In a conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Pooja shared details about what reportedly happened in the hours leading up to Shefali's death. She opened up about her conversation with Shefali's husband, actor Parag Tyagi. He told her that there was a puja at home and the home was decorated for that ceremony when she arrived to pay her last visit to Shefali.

Pooja said, 'In fact, the next day when we were allowed to enter the home to bring Shefali for the last rites, I realised that the whole house was decorated for puja. So there was a Satyanarayan ki puja at home and they did a beautiful puja setup at home.'
Shefali had dinner and asked her husband to take their elderly dog for a walk. 'And the moment he went down, apparently he was called.

According to Pooja, Parag waited by the lift and handed over the dog to the helper before going to check on Shefali. 'Parag said that she still had a pulse. And her eyes were not opening and she just had dead weight to her body. So he immediately must have realised that something was definitely wrong. And he took her to the hospital… before she was brought in at Bellevue, she was already no more,' she stated.
Shefali's last rites took place at Oshiwara Hindu crematorium, attended by her family and close friends.
