Public trust deficit on PMX, Madani gov't gets vented on Agong's Facebook page

Focus Malaysia6 days ago

MAN-on-the-street Malaysians have done the unimaginable by expressing their dismay over Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Madani administration on the Facebook (FB) page of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
They did such unprecedented practice by posting comments which diverted from the norm in a social media post on Sultan Ibrahim meeting PMX who also briefed the former on current developments and various current issues.
The meeting at Istana Bukit Tunku in Kuala Lumpur yesterday (June 22) lasted for almost two hours, according to Sultan Ibrahim's FB post.
It cannot, however, be immediately ascertained if the detractors included opposition backers/cybertroopers, the pro-Najib faction or even disgruntled PKR loyalists who are disillusioned with outcome of the recent party's central leadership polls.
'Daulat Tuanku. We the ordinary rakyat are struggling, Your Majesty with businesses in decline, purchasing power being not what it used to be, the rates of water & electricity also felt very different … hope the government is more sensitive to this issue,' read the top comment.
'We the people don't know who else to complain to. Profound apology, Your Majesty.'
Interestingly, a Madani government backer tried to diffuse the claim by accusing that it was merely an opposition slander given the government of the day has dished out the Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (MYSARA) initiatives to ease financial burden of the B40 group.'
However, he was accused as a Madani government cybertrooper who only wanted 'to deny grouses from the rakyat to protect the government's image' with one commenter openly declared 'we openly reject PMX, Your Majesty'.
Another even wondered if Sultan Ibrahim ever read disgruntlements expressed by his royal subjects.
One commenter even called for the reinstatement of incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak as 'PMX is only burdening the rakyat and only leading the country towards destruction'.
Appeals also poured in for Sultan Ibrahim to advise PMX on how to administer the country prudently – or even to appoint an interim PM – especially given that 'taxes have been risen, subsidies are eliminated (reduced to targeted subsidies) and national debt has increased'.
Truth hurts for the bottom line – as mooted by some commenters – is for the dissolution of Parliament to pave way for the 16th General Election (GE16) or who else can lend an ear to their anguish if not the Agong himself. – June 23, 2025

Rafizi's criticisms dragging PKR backwards, says report

Rafizi Ramli had resigned from the Cabinet after losing to Nurul Izzah Anwar in the race for the post of PKR deputy president. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The accusations levelled by former economy minister Rafizi Ramli at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim are dragging PKR backward, says Berita Harian group editor Zulkifli Jalil. In a recent opinion piece, Zulkifli said that Rafizi, since resigning from the Cabinet, had seemed to be 'burning the mosquito net to kill the mosquito', using a Malay idiom to describe how the former minister's criticisms will harm the party's image. 'On Friday (June 20), Rafizi started his first podcast, 'Yang Berhenti Menteri', after his exit from the Cabinet. 'He is still making accusations. He likes to make his own conclusions and point fingers at the prime minister,' he said. Zulkifli criticised Rafizi for publicly going against PKR, pointing out that the party took 25 years to reach where it is today. 'Why burn the mosquito net to kill a mosquito? Rafizi's actions seem to be dragging PKR backward,' he said. Rafizi had resigned from the Cabinet after losing to Nurul Izzah Anwar in the race for the post of PKR deputy president. In his podcast, he said it was better for him to resign than to become a 'lame duck' minister or a 'yes man'. Rafizi claimed it was clear he had lost the prime minister's confidence, making it impossible to carry out reforms effectively. However, Zulkifli said Rafizi had been rash to resign, as he still had the support of the public despite losing party support. He pointed out that Rafizi had not been asked or pressured to resign, and the prime minister himself had asked him to stay. Zulkifli said there was no need for a minister to hold a party post, and that Rafizi had a good track record as economy minister with initiatives such as the People's Income Initiative, Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and the 13th Malaysia Plan. He added that Rafizi should have calmed down and asked himself if resigning would have benefited the party. Zulkifli said winning and losing is common in politics. 'Politics is very dynamic. One cannot be petty in politics. A politician must resist criticism. He cannot be thin-skinned (telinga nipis),' he added.

Zahid: Immediate aid for fire victims in Bagan Datuk

KUALA LUMPUR: Immediate assistance will be channelled to all victims of the fire that destroyed 23 houses and premises in Kampung Bagan Pasir Laut, Hutan Melintang, Bagan Datuk, early this morning. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he had been informed of the incident, and officers from his office had immediately gone to the ground to meet all the affected families. "God willing, immediate assistance will be channelled, and each victim will be given the attention and support they deserve," he said in a Facebook post today. Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk member of parliament, expressed his deepest appreciation to all parties involved, especially the fire brigade, security personnel, and volunteers, for their efforts in the rescue and firefighting operations. "The swift action and spirit of togetherness shown are greatly appreciated. My prayers are with all the victims. May they be given strength and fortitude in facing this difficult ordeal," he said. In the 4.30am incident, a total of 23 premises were destroyed, involving 19 Class B and C houses, each estimated to have an area of 92.9 square metres, a non-Muslim house of worship, two eateries, and a retail shop. However, no casualties were reported. The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department's forensic team is still conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the incident.

JKOM expands programmes to boost Malaysia MADANI awareness

KEPALA BATAS: The Community Communication Department (JKOM) is broadening its initiatives to engage specific groups, ensuring effective dissemination of government policies and the Malaysia MADANI framework. Deputy director-general (management) Kafrawi Ridzuan Tarmizi highlighted the positive reception of these tailored programmes. Speaking after the 2025 MADANI Unity Programme in Kepala Batas, Kafrawi noted that the initiatives aim to correct misconceptions about MADANI, often wrongly perceived as a political agenda. 'The MADANI concept upholds universal values applicable to all Malaysians,' he said. The programmes, now active in multiple states, prioritise youth engagement. 'Students are our future leaders. By instilling MADANI values early, we nurture a generation aligned with national unity,' Kafrawi added.
