, she explored the now Instagram-famous alleys of Omoide Yokocho, where packed, tiny restaurants served 'the most amazing yakisoba'; teeming Harajuku, where 'everyone dressed up like anime' on Sundays; the warren of games and gadgetry in the Akihabara electronics district, where she and her brother combed through the bins for Casio watches; and Mount Fuji, about 60 miles away but visible from the city's high-rises, where she and her family twice hiked to the summit and were rewarded with steaming ramen and stunning views. Munn moved back to the United States at 16 and attended the University of Oklahoma before going on to a career that has included the HBO series The Newsroom and the superhero blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse. Though she minored in Japanese, her language skills have slipped a bit, she said, but 'it all comes back to me' with a little practice when she makes one of her regular trips back to Tokyo. And now that she and her husband, the comedian John Mulaney, have two children, three-year-old Malcolm and seven-month-old Mei, Tokyo tops the couple's international travel list. 'I would really like them to experience and absorb the structure there, the patience there and the politeness there,' Munn said. A few of these places might well be perfect for kids. Others will require some babysitting while the grown-ups hit the town. HAKUHINKAN TOY PARK As even a casual observer of Hello Kitty or Pokemon knows, Japan takes toy culture to new heights, and Munn is a fan. Her favourite monument to the make-believe is Hakuhinkan Toy Park in the Ginza district, a four-storey megastore where you'll find worlds (and subworlds) of action figures, plush toys, racecars, games, dolls and puzzles, as well as the occasional pop-up magic show. Despite the daunting number of items for sale — around 200,000 at last count — 'it is worth going through methodically,' she advised. 'You'll find some really cool things that you've never seen.' GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS View this post on Instagram A post shared by 銀座 蔦屋書店 (@ginza_tsutayabooks) Not far from Hakuhinkan Toy Park, this art-heavy bookstore with a gallery, a stationery department and a cafe is another of Munn's beloved hunting grounds. She recommends stopping in even if you don't read Japanese because so many of the books are works of art. Her most prized possession from the shop: A fortune-telling book by the former Japanese TV personality Kazuko Hosoki, who holds the Guinness World Record for best-selling author in the genre. 'She was so brutally honest, she got a lot of hate for it,' Munn said. 'But also people were obsessed with it because if she's willing to tell them the bad stuff, then they assume that they can believe her when she says something good.' SUSHI GOTOKU SHIBUYA Growing up, Munn loved the city's low-cost yakisoba and yakitori vendors — and still does. But she also has a taste for the high end of the culinary spectrum, she said, citing Sushi Gotoku, in Shibuya, where she orders the Hokkaido uni, or sea urchin ('it's going to melt in your mouth'), and the tiger prawns. SHIMOKITAZAWA Known for its vintage clothing stores, this bohemian district west of Shibuya draws treasure hunters like Munn, who said she had gotten lucky with Chanel and Hermes finds on her visits. But even if you're not a fashion hound, you can always discover one of the area's cute record shops and cafes.
